Hanzo, of all his stupid decisions, had considered this to be one of the more idiotic ones.

"I need to conquer my fears, this is just... unhealthy." The cold weather must have clouded his judgement because during the early hours of the AM, Hanzo made his steady approach to Alysia's residence, carrying a.. Valentine's gift.

It wasn't a gift to him, it was more like a bribe to stay on Alysia's good side. Alysia, Hanzo.. and Kitty, knew he was petrified of the woman, for reasons even unkown to him. He figured she'd be up, and this would be the most opportune to deliver his... "materialized affection" or some lovey-dovey nonsense. Finally he reached the front door and made a fairly loud knock, though it'd probably be nothing more than a soft tap deep within the confines of the manor. But, he didn't want to sound like he was a thief in the night either.

So outside he waited, box poorly hidden behind his back.

Alysia was well aware of Hanzo's sudden and recent displays of trepidation. His behavior, as far as she was concerned, was heading from kind of irrational to downright bizarre. Still, while she had no particular enmity toward him, she was innately suspicious and traditionally disinclined to trust those who tended toward the stealthy-killer persuasion. From her point of view, the fact that Hanzo was fearful meant that he expected them to be at odds at some point.

So it was with a great deal of surprise that she recognized him making his way through the snow blanketing the grounds, some sort of box held behind him in what she privately considered a miserable attempt at disguise. It occurred to her that if he really was that scared, he might try to remedy the situation by removing the source of his fear. Immediately uneasy, and now assuming he was trying to conceal some sort of weapon narrowly tailored to her weaknesses, she drew her soulsword and headed for the foyer as his knock sounded at the entrance.

Alysia flung one of the double doors open, grabbed Hanzo by his shirt, and kicked the door shut before shoving him against the entrance with the edge of her blade held to his throat.

"Hanzo," the Priestess purred. "What brings you here?"

No, he wasn't scared that a weapon was at his neck. It wasn't the first time in his life he'd been in such a predicament. But Alysia using that soft voice did nothing but confuse the hell out of him. The box fell to the floor, causing him to release an inaudible gasp."

"Now now miss Skye.." Slowly, reluctantly making eye contact. "If you cut out my voice box, how will I be able to tell you why I'm here?" He gives her a pointed look to the box, trying to avoid that crimson glare.

"I brought you.. a gift, making sure this sort of thing wouldn't happen. You know.. I'm trying to conquer my fear so I don't piss myself in your presence? You're not making that any easier." His calm, stoic voice belied the shivering little boy inside. "So... if you can trust me enough to not kill me at this second, your gift is neatly wrapped 5 paces to your left."

He didn't move, he didn't even breathe at a normal pace. He just awaited her decision.

"Charming," Alysia breathed. "I'm amused that you think a gift could buy your life, if your life was something I sought to end. It's not." At the moment, she thought. She inclined her head with wry acknowledgment and stepped back two paces, lowering the sword.

"However, surprises have this funny way of making me nervous. Why don't you pick up the box?"

Making.. you.. nervous? How do you think I feel. He stayed pressed against the door for a moment, gaining his composure. He moved slowly towards the box, not making any sudden movements.

Gingerly picking up the box, he handed it to her, looking into her eyes once more. "There you are miss Skye."

His facade began to show minor faults, his breathing was slightly faster, pupils seemed a bit more dilated. He was still half expecting her to steal her soul, cut him into many pieces, and other stereotypical ways to be killed in Rhy'Din. But he asked for it, walking in here.

He finally began to regret this decision.

"Gods and demons, Hanzo, what did I ever do to you?" Alysia offered what might be considered a disarming smile and made a show of sheathing her sword. She took the box Hanzo held out, shaking it, holding it up to the light, sniffing it. She didn't make eye contact with him until she'd finished a cursory examination of it, then she held the box out and stared at him.

"If you swear this won't explode when I open it, I won't kill you." The Priestess remarked in a smooth contralto.

" Miss Skye, not to be disrespectful in anyway, but I don't need help commiting suicide. No, the box will not explode, cause any physical or psychological harm. Inside is a soft, cuddly teddybear. " A smirk at that, shaking his head. "It is, but has it's stress relieving purposes. If you squeeze it, it'll release endorphins to make you feel all happy and... stuff."

"Now, I didn't make a trek all the way to your house to give you.. that atrocity. I came here in attempt to abolish my fear of you." He turned away from her, facing a window. "This.. encounter, has done nothing more than make me more fearful." He gazed outside, the heavy snowfall was obscuring his view.

(s) "That snow's getting nasty.. but staying here.. Miss Skye.. would you be sparing enough to not kick me out in this white out. I wonder if I can spend the night here without waking up from some bad nightmare. So.." A sharp about face. "Do I have permission to stay the night here? "

Alysia held the endorphin-releasing teddy bear, looking it over and listening as Hanzo explained. The box didn't explode. Neither did the bear. Neither did Hanzo, for that matter, and that was surprising.

She wondered if the cuddly plush worked for demonspawn. The Priestess could think of a few more productive and interesting ways to release endophins and relieve stress, but Hanzo was nervous enough as it was. She didn't think he was in the mood to appreciate her suggestions.

Hanzo glanced toward the window. "That snow's getting nasty.. but staying here.. Miss Skye.. would you be sparing enough to not kick me out in this white out. I wonder if I can spend the night here without waking up from some bad nightmare. So.." He turned around sharply and asked for permission to stay the night.

Alysia thoughtfully put one hand on a leather-clad hip, still holding what he'd referred to as 'that atrocity'. The stuffed bear dangled in her grasp. Her storming, fire-red gaze flickered toward the stairs, and she nodded once before turning back to Hanzo. "I suppose so. I rather suspect you'll have disturbing dreams, but I'd rather not have the death of a guest on my conscience. People might talk."

She smiled crookedly, showing the points of her fangs. "Come on. I'll show you where you can stay."
