So I know people like to post what songs remind them of certain characters and those characters' moods and so on and so forth. This is kind of the same idea but a little different.
I love soundtracks and theme songs. There are times I really wish I could play music over certain RP scenes to add to the drama/silliness depending on what's going on.
These are some songs/bits of lyrics that come to mind when I think of the DoD, feel free to add:
1. Waitin' for the Night by Joan Jett
This was actually PJ's pick when we first "organized" ourselves (not that you can call the DoD much of an organization). At least I think this was it, and if it wasn't, well I think it applies anyway:
Shades of gray don't fade away
They're waitin' for the night
Goin' out is what we're about
We're waitin' for the night
Friends and foes movin' fast and movin' slow
We're waitin' for the night
Hangin' around so astounded
Waitin' for the night
Waitin' for the night
Waitin' for the night
Days are taken
Waitin' for the night
At the hall havin' a ball
Waitin' for the night
Don't care, don't care at all
Cause we've seen, we've seen it all
Waitin' for the night
2. Maneater by Nelly Furtado
Ok this is more because Koy teases Rena about being a maneater but I imagine this might actually reach beyond the Sage Bean Counter. Yes, this is totally a guilty pleasure song for me:
Maneater, make you work hard
Make you spend hard
Make you want all, of her love
She's a maneater
make you buy cars
make you cut cords
make you fall, fall in love
She's a Maneater, make you work hard
Make you spend hard
Make you want all, of her love
She's a maneater
make you buy cars
make you cut cords
Wish you never ever met her at all!
And when she walks she walks with passion
when she talks, she talks like she can handle it
when she asks for something boy she means it
even if you never ever seen it
everybody get your necks to crack around
all you crazy people come on jump around
you doing anything to keep her by your side
because, she said she love you, love you long time!
3. Night in My Veins by the Pretenders
Chrissy Hynde could have very well been a DoD member:
It's just the night in my veins
Oh
Making me crawl in the dust again
It's just the night
Under my skin
Slipping it in
He's got his hands in my hair
And his lips everywhere
Oh yeah
It feels good
It's alright
Even if it's just
The night in my veins
4. Hurt by Nine Inch Nails
I'd pick the Johnny Cash cover to this song if I were going to actually play it but yeah, with all the violence and substance abuse that goes on, this seems appropriate:
I hurt myself today
To see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
The only thing that's real
The needle tears a hole
The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
But I remember everything
What have I become?
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know
Goes away in the end
You could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt
5. Dropkick Murphys
So I have two songs by the Dropkick Murphys because of these lyrics (and oh yes, here comes my Harvard style outline - if only I could get some bullet points working on these boards I would be in anal-retentive heaven):
a. Irish Drinking Song - this one you should actually listen to to see what I'm talking about, it could very well be the DoD mantra at times:
We'll drink an drink an drink an drink
an drink an drink an fight!
b. The Dirty Glass - this is actually a guy and a girl singing back and forth so I'll just paste the lyrics here with the girl in blue:
Darcy, Darcy darling dear,
You left me dying, crying there
In whiskey, gin, and pints of beer
I fell for you my darling dear
You shut me off and you showed me the door
But you always came crawling back begging me for more
I showed you kindness, a stool, and a tab
Then you poured me my pain in a dirty glass
(Yeah, you left him bloody, battered, penniless, and poor)
You know, I often stopped and wondered how you made it through my door
With my brother's new non-duplicate registry ID
Well you bit off more than you could chew the first day you met me.
So that's it for now, more to come!
