Kalis returns to Rhydin, though in secret, only lilith and Val know of his arrival, he seeks out Rie's sister, Xander, who carries the bastard child of his dead son, Yaxlir. He seeks the death of Xander and her child, they are a threat to his rule, to his power. He looks for Rie and for Val, prehaps he can manipulate them, gain their trust to find out wher Xander is, then trap the whore and her bastard son, and kill them both.

He seeks out Rie, maybe she does not know of his treachery, of him killing Alaria, Yaxlir and Anisa. If she has turned, then Rie will die as well, he only wishes to use her now, and nothing more.
