Topic: Life in the Black Market

Just like any city there are criminals whether there be a lot of them or a few of them. During the war the Lupinossai Den had lost many Den Fangs to keep watch and keep order within the Den. At the same time something had brewed deep within the Den and crimes began to rise and they were only getting worse. There was vandalism, robbery, shootings, cases of murder and more. Even children had weapons and guns in their possession. There was not enough Den Fangs to resolve all the issues going on. Most of these criminals were unfortunately those that suffered from poverty or the young that no longer had parents or elsewhere to go. This also led to groups and gangs to form organized crimes so they had someone to look out for each other.

Night time was when it all would get worse. Some shops were starting to close much earlier so they would not get robbed. But when these shops closed another business opened. A black market. There was those that that had the wits and sneakiness to set up hidden shops within the Den Market or elsewhere. Even some shops that looked innocent and legitimate during the day turned into dirty sellers and buyers at night of the goods they took from others to make money off of them or to have for themselves.

Rachill, a black marketeer, was one of those criminals. She wasn?t making anything better, only worse. In fact she had been working with individuals, groups and gangs to help them flourish while she made money for herself in the process. It did not matter how low she had to go for money; it was always one way or another. Whether it would be alcohol to drugs or as low as having to murder someone for some quick big money. Rachill wasn?t going to let any Den Fang or authority figure stand in her way. Many might think she is ruining her life at such a young age, but to her this was only the beginning of an adventure.

"....around the den i'm known as Theo...or Swifty, you can call me Theo.." -he was twelve and just as rough an tumble as most boys his age, or maybe more so, his young street rough voice spills over those lips as he leans against the side of an abandoned building in the now darker side of the den. A toothpick sticking from the side of his mouth as he looks out over the area hes standing in, in some attempt to be cool. Only a few small details of his dark slate grey fur can be seen from under the 1920s(US) style fedora, he probably lifted from some secondhand shop in Rhy'Din City, he now wears tilted on his pre-teen lupe head, the rest of his body adorned in black shirt and jeans. His hooded jacket laying somewhere nearby.

Theo had been alone for a long time now as his mother had died from illness years ago. His father though appearing to be a hard working lupe, had become one of the den drunks. The pre-teen lupe now spent most of his days and nights causing trouble or with his friends. Either knowing or unknowingly he was part of the black market in the den, as well as a trickster, vandal and theif. He was standing with a group of lupes that had all gathered to hang out, play cards, talk and roughhouse...Theo would just watch for now...tonight he was going to be busy...

-he pushed off of the wall and dropped the toothpick to the ground, picking up his black hoodie and dropping the hat to the ground, someone else might use it. Sliding the hoodie on he checked for his gun and lockpick set then he headed down a quiet street to the meeting spot-

Down a lawless street there was a average, but beat down, looking house with black painted windows. Outside the house there were thieves, murderers and the lowest of lows out in groups talking to each other. Others were trading items out on the street; some deals even looked like they were going wrong and a few fights would start out here and there. The night was a dangerous time for anyone even other thugs.

Inside of the marked house was Rachill. A usual meeting location of hers to do some business with others. She was sitting at a table, dressed in black cargo pants, a black T-shirt and a black hooded jacket. Others across from her were dressed in basically the same. This seemed to be a common wear with the growing population of thieves. On Rachill's side of the table was fine cut diamond and rubies inside rings and necklaces where on the other side of the table a couple of girls a little older than her were eying the jewelry. They and Rachill were bargaining over prices. It wasn't easy for Rachill to get these items and she wasn't willing to give them off for some cheap price.

But at the same time she was trying to sell this off for some quick money and meet up with a youngster she knew as Theo. At least Theo would know of the place she made deals inside. It would not be the first time she wanted him to meet her there.

Oh yes Theo knew the house all to well, he had ended up sleeping there many times when he didn't want to go home. He was headed there now his hood up over his head, paws shoved into his pockets, he had a spray paint can shoved into his large pants pocket.

He heard the other lupes out in front of the old house, he would stop and join in with a group of boys who where cheering on a knock down fight..he cheered as he recognized one of the fighters and would make a bet in his favor. Lupes knew him in this area of town and knew he knew Rachill, his reputation alone meant people didn't want to mess with him. He would cheer right along with the others and take his winnings once the fight was over...he waved to those standing around that he knew and would make his way up the walk to the black windowed house.

He would check the door and open it. Slowly he moved inside, letting the door close behind him as he leaned against the wall near the door. He would wait there in the living room for Rachill.

Dealing with the girls was hard on Rachill. They kept asking for a low price she did not want and she was asking for a higher price that they did not want. The deal had lasted several minutes before they all finally agreed on a price. The deal made Rachill a little money, so it was not all a loss. Some was better than none.

When she collected her money, and the two girls collected the items they bought, Rachill stood and departed from the table to the living room. She saw some others there hanging around and relaxing. A few couples kissing each other and leaning against walls or on a couch. As she moved through the room she paid no mind to the others; it wasn't any of her business anyways. Her eyes caught Theo by the door and she walked over to him with her paws in her pocket and a grin on her muzzle.

"Hello, Theo," she greeted the young boy. Saying that phrase had a nice little ring to it since it rhymed. This young boy named Theo was someone she could always count on and trust. He never let her down either, which made him a very good asset to her. Of course, to keep such a asset in good standards she had to share rewards with him when he helped her. "You ready to do some business with me tonight? We got a shop or two to stop by," she spoke darkly with a mischievous look upon her face. Her business was an ongoing operation. There was too many demands on the market and so much money that could be made.

-Theo watched Rachill deal with the girls, his tail slowly wagging back and forth as he leaned there against the wall near the door, he watched the others around the livingroom, seeing the couples here and those relaxing there he just stood and quietly waited for Rachill-

-to the pre-teen it seemed it took forever for the girls Rachill was dealing with to pick out what they wanted to buy and to haggle a price that both they and Rachill approved of. Finally he saw Rachill making her way over to him-

"Heya Chilly, yup i'm ready, as always!" -he grinned at her and possibly took a moment to look her over, but then he pulled the hood of his jacket back up over his head- "so where to tonight Chilly?" -he checked to make sure he still had his gun, his lockpicks, his knife and other tools, he looked back at her, he always had looked up to Rachill since he had met her and knew he could trust her and learn from her-

In one of the darker, shadowy alleys of the Den, electric green eyes horrified a passing drunk. The eyes moved as the body they were attached to drew closer to the panicked, and inebriated Erthrii male. The flicker of a dying street lamp touched upon honey gold fur as Ismu stalked her prey. The Erthrii had a lot of jewelry on him and she wanted all of it. It wasn't fair that he should have all of the nice shiny things in life, leaving her to forage for existence.

Scaled serpentine tail lashed back and forth quietly as she walked. The male cried for her to leave him alone, though the cries were soon fading as his lips, then his body started to resist movement. The Erthrii was soon still, almost statue like. Ismu straddled him with a wicked grin on her muzzle.

"I'll be taken them shinies off ya. I'm sure ya don't need them." her voice was quite plain as she spoke.

Quickly her paws riffled his pockets and slipped off the rings and necklace. Hearing a few Lupinossai moving in another alley, Ismu slipped away. The drunk would loosen up in an hour and she would be long gone, on to her next target. The only problem was, her back started to itch.

"We got a few runs to make tonight. Got to deliver some things and get the money back to them with our own little share," she said to Theo, still she had a grin on her muzzle. Rachill opened the door of the home and went out the door and into the street. As she did she pulled her hood up over her head. Her tail was wagging slightly hoping that it was going to be an interesting night.

She looked down both ways of the street to soak through her eyes the environment of what was going on once she was outside on the street. It was the same as usual. Thieves and other baddies hanging about, some groups hanging around trash can fires for warmth and some gang groups seeming to go at it with each other here and there.

This area of the city was really run down and it was the bad area of the Den, but Rachill liked it all. It just felt like home to her for some reason. Most of the Den may be peaceful and going on with life, but this bad part of the Den was more adventurous, thrilling and risky. And with the low amount of Den Fangs it would mean they wouldn't be risking themselves much to go into the dangerous territory.

Ismu didn't go to far away from the noise of other Lupinossai. One doesn't run from their prey. Maybe she'd get lucky and score another drunk or two. Moving quietly to a sewer grate, Ismu quietly lifted the cover and slipped in putting the cover back in place. She was getting used to moving through the sewers easily and found a grate in the alley where she heard the noise.

Pausing at the top of filth caked metal rungs jutting out from lichen covered stone, Ismu cocked a fox like ear and listened. It seemed the voices were moving away from her. With a grin and gleam of electric green eyes behind her dark shades, she lifted the grate and climbed out of the sewers leaving the access open for a hasty retreat.

With patience, she quietly stalked the two Lupinossai that looked young (Rachill/Theo)

-Theo would follow Rachill out of the house and make sure the door was locked, his hood remained over his head as he shoved his hands into the hoodie's pockets.- "Alright Chilly, so where to first?" -he caught up with her not aware that Ismu was anywhere nearby just yet, he looked around some as they walked, he thought he felt himself being watched, but then he looked at Rachill again-

-he silently and nearly without moving his paws checked to make sure he still had his lockpicks and his knife and gun. He as always waited for Rachill to tell him where they were going as she always had the best jobs lined up-

Some day his time to lead would come.

Rachill did not know someone was tailing them both and following them, but you couldn't say it was the first time. The bad side of the den and the dangerous streets and alley ways were always brewing with 'accidents' waiting to happen. Of course, bringing a little protection always made things a little...safer.

She put her paws in her pockets as she started to speak to Theo and tell him what was going on, "Remember that Wuudrii named Jake? Well, he's been sneaking in some stuff and turns out he got some very dangerous and illegal stuff. Like some real nice guns and some light armor-piercing rounds. Not ours to keep though. Thing is we got to pick it up from him and bring it to that group called the Black Fangs. They aren't a large group, but they're real tough and mean business." Maybe it was going to be an interesting night after all when she gave it a second thought. Though, she had never met the Black Fangs themselves. She just had to hope everything went smoothly or it would be both her tail and Theo's if things went sour.

Theo had been walking along with Rachill, his paws shoved into the hoodie pockets "Yeah i know Jake." -he blinks and thinks a moment, he had, a few run-ins with one of the henchmen of the Black Fang group, the group of lupes was small but they had members who knew what they wanted and would kill if they had to to get it. "They are a rough group" -he grinned just a little, he might have looked up to the leaders of said-group...he shook thoughts of trying to join up with them out of his head, besides Rachill was good at what she did and probably more known than that group at the moment, the Black Fangs were a rough crowd and they would both need to be on their "feet" tonight in case of trouble-

"so we are just on a pick up and delivery tonight?" -he thought they were being followed and took a moment to look around as he slowed in his walk, but he was still listening to her-

Ismu continued to stalk the two Lupinossai. She had heard that term whispered in the alleys by the drunks she'd been praying on for a few days now. Both seemed young, knowledgeable, and quite likely wealthy. Letting them slip ahead a bit more, she opened a sewer drain and slipped into the sewers that she was getting quite familiar with.

With quiet strides, Ismu raced ahead of them and climbed up a ladder to the sewer grate they would pass. Grinning, she let out a eeirie, loud, yipping fox howl that the sewers lent perfect acoustics too, then followed it in a deep booming voice.

~I am the demon of these alleys! I demand a toll for passing through my lands!~

Rachill

Date: 2011-07-19 22:02 EST
"For the most part that is what we're doing," she said back to Theo. And then that is when she heard the howl from a sewer grate they were just passing. She jumped back with a yip of surprise and quickly her right paw dug into her jacket and she pulled out her snub nosed revolver.

Rachill aimed straight at the sewer grate with her gun and growled, "Tolls? Demon of this alley? Who do you think you are acting like you're in charge of this area?" She may have been scared for a moment, but she gained her courage again. Her eyes glared at the sewer grate to whomever could be in the sewer. One question in her mind was if this person or thing in the sewer was really a threat or not. There was also the thought it could be some kid trying to pull a sheet over their heads. Unless she was getting something out of spending money, paying off some idle threat wasn't something she was going to do.

"well maybe things will go good tonight then.." -he grinned in hopes of making some extra money....Theo was listening to Rachill and didn't realize he was standing right over the grate of the sewer as the voice sounded from below as well as the howl. He got his footing as he took a few steps back and blinked those bight blue eyes, his paw moving to his belt he pulls a knife and watches the grate, he had been getting information from Chilly on the nights plans and the howl had caught him off guard-

"What tha?" He pause a moment...the howl was still making its sounds as Chilly talked..he let her ask the questions, he was watching the grate. was there someone living in the sewers?.

~I think I am the owner of these alleyways. If you doubt my credibility, ask yourself this question. Why are so many Lupinossai found stiff in the alleyways missing their possessions and only remembering green eyes looking at them? Would you rather find yourself stiff, lying on your back in the filth of the alleys while I easily remove your possessions? Or would you rather pay a simple toll and be on your way?~

The voice boomed and echoed as Ismu spoke and she tried her best not to laugh.

Rachill

Rachill listened to this mysterious stranger or demon that spoke from the sewer grate. A long moment passed as she thought about the words that were said. "That's not so wise. There are demon hunters about, you know. And people don't like it when they lose a business partner. Messing with me is not a bright idea. I don't care if you were even the Alpha of this Den. Look, we got places to go and things to do, you're wasting my time," she said with aggravation in her voice. Time was being wasted talking to who was ever inside the sewer. Jake wasn't going to wait around for them forever and Rachill knew this.

-Theo would move to stand beside Rachill, he still had the knife drawn but, but lowered it a bit as his heart stopped beating so fast, he knew if it was something playing a trick on them they could take whoever it was on- "y yeah come on...we have places to be" -trying to sound tough, he stood tall as he could..glaring down at the grate, he hoped they werent running late, it he had been alone tonight he might have just payed the "toll" to be able to get on to where he was going but with Rachill there he felt a bit more courage-

-he watched the sewer grate and waited-

Ismus

Ismu narrowed her eyes as she listened to Rachiil and Theo. Her bluff was called. She gave a sigh of defeat. The grate would grind and she'd poke her head up, and out of the sewer hole.

"I guess you guys are a lot smarter than drunks, eh? Wouldn't believe how many bums I can scare this way, and those bums, I tell you, have some nice treasure to get your paws on."

She watched them, hoping they wouldn't have any guns on them.

"Would you mind if we let this whole thing slide, and we, uhm, strike up an alliance?" Ismu asked with a nervous smile.

Rachill

Date: 2011-08-02 18:32 EST
"Yeah, I only get drunk on a few occassions, " she said, still glaring at Ismus and then added, "and surely we aren't stupid." Rachill watched Ismus poke her head out of the sewer and listened to her. An pear perked as well as an eyebrow to the question. Strike up an alliance? She was very unsure about this, but there was no time to be thinking about this. Maybe there could be a way to use this stranger to help get herself some more money as well.

"Fine. Want an alliance? Whatever, but you'll get fewer shares in what we earn for right now. We've got some business to take care of. Come if you want," Rachill said to Ismus and started moving down the street again, looking back as she did she motioned them to come with her. "Come on, Theo."

Theo Swiftfoot

Date: 2011-08-03 20:45 EST
-Theo watched Ismu poking her head up out of the sewer once the grate was moved back, he grinned some at her and put his knife back into his belt once he saw Rachill move on, he was glad to have another with them as they went about their business tonight but he hoped she wouldn't hold them back, he looked the new recruit over a moment, the pre-teen grinned but he heard Rachill and followed her to catch up.. he looked back only to ask-

"whats your name?" -speaking quietly to Ismu- "I'm Theo" -he soon was at Rachills side, he makes sure he had his gun hidden as well as the lockpicks-

Ismus

Date: 2011-08-10 14:52 EST
Ismu crawled from the sewer grate and stood. She was tall, lanky, but had the promise of curves sometime in the future. Glowing eyes behind dark shades gave Theo a once over. Fox muzzle was tugged into a smile. In the light he might have seen a few little horns on her head and that her tail was scaled like a snakes.

"Names Ismu. I'll follow you guys and take whatever you give me. And I can handle myself in a fight." she spoke the last as a long, nasty looking pipe slid from one of her long sleeves.

"I've been a bit lost in this new town. Took a bus from my last city and wound up in the big city a few miles north. Was tired of poking garbage cans their so I came down this a way and found drunks I could steal from." she grinned.
