There are several varieties of Lupinossi in the Den. These varieties are what you would see in the home realm of Lupinoss.

Please see the How to Create a Lupinossai.

Every Lupinossi, with the exception of the original four who came to Rhydin first (Ammy Spiritor, Fleetwolf, Fen Stridar, and Street Wolf), or were born in Rhydin (Myrlene Wolf-Spiritor) have the same basic origin background.

A small slice of the Dens history in Rhydin will help you understand where most Lupinossi stand.

Ammy first appeared in Rhydin nearly a year ago as an exile from her time line of Lupinoss. Yes, multiple time lines from Lupinoss spit refugees into Rhydin back then. Ammy found herself in the employ of Lord Brutin, the owner of the now quiet Slavers Association. While employed, she ran into another refugee/exile. Street Wolf. His timeline was 40 years ahead of Ammy's timeline and told her everyone she knew, including her beloved Fleetwolf, was dead.

Two months pass. Ammy and Street have made allies with various staff members of the Slaver's Association and Ammy's distaste for slavery and slaves begins to grow. She has a powerful friend Hex, a Marduk, and throughout the stay at the Slaver's Association compound, has been granted use of his forces from time to time.

Fleetwolf suddenly appears in Rhydin. This Fleetwolf is advanced. He was from a timeline that did not have Ammy in it. He was an Advanced Realm Scout/Deity. Rhydin was his next stop for scouting. After running into Ammy, and Street, Fleet decides to stay and help them cope with being exiles. Fleet and Ammy fall in love.

At this point, the timeline Fleet is from, the rulers have gone paranoid and begin pulling citizens into prisons as traitors. 300 Lupinossi including children in that number, are sentenced to death in 2 weeks times. Fleet and Ammy launch a rescue plan. They convince Lord Brutin to buy all 300 Lupinossi as exotic slaves to help in his army, or on the compound. This works.

Rhydin now has a Lupinossi explosion of 300 political refugees. They faced death in their realm and were now granted life but the gift was tethered to slavery. 3 months of slavery, and Ammy begins vying for a position of respect. Once attained, she begins negotiating with Lord Brutin to make a compound for the Lupinossi, called the Den. Construction was underway and the basic facilities completed in 2 weeks. The Lupinossi move in.

Ammy begins buying her people back from Lord Brutin in small groups. At this time, Fen Stridar emerges from a timeline where he has conquered everything in Lupinoss as an evil deity. Arriving he finds a new source of Lupinossi and a strong female to dominate. A brief bout of war lasting 2 months erupts between evil deity and the Den.

Fleet leaves to get help of another deity and becomes lost for 10 years, though in Rhydin he is only gone for 2 months. By this time, Hex has bought the entire Den compound, and the remaining Lupinossi's freedom from Lord Brutin. He moves Marduk troops in to help continue building the Den and for protection against Fen Stridar. The short war collapses due to several events beyond the scope of this history lesson. More of the information on why it ended can be asked of Fen, Ammy, or Mokksha.

It has now been nearly 7 months. Lupinossi work and live in freedom. If you wish to play a Lupinossi, you can be an adult or child just nearing adulthood, that has come from the other realm and has been through the captivity above. Or, 50 new puppies are due to be born soon in the Den. Granted starting that young is a bit disappointing, but Myrlene Wolf-Spiritor has shown what can happen when the Nexus takes interest in Pups. Rapid aging can happen.

This will conclude the origin history lesson for now.

Lupinossi have a specific view on souls. Since the first Lupe was born, they could feel the energy of other souls. A soul to a Lupe is the core intelligence and life of a living being.

Now while most races and civilizations honor and revere souls as sacred, the Lupinossi have a different practice. They are not unfamiliar with the ways of using soul energy for magic, giving sentience to constructs, or even using them to power weaponry. It has been done for centuries.

However this is not the only use they have found or practice. When a Lup dies, three things can happen.

1. They can simply pass on like most living beings.
2. They can elect to have their soul essence stay behind to help others by either use of their energy for defense or attacks, or as wisdom givers.
3. They may elect to have a part of their soul remain in a soul gem to be remembered by as someone note worthy.

The second and third option happen often. Lupes life expectancy in Lupinoss varied greatly and often they had unfinished business to tend to, or loved ones to protect. The first option is not always chosen. Lupinoss has very rocky earth under its terrain. Burial is nearly impossible, so burning or soul gems is the preferred method. The soul garden is a first of it's kind. Lupinoss has the Fenrir Glade, the forest occupied by the woodre devoted to housing the soul gems of Lupinoss.

Color of the soul gem is determined by the color of the soul. Usually the fur color of a Lupe is the color the soul gem will glow, but often times it will be another color. Unborn, or young that die often have a clear soul gem to note the blankness and newness of the soul lost.

They do believe that taking a soul forcefully from a living being as a sacred offense and punishable by death.

Since matings or weddings are on the rise in the Den, I will briefly note 3 options most Lupinosse will have in Rhydin.

Option 1:
Full traditional ceremony for a Lupinosse mating/wedding. This usually entails an elder or head alpha of the Den that the male is residing in or born of. An honor guard of a minimum of 6 Lupes each for the male and female to be mated (Parents are automatically part of this ). And any guests invited. Often entire Dens will attend whether related or not. If it is a mating of children between to Head Alphas of apposing or opposite Dens, the ceremony will swell in size.

Traditional garb for the two to be wed is nothing. Only adorning jewelry given to the mates to be by the members of the mating council are allowed. Collars, earrings, bracers, rings, or other committing jewelry will be carried by the two mates. Vows can be something left to the Elder of Ceremonies to read or devise, or personal vows may be allowed. Caution: Be wary of invoking or including gods, or goddesses in the vows. You will never know what can happen.

Once vows are exchanged, the male must mate the female before the entire congregation of witnesses to prove that they are now mated.

Option 2:
A bit briefer variation of option 1. This is an option available for lower class Lupinosse, or those wishing not to attract a lot of attention. Humans would call it a closed or private wedding before a judge. This mating/wedding only entails the Elder of Ceremony, the Mates to be, and only the parents or vouching witnesses. Maximum of 3 witnesses for each mate. Clothing may be worn by the mates, and they may be allowed to exchange the committing ceremonies before vows or the ceremony begins. However, the Elder must still witness the first mating, but this is done in a separate room with just the Elder and the two mates. Choices in vows are the same as Option 1.

Option 3:
A new addition to the Lupinosse culture. Due to Fen and Mokksha's soon to be mating, we have had to modify our customs. They will be allowed a hybrid or custom mating/wedding. This option basically takes parts of the traditional and mixes it with the customs or rituals of another race or culture. Not much else can be said as each of these hybrid matings will be unique.

And while we are on the subject of mating a few things to consider:

Lupinosse females cycle 1-2 times a year. Every 6 months basically. This is not debilitating as in humans. It signals the time to reproduce.

Gestation time for a Lupe female is 4-5 months. Typical number of pups to expect is a minimum of 3, and a max of 6. If a human chooses a Lupe for a mate, then the number of children to be expected will be the same as the number of children born at the same time of the human mate. In short, Human female who has a twin, will birth twins. Triplets will give triplets, etc.

The ritual of coming to age is a Trial by Proof in public. The initiates are chosen by their village or the parents if the initiate has proven acceptable. The age range is 12-18.

Trial by Proof are as follow by Den:
Graydol: Deep sea diving for a precious stone cast into the water.
Shieldar: Escort of an Alphrans. Alphrans must be safe and unharmed.
Steel: Fabrication of a weapon, then a duel using said weapon and winning.
Sprintar: Foot Racing either distance or time as the goal.
Stridar: 2 weeks survival in the Wolfen Glen Forrest alone.
Foxingale: 2 years adept in the ways of healing.
Spiritor: Duel of magic after learning the arts for 5 years.
Wolf: Luprikai Duel (Martial Arts) or a hybrid of the above.

Gifts are often awarded afterwords for the new Adult to help with their life. Councils will take place as well to instruct in the new roles. Initiates can try to succeed until the reach 18. If they are not successful, they are still considered adults, but lose rights to obtain Alpha status.

Ah yes. It's time for the holidays, and I am sure you are wondering what the Lupes celebrate at this time. They celebrate to Events during December and January.

The Celebration of Life was started at the end of the Great Den Wars. All Eight Dens of Lupinoss were locked in civil war for dominance at that time. Over 50,000 Lupes lost their lives in the wars, that was nearly half of Lupinoss' inhabitants.

Greater Den Wolf was brought to extinction. The only surviving members of that den are Street Wolf, and Fleet Wolf. Den Stridar and Den Shieldar were hit very hard as well. Den Steel was the only Den to weather the wars due to their military prowess and came out on top. Den Foxingale lost many trained healers in the war and Den Spiritor lost whole generations of Mages to Mage Killers. Den Graydol was merged into Den Sprintar and few remember that Graydol was a Great Den.

The Lupes were so tired of death and violence that they forced themselves to look at what they had left and cherish the fact that they lived, and still live. As the years passed on and the Celebration of Life was honored, it became a time to look at what you have, realize how worse things could be, and to celebrate being alive. Any Lupe's born during this time were celebrated as bringers of hope and new times to come. The celebration starts mid December and ends mid January.

The Celebration of Soul was also born from the wars. The Lupes could not forget those dead from the war nor leave the bodies to rot on the battle fields. It took 3 weeks to gather all of the bodies, prepare them for being made into soul gems. The Celebration of Soul lasts five days and starts two days before New Years Day, and ends two days after New Years. The reason it is five days long, is it took the mages and priests 5 days to lay the souls to rest in their soul gems.

The Celebration of Soul is not a sad time. During this time, the souls are able to leave the soul gems and take physical form. Those five days, loved ones are reunited and both living and the dead celebrate life. Counseling, blessings, and encouragement are given during this time. At the end of the five days, the souls return to their soul gems, and rest till the next Celebration of Soul.
