Igneous

A few weeks have passed in the small lake clearing in the Outback's unforgiving forests. These weeks bore witness to trees being cut down, and simplistic cabins and buildings being erected.

Igneous overlooked several plans with Larus watching over his shoulders. Fang Wood Den, the fledgling mercenary town Igneous wished to start was coming to reality, though with all new cities, the scarcity of supplies and funding were surfacing everywhere. To counter this problem, Igneous agreed to all the Den to hire his Drow mercenaries to help bolster the anemic levels of Den Fangs after the war. Evidently the Den was suffering another bought of corruption within it's walls.

Leaving the plans on the makeshift table, he looked to Larus for a moment. "How bad is the Den getting?"

"Bad enough that many of their young carry firearms and rob people with fervor. Tis a pity we never managed to take the Den. You probably could have wiped out the corruption." Larus said as an observation.

Igneous just shook his head and gave a small sigh. "No. If I had won the battle and taken the Den with the way my mind was, it would be in worse shape than it is now. No group of living creatures is ever without strife, violence, or evil. For without it, good grows lazy, weak, and starving leading to corruption itself."

"And a city full of mercenaries will fair better?" Larus asked with amusement.

"With this city though, we know we are asking for trouble. An old saying my father used to tell me. Trouble keeps other trouble in check. It's when you remove all of the trouble, that more trouble will rise up faster and stronger." Igneous smiled as he said that.

Larus looked at the small cluster of buildings with thought for a moment. The advice Igneous just spouted had a certain ring to it. "All I can say, sir, is that your kind are very, unique."

Lupis

Walking in the guise of a human mercenary, Lupis visited the fledgling Fang Wood Den. He wanted to see just exactly what this son of his was up to. He snorted thinking about the term 'son'. Granted, he felt about all of the Lupinossai as his children, like his mate Canis, but few he calls son. His sons had to prove themselves to him in combat, knowledge, and cunning. Igneous was close to the mark, but Lupis couldn't simply overlook the bloodshed of fellow Lupinossai caused by the mage.

The settlement looked promising. Building were up, and Lupis noted a steady influx of humans, drow, dwarves, scruffy looking lupinossai, and more. All with the trappings of sell swords, mercenaries, thugs, thieves, and more. It would seem Igneous had grand aspirations to build a city on hired services of merchants of death. He continued to walk quietly, watching, observing, and biding his time.
