A look at the calendar made Rena groan. A little over two weeks and it would be one of fashion?s biggest events: Fashion Week. Rena was not one to follow fashion trends: she wore what she liked and felt comfortable in-which was mostly jeans, t-shirts and boots. Sweaters and jackets were added when cooler weather invaded the city. But for two weeks each year, the world focused on fashion: what to wear, what was en vogue, colors, patterns and so forth and so on. Every now and then when the occasion called for it, Rena could (and did) dress up, including heels, which she wore reluctantly. But this week, notices were popping up all over town and ads were playing on the television and radio. A curse then a mutter under her breath could be heard-Stalker did nothing but look at her like she was crazy and continued to prance around the house like he owned it.

A chuckle echoed around the room as Rena moved from the kitchen to what she called her creative space and headed to the drawing table. Looking through the designs she had attempted to sketch, one in particular garnered her attention and she pulled it from the pile. While at the duels, Jingo?s tail caught her eye and she did preliminary sketches in her every present notebook and transferred it to larger paper, when it had reached a point that she imagined how to work it. Colored glass was pulled and arranged in sequence then rearranged as will. Some noise in the background was ignored, as Rena focused on the project in front of her until the noise happened again.

Picking up the coffee mug, Rena headed to the front of house when she realized the noise was a knock on the door. ?Hold your horses?, Rena yelled out as an impatient knock happened a third time. Yanking the door open and about to converse rather rudely with whomever was on the other side, Rena paused as she spied a uniformed messenger. He nodded before handing Rena a black and white envelope. Taking it, Rena tipped the man then kicked the door shut before retracing her route back to her creative room. Only five people had stationery of this design and she laughed. Placing the mug down, Rena turned the envelope over and opened it. Inside were three items: two pictures and a piece of matching note paper.

The first picture was of her in a dress worn at a wedding. The color combination of black and pink wouldn?t work for anyone but the bride. The second picture was of a future fashionista: Thia stood in her own glamorous get-up, pink leggings tucked into zebra-print galoshes, a sparkly white shirt and a silvery tutu with pink and black striped earmuffs. In her hands she held a paper that read "DO IT!" in large capital letters written in her mother's handwriting surrounded by smiley faces and triangular shapes meant to be fancy dresses. The piece of paper, though, brought a groan from Rena as she read it twice.

Beans,
You are not fooling anyone. We all know you look aces when you get all dolled up. So don't complain and let me play dress up with you this year for the charity kickoff event. You'll like it. It's at the Outback. It's for a good cause.

This is me asking nicely. Please don't make me come up with other ways of asking.

xoxo,
Legs

It was Fashion Week Runway Time.
