It had been several weeks since the end of the outbreak. The souls of the Healers responsible were dammed to torment, and the deamon who had tried to use them to enter Rhydin was dead.
Arak was tired. First the Archon war back home, and when he finally made it back to Rhydin to try and forget that hell, the Lupanecrosis outbreak. Arak was tired of the fighting. For the past several weeks Arak had been avoiding the rest of this chaotic world, but once again it's troubles intruded on his solace and he felt a need to try and help.

A simple teleportation spell brought him to the gates of the Den, nodding to the Marduk which even now still guarded the community. Walking into the Den proper, he saw signs of recovery from the plague, but there were even more signs of loss. The whole Den had been betrayed by their own kind, and there were losses that could never be replaced. Right now Arak had heard that another loss might be added to that list, one Arak did not want to see, but could do nothing about.

Ammy was dying. They had briefly been lovers once, and the mage still cared for her, but his talents could do nothing about her own body breaking down. There was, however one person in the Den who might be able to help.

Bringing his thoughts back to the present, he stopped in front of Ammy and Fleet's home and knocked on the door. It didn't matter who opened the door, he'd already prepared what he'd say, "I'm here to teach Myrleen everything I know about magic."

Fleet answered the door. Lab coat was a bit smeared in blood. Another injury from the excursions into the Healer's Guild building was brought to him. He would be glad when all the booby traps were gone and they could move the clinic into the building. Blue eyes were a bit surprised to see Arak at the door.

"Arak, old friend, never thought to see you back in the Den of chaos. Not injured I hope?" he said with a smile and ushered him into the room. The greeting from Arak caught him by surprise.

"Ah, so that's what has your attention. Not surprised. My daughter has gotten a little reputation from that night in the bar. By all means, if you want to train that's fine with me. Have a seat and relax a bit. I am almost done."

Fleet motioned to the couch in the living room that also served as the Clinics main treatment room. He returned to a stool and a cot where a young Lupe male was reclining. A nasty 10 inch gash was on his leg. Fleet's paws picked up the needle and thread and resumed stitching. He asked the Lupe if he felt any pain still and just smiled when he said no.

"You will need to talk to Ammy first though Arak. She has become quite, how to say, overly protective of Myrlene late. And another interesting note, she taken up drinking beer. Found Ammy asleep on the floor last night, her teleport mirror in one paw." he chuckled a little.

"So much happens around here I am getting lost. How have you been doing?"

Arak followed Fleet inside and took a seat on a nearby stool, closing his wings tightly behind him, where his tail was sweeping rapidly in agitation. Listening to Fleet's description of Ammy's behavior brought a nod from the gryphon.

Breathing a deep sigh, Arak got right to it, "I know she's dying Fleet. My skills alone cannot save her, but I think your daughter's might. Myrlene is more than simply special. She is essentially a demi-god, and something in the aether tells me she just may well surpass both you and her mother in terms of both power and skill."

"I will talk to Ammy as soon as she is able to, but I would like you to help me convince her. If I am to teach Myrlene what I know, it will have to be done away from the eyes of my Elders. They gave me permission once to train Mokksha, but the war changed things. They are less trusting of outsiders with knowledge which by all rights is not even entirely theirs to grant or deny." Shaking his head at such short-sighted views.

"Even so, I will have to proceed carefully, and Myrlene's lessons will need to be outside Rhydin, so I will need permission to take her offworld. I assure you, I will not allow any more temporal discontinuity. She has aged faster than she should have already, I won't bring more of that on you three. Still, her lessons will last months at a time in a pocket realm where her personal flow of time will be halted." Another careful look to Fleet, "There is more as well. When her studies of magic have progressed far enough, it is my intention to imbue her with a Magistone and an Esper."

The mage waited to see what Fleet had to say about that last piece of news.

Ammy walked in from the Lab to get some more data for a test she was running and stopped as she saw Arrak sitting in the living room. A smile touched her muzzle. She noted that him and Fleet appeared to be in the middle of a conversation and stopped when she walked in.

"Hey there Arrak. You feeling okay? Not sick I hope. Haven't seen you sense, well, you know, that day." she smiled again and continued on to the desk. She grabbed a few files, coughed a few times as she looked for some missing paperwork and headed for the Lab. She looked in time to see Myrlene handling something dangerous.

"Not that one hon. Put it down gently. We need the beaker with blue liquid, not red okay?" she smiled and her emerald eyes fell back on Arakk, who was more than likely watching her. Everyone did when they came to the house clinic.

"Something on your mind hon?"
