"You have got to be kidding me." Ammy said in an unamused voice.
Several folders hit the office desk. Mirius was out for the day to rest so Ammy decided to go into the Governor's office to get back in practice while she could. Frostad just crossed his arms, his penstripe black suit crinkling just a tad.
"Why should I be kidding? City finances are a prime importance of a Governor as well as reacquainting yourself with your counsel. Your wife has done a splendid job pulling Den City out of the muck and chaos you left it in, but the fact that the city has a financial debt from the upgrades, retrofits and modernization still stands." He said.
Ammy sighed, picked up the financial sheet and looked it over again. "I can offset this. Spiritor family will be willing to shore up and pay off this debt, but you are right. We need to offset our annual spending with solid trade among the other cities and continents even. I've got to get that rail line established with Andu Kirost between Rhydin City and Den City. They'll help increase the flow of commerce. Do I dare touch the taxes?"
"You may wish to hold your paws on that one Ammy. If you mess with the taxes Governor Mirius has established you'll have to re-balance all of the progress made. However I would suggest meeting High Judge Cavaaroos and get that old goat to revise and update the Den Laws. They are, at best a good attempt by your stepson and former Governor Vuusoolta Wolf. They are in severe need of updating and review as well as a review of our multi-judge system. The courts have not been the same since Fleetian Wolf and Fen Stridar have stepped down from Foreign Affairs and Life/Medical jurisdiction. No one wants to fill the positions. The other judges are beginning to feel biased towards certain parties." Frost said flatly.
Ammy lened back rubbed her face. "So you are saying our city is nice, modern and wonderful but the judicial workings are rotting out. Lovely. Convene a meeting of all departments for this afternoon so we can work things out and get our internal affairs in order and caught up."
Frost bowed then stiffened back up. "As her majesty requests." He said, rubbing the public nickname of 'Queen of the Lupinossai' into her nose.
Ammy was glad he left promptly. She was tempted to see how far a head would fly from a thrown coffee mug. That Lupe was shrewd, cunning and wise but he was trusted as much as a Dingo near a child.
