Vuusoolta looked upon the Den from the highest parapet of the Steele Fort that resided inside the Lupinossai city. The city seemed to slumber tensely. Lights were out, but a stray candle hear and there could be seen. A few Lupes were gathered in the streets meeting knowing full well they were breaking the curfew laws. Den Fangs patrolled all of the streets constantly.

The Den was getting anxious with all the hostile activity that had been happening to Rhydin. Many Lupes still wondered if they were in danger or not. Well tonight would be one of many nights Vuusoolta would be up on the parapet alone. He was starting to craft a powerful web of magical shields that would envelope the Den in protection for outside attacks.

He stooped down and retrieved the thick, heavy tome he had been reading a month ago when he was shot. Opening the tome, a brisk wind picked up as he flipped through several pages. Stopping on one particular page, he began to intone words in a language foreign to his muzzle, but he knew what they meant in his mind. Soon his paw dipped into a pouch he was wearing and withdrew powdered diamond. He threw a paw full of the glittering powder to the four corners of the Den, the spun slowly, releasing more powder as he spoke more words. His chanting picked up.

The powder glittered then flared into golden lights that streamed to the four corners of the Den and then followed the walls forming a shell around and above the Den. The first part of this shield was done, withdrawing powdered rubies, he repeated the process again, but the words were different and soon a ruby red light flared out as well. The Den, to magic users would seem to be nestled inside a vibrant shell of Gold and Red. To those not using magic, the Den would appear normal. Both shells ran around the Den, over the top of the Den, and several miles under the Den as well closing the city in a sphere of protection.

The Gold shield would ward against any energy, or physical attacks. The Ruby shield would cause anyone thinking of doing the Den harm to leave the Den and never come back. He had more shields to raise, but tonight he was done.

The day was bright outside the Den. Warm sunlight shown on the grassy fields before the front gates of the Den. It was almost a warm picture that any would love except for a large crater lying a few feet from the Den's gate. The crater was left behind during a confrontation of good versus evil when Ammy Spiritor stepped in and beat back the Ebony Knight and his demon Amaretto.

Most of the Lupinossai would have just ignored the crater that would soon be a pond when the rains came. The Den Alphrans and a few others in the Den didn't have that rosy optimism. Vuusoolta Wolf has been keeping in constant contact the Den Mage Guild regarding the Den Shields he had put up. The first set was smashed and broken when the Ebony Knight and Amaretto paid a visit. A new shield, fueled by Vuusoolta's own blood was raised to repel any further attacks and it proved to be quite strong.

But nothing is ever permanent or fool proof. The Den mages assessed the shield and assessed Vuusoolta. He wasn't going to be able to keep the shield going as it feed directly off his blood and Loaa magic. Vuusoolta was not happy to hear of this but the mages did offer another possibility.

They could set wards with ancient Lupesh Glyphs, strong wards long forgotten in the Old Country to raise a shield around the Den that would keep all out unless they had permission to access the Den. This would be done via portal keys that would be handed out to those allowed into the Den. The Lupesh Glyphs would run off of several guardian soul gems that volunteer to feed the shield.

Vuusoolta was again not happy about the thought of using soul magic like this, but the mages assured him that several soul gems in the Soul Garden have offered to protect the Den. They would not die nor would the souls vanish as long as all of the gems in use were kept intact and not damaged. The shield would be run by several gems in a reinforcing circuit of soul and magic energy.

Vuusoolta asked the mages to wait until he asked the people of the Den. After a week, the people of the Den unanimously agreed to the mages plan of the shield. They set to work immediately magically bending and shaping several stone pillars around the Dens inner wall making Lupesh Glyphs seamlessly. Once done and with great care and ceremony eight soul gems that volunteered their strength were removed from the Soul Garden, one soul gem from each Great Den and placed within the pillars.

A large humming was heard and soon the sound went away as a translucent shield rose, domed over the Den and spread out for half a mile past the Dens walls. At this point, Vuusoolta broke the bonds to the shield he had raised with relief. The mages were not done though. They came to Vuusoolta once more. The reasoned that yes, the shield is up, and it will repel everything as long as the soul gems are intact, but why invite trouble with open arms?

The showed Vuusoolta texts and spells from a tome his father Fleetian Wolf had brought from the Lands of Krynn regarding a protective forest that white mages had used for a mage tower known as the Tower of Weyreth. The forest would be magically raised in an instant and would be powerful enough to make any traveler in the forest disoriented making them leave the way they had come in. It would help keep the Den visibly shielded for prying eyes that want to take the Den as well as keep innocent travelers out of harms way from the shield.

The mages did assure Vuusoolta that the portal keys used would allow any traveler with the portal key to pass by the forest and to the Den. This would happen when the traveler took their second step into the guardian forest. That second step would transport them through the Den Portal and have the traveler on the path in front of the Den Gates. The guardian forest would live off of Earth, Flora, and Fauna magic and would be kept to by the mages.

Again Vuusoolta had them wait and he took the people vote again. They agreed. A pack of 6 Wuudre mages were now on the field of grass. They started chanting in Lupesh and soon their own Guardian Forest rose from the ground sealing off the Den from normal travel. Once the Guardian Forest was in place, the mages set in place Golems of stone, earth, tree, and metal within the Guardian Forest to ensure any magically resistant trouble is dealt with.

This pack of of Wuudre mages now live in the Guardian Forests watching all who come to the Guardian Forest. If they wish to enter the Den with good intentions the Wuudre mages will give them a one way portal key to the Den. Should the visitors prove more trustworthy, they will be provided a two way, multi-use Den Portal Key. The Den was now safe, secured, and given the opportunity to live in peace again.

((The Den Portal Keys will be made up as inventory items and as soon as we have them we will give them out. Until then, if you are in the den often, assume you have one already.))
