Ammy Spiritor

In the laboratory below the Philosopher?s Flask, Ammy worked on a complex array that had taken her nearly a week to draw out from memory. Several containers with a myriad of ingredients were lined around the alchemical array. The room was lit with cold blue light from several candelabras that held black candles that seemed never to drip. One wall of laboratory that had been painted to be a black board was scrawled in Lupesh glyphs displaying several complex alchemy equations.

Leaning back, Ammy took a deep breath to steady her paws. One stray line, one tremor in a letter or symbol and tonight?s alchemical spell would back fire in catastrophe. Her golden eyes looked at the array and scrutinized every detail. It was perfect, the magnetic chalk was holding in place. Ammy set the long stick chalk holder beside her. She stood and walked to a small, ground level window and removed the darken spell on it. Looking into the night sky, she saw the moon was full. It was time to start the spell of creation.

Her spell of creation though was merely a representation of that Great Magic. She didn?t have the power to create energy or life from nothing though. That was something only an ancient great god could do. She could however, with alchemy and science change the state of one type of energy into the state and form of another type of energy. In short, the shard of soul crystal about her neck the Shade had given her was the energy of interest.

Ammy had enjoyed a month or two of peace, but recently a meeting with Shade had kindled her desire for evil once again. She didn?t want to lapse back into her former ways of chaos and evil. So a thought had occurred to her. Her nature would always be one of light and darkness ever fighting for balance. What if she removed most of her darkness and aided her light side in winning this fight for balance? Would she then not be in peace?

Ammy returned to the alchemy array and triple checked everything once more. Tonight, she would break several laws of the Den and of nature and magic. Tonight, she will create a dark twin of herself that she will let roam and have free will. Ammy was not too na?ve though to allow this twin to have complete free will. Within the array were written names of all those she knew that the twin would be forbidden to touch as well as a spell modification that would let her add names to her twin later on.

Feeling the increasing hum of moon magic in her veins Ammy darkened all the windows to be completely opaque. She hummed a few bars of music that were deeply toned and dark. She continued the hum until the room resonated and echoed with the hum. Once the room sang the music she began putting words to the creation song, twisting a few verses to create something of darkness.

Singing, she picked up the first container opened it and poured out a white powder into a large silver basin. Next she poured several smaller containers of varying colored powders into the basin as well. A large, ornate vase of ancient design was lifted. A few intoning words and Ammy poured out a dark red liquid from the vase. The ingredients began to swirl and mix of their own accord as the array and laboratory pulled in magic power both arcane, ley line, and moon light.

Ammy next picked up a small pouch filled with jewelry. They were mostly earrings, a belly ring, and two nipple rings. These she had worn herself for years and were imbued with her own energy. Ammy upended the bag into the swirling mix of primordial ooze. She sang more and the ooze trembled with each high and low note she sang. One bottle remained and it was a fairly new bottle to be one of Ammy?s own collection. The bottle held a custom scent she had Eless make for her. This scent was for her and anyone else she knew to smell to know when evil was about. Uncorking the bottle, the unique scent filled the room and she poured most of the bottle into the silver basin.

She was nearly done with the components. One final ingredient remained. Reaching behind her neck, Ammy unclasped the silver necklace that held the sliver of soul crystal. She dropped the crystal into the mix and it flared with malicious purple and deep red light. Ammy changed the words she had been singing to a deeper darker language now.

The ooze writhed, wiggled, and soon began to grow as it took the form of Ammy. Within minutes a nearly identical twin of Ammy stood before her. The hair was more wild and spiky and the fur had slightly different shades in them. The twin had the sliver of soul crystal imbedded in the fore head and the scent of burnt amber, redwood, and sandalwood come from the twin. The twin took a deep shivering breath and the muzzle wrinkled showing sharp, pointed demon teeth.

Eyes opened and gazed at Ammy. They were tri colored. The iris was gold like Ammy?s eyes, but an inner ring of emerald was around the pupil. A ring of red was around the iris. The twin was wearing the jewelry Ammy had sacrificed in all the right places. Ammy crossed her arms and stared at the twin.

?Are you conscious?? Ammy asked.

?I am conscious sister.? The twin?s voice was cold, frigid, and held malice in it.

?Good. You are my darker twin. I have given you only some of my memories with the array that has created you. I have also given you a list of people you will not harm under penalty of pain if you so much as touch them. Should you think malice towards them you will pass out or you will vanish. Are we clear?? Ammy asked again.

?I understand. Am I being cast out as a loner?? the twin asked coldly.

?Yes, but you have free will and free reign to form your own pack. Now what shall be your name?? Ammy asked in thought.

?Ammi is a lovely name, but I seem to like Amaretto instead. You can call me Amaretto, Ammy.? She grinned with those sharp teeth.

?Very well Amaretto. I have a gift for you.? Ammy stepped to the corner of the laboratory and withdrew a sheathed dark steel long blade. She tossed the weapon to Amaretto.

Amaretto caught it deftly. She buckled the sword onto her furred, slender waist. It was the only item of clothing she had. The more Ammy looked at Amaretto the more she realized this how she would have turned out had she kept following Shade?s influence. A shake of her head, she walked over to a closet an threw some biker leathers to Amaretto that Street had gave Ammy long time ago. Amaretto pulled on the clothing looking like a biker chick from hell.

?You have been clothed and given life and a means to defend yourself. I cannot do anymore for you. You are now on your own sister.? Ammy spoke and intoned a teleport spell.

Amaretto was caught by the spell and cast of the Den. Ammy slumped against a wall feeling most of the heavy oppressive darkness lift from her flowing into Amaretto now. Ammy still had a dark side just muted now. Feeling tired from working the spell, she closed her gold eyes, slid to the floor and slept.

Amaretto, being out in the world now, looked about her with tri-colored eyes. Her heart sang with excitement. So much evil she could cause but first, she must find others. She didn?t like being alone.

Many months have passed since her creation. She had found a dark lord to follow, and had lead an army in valiant glory. But those times are now dim to her. The war ended badly, her mortal body destroyed, yet to her surprise, her spirit lived and remained. She had taken to haunting a necromancer in the sewers and was biding her time to get a new body.

As to her condition and why she was alive, that was a bit of study she was doing from time to time and was coming to a few conclusions. Most of them revolved around one solid fact. She was but a shard of Ammy's soul. It was likely that as long as Ammy lives, she lived even if her body was gone.
