Afternoon, June 30th..

The brown paper bag crinkled in his grasp as he hugged it to his chest. He pinched and fiddled with one of its edges as he made his way through the market on a road he hadn't used in a long time. He could even smell what was inside even though everything was covered in plastic wrappers.

He hadn't seen May or Evelyn in a while.. Which..sort of made sense as he thought about it.. They were always together.. He could only assume they'd been doing stuff together..and everyone just kept missing each other..

When he reached the tall apartment building, he tugged the mythril dagger out of its sheath on his leg and fitted it into the lock..shoving the door open with his shoulder and started climbing the stairs two at a time.

He didn't want things to turn out like they had the last couple of times..where no one checked in with her.. He didn't think she was anything less than okay.. Evelyn was with her, but still..

He was thinking about her too.. And he knew Katt was..

He set the bag of melon bread down, tucking it up against May's apartment door. He drew a lip shaped piece of paper out of his back pocket and settled it between a few off the wrappers. He'd thought about knocking..but in the end had simply touched the number on her door before turning and making his way out of the building.

In untidy, chicken scratch writing, the note read:

May and Evelyn ~

Hi!! We haven't seen you guys in a while..and hope you're doing okay. =) I'm sorry about the last time we all saw each other, and for how long it took me to do something like this. I kind of thought I'd see you before then..?

They had a sale on the melon bread stuff at the little bakery place. Hopefully you get this before someone else does..? I didn't take any. Promise.

Droplets of water from her shower head echoed within the sizable bathroom as they splattered into a pooling of excess water that hadn't the strength or accumulated mass to make it down the drain. The tiniest of hands shoved with all the strength thin arms could muster into the handle of her shower, cutting off the supply before it could gather itself for another drop.

Yet, despite the hopes, a final drop shimmied free from her wiggling, sending a dainty spray of water over bare, pink shaded toes. They wiggled reflexively, feet retreating from the ice cold sensation. "B-brr?"

Tangled, heavily drenched locks of ocean that were a shade shy of a natural black due to it being damp bobbed and weaved across the small of her back, sliced ticklish sensations that left her giggling. She couldn't reach the spot where hairs stretched to their ends, and any attempt to do so left her twirling like a dog that was chasing after its tail. She refrained from trying for too long, dizziness consuming her relatively quickly. "A-ahh?! N-no fair?"

She hopped from the confines of porcelain, toes curling into the cushion of soft wool of her bath mat, absently reaching aside to tug a draped towel from the shower curtain. She quickly dressed herself with it, yanking out the mess of hair from underneath so that she could wrap it in a second towel.

She preferred air drying. But, above that, she preferred to not trail water every step of the way as she prepared for her evening adventures with her beloved.

"E-Evvy-Lovelove?? I'm o-out," she called to the bedroom as she started to make her way toward the alcove that was their kitchen. Dinner hadn't been started yet, and she promised to cook again. She had read over a wonderful recipe that involved nothing but noodles and chicken.

The required pots were produced and set underneath the faucet to be filled when her nose twitched. She inhaled quickly, feeling a tingling trickle of sweet aroma run up her sinus passage like she was prepared to sneeze. Completely forgetting about the pot that was slowly amassing liquid, she stepped free from the kitchen and over toward the bedroom. A second whiff was taken. "N-not t-that wa-way?"

She turned in the direction of the front door, taking another sharp inhale. "T-there? I know that smell?" She started off after it, peeling the door open after undoing the various locks and chains. She spied the bag as it teetered with the direction of the ajar door, the note? and what all was contained within. Her eyes flashed to life in golden stars. "H-holy ba-bananas and apricots? melonpan!"

A devious look was given toward the nearby stairwell, suspecting somebody to pounce her the moment she took the bag in hand. A second look was given down the hall the opposing direction? the bag was snagged with such speed, it might've been missed all together. She was soon back inside, door sealed tight, locks and chains replaced.

She waddled carefully, albeit quickly, over to that familiar kotatsu to toss the bag on down. "H-hee? hello, little yums!"

She delicately removed several of the plastic wrapped goods, catching the note before it slid into obtrusion within the paper bag. Sliding fingers together like she were to snap, she parted it to read the contents over.

"O-oh" came a light sound from her once she finished.

She crumpled the note and set it to the table's surface like it were one of her discarded poems, fishing out the notepad that she often used to write Evelyn her love notes. Flipping open to a blank page, she took up that neon pink pen and started to scribble out a response:

Oiii,

We're doing beautifully, sir! We've been pretty busy the past little bit since summer is in full swing, you see. I've been preparing to take Evelyn out of town to hike the countryside, as I don't think I've ever had the opportunity to be out of the city's confines since I've been here. She hasn't either? so it's a perfect vacation for the two of us!

Don't sweat the small stuff, 'kay? I'll accept the apology if it'll make you feel better! I just don't think it's necessary to apologize! Time's too short to be worried about those kind of things all the time!

I completely forgot about Melonpan-o-rama week! Thanks for the reminder! I'll be sure to get my beautiful Evvy-sweetie and I out there in the coming days! Thanks for the gift. We'll gobble it up before the night is over!

--Evelyn and Mayu

The note was torn haphazardly from the journal. Rising from the table, she took to the bathroom to exchange the towel that concealed her torso for a large over shirt she got with Evelyn and a pair of royal blue bottoms that had zounds of yellow rubber duck prints on them. Grabbing an envelope, she made her way out and down the stairs.

She addressed the envelope to the church, being the only place that she knew that she could send things that would get to Toby and Katt in a semi-timely fashion. She tossed it in the bin, and returned upstairs to apartment she shared with her only and everything.
