No one knew Badside the way PJ did. No one else knew which shadows to avoid, or which alleys would wend their way into the deepest nooks and crannies.

The lowlifes, thugs and creeps that called the area home knew PJ was off-limits. Those new to the area usually heard the whispers before getting themselves into trouble. Those who chose to ignore the warnings often times paid the price? once.

PJ skulked the alleys, slunk through back doors, and used the city sewers as her own personal highway. She stayed on the move - so much that her own shadow would have been left behind. She knew Gage would be coming for her, and he knew he?d likely find her, but she wasn?t going to make it easy on him.

It had been a week already (or was it two?) since Gage had so unexpectedly inserted himself back into her life. The days were spent trying to sleep, so she could stay on the move at night, it was little wonder she couldn?t remember exactly what day it was. What sleep she did manage to get was colored blood red, and the wielder of the dream-crayon wasn?t staying inside the lines. With the need to stay sharp sans rest, PJ could feel the pull of that old demon nose candy. Well, that figured. Gage plus lack of sleep usually equaled a speedy addiction. It was calling to her, but she hadn?t heeded its siren song yet.

Through it all though, was the worry. She had to believe Reap was okay. She had to believe Alain, and Charlie and the others present that night would have seen to it. She had to believe Reap had gotten her message. She just had to believe.

She wasn?t sure of Gage?s levels at the moment. She hoped if she stayed away from Reap, that Gage would stay away from Reap as well. It wasn?t Reap that Gage really wanted anyway. What Gage wanted was either PJ? or to destroy PJ. She wasn?t sure of that yet either.

Through the help of Charlie and some of her old connections, PJ was undergoing some identity hiding transformations. Her bag of tricks was pretty impressive so far ? blonde hair, blue contacts hidden behind giant sunglasses, form-hiding clothing, run of the mill sneakers (with lifts for height!), and cheap perfume. It was far from fool-proof, but it was good enough to lift Charlie?s eyebrows a bit ? which meant everyone else would be very hard pressed to see the PJ behind the mask.

Maybe? Gage wouldn?t find her.
Maybe? Reap would forgive her.
