Mayu, Toby and Tracy had been gone for over a day, much to the left behind Shamanista Five's dismay. Without their beloved Queen by their side, they felt lost, uneasy, and feeling the anxiety of not having direction. The youkai weren?t always so wayward with their emotions. It began only recently, when realizing that they depended on one another to push from one night into the following morning.

Even Sophia and Ria, who were known to engage in worthless cat fights to maintain their forgotten grudges, found solace in each other?s company.

Most were able to occupy themselves until Mayu would return to them. Emma began to take up a new hobby that didn?t involve eating tea bags for lunch, Helen had enough bedrooms to clean daily to keep her happy for a lifetime, Ria remained being Ria, who wasn?t unlike a honey badger, and Melissa had the wondrous job of keeping Sophia in a happy mood to prevent her from spiraling out of control.

?Bu? wha? if she doesn?t come back!?? Sophia exclaimed, collapsing into an overstuffed chair in her room that ate up most of her dressed figure. Sophia was taller than the rest of the girls by a relatively large margin. In turn, she was capable of moping to a much larger degree than all of them combined. Melissa had herself quite the handful. And even with her hundreds of years of experience, each time was no different from learning how to ride a bike for the very first time.

?She?ll return,? Melissa calmly answered, seated in the chair across from her counterpart, turning a page in her grimoire, a hefty book said to house na extraordinary number of magical secrets. Beginning with her large army of sentient dolls Melissa has at her disposal.

??ah dun? bel'eve it! She ain't comin' back e'er!" the tall blonde continued in her rant.

Since the moment Mayu stepped out the door, it'd been like this, Melissa recalled. It ached her head, which was amusing to her, since she didn't necessarily possess anything up there to cause ache. Youkai such as they hadn't any means of feeling pain. ?then Sophia comes around?

"If that were true, I'd be questioning why you still carry a body and aren't back in Shamanista right now feeling Flora's gardens," Melissa mused, lively sapphire eyes lifting from a diagram of an unorthodox spell. "Why don't you go outside and blow off some steam? I'm sure Ria could use another beating."

Sophia wasn't much inclined to tackle her favorite hobby, a sure sign she was spiraling into youkai depression. It wasn't much different than normal depression. The main symptom, that mortals probably took great satisfaction in, was transparency. She shook her head. "Nah? 'ah dun wanna piss 'round wit' 'er dum'ass."

Melissa snapped shut the large tome, setting it down in her lap. "You say that now, but in ten minutes you're going to hear her open that fangy mouth of hers, and you're going to crack." She rose from the chair, setting the book down in place of her rear. "I've been hearing an awful lot of popping going on outside today. Have you heard them?"

Again, Sophia shook her head. "'ah dun care much fer listenin'. Bun' a noise 'n junk," said the woman who never missed an opportunity to blow something, anything, up.

The puppeteer withdrew from her partner, heading over to the nearby window. Parting the curtain, she examined the skyline, which was glistening with various, exceptionally colorful bursts of light. "They say there's some mortals from another realm that live here and celebrate by blowing stuff up." She didn't know the name of the holiday, or even the purpose of it, really. Why did they need a reason to make starry bursts of light explode in the sky? "Sometimes, they even detonate their own hands in their stupidity. Doesn't that sound like fun?"

Melissa didn't hear Sophia respond, which was potentially a start. She glanced back, grinning. "You know, we could surprise the Queen and her bodyguards when they return by doing something similar."

The high-class magician turned her amber gaze onto the puppet master. "'ah dun much feel like losin' a 'and, 'er nothin."

"Not that, you dimwit," Melissa huffed, retreating from the window to retrieve the pouting youkai. "I'm talking about blowing stuff up with our magic to celebrate their return. It'll give us reason to make a spectacle and make them know that we missed them!"

Sophia made no intention of showing it, but Melissa had a wonderful idea that sparked interest. Were she not solidifying right there on the spot, her pout would have carried an entirely different feel to it. "?yea', 'ah guess, 'er whatev'?"

"Oh, don't be like that," tugging on Sophia's claimed hand, Melissa guided them toward the bedroom door. "Let's just be careful not to make any holes in the walls of this building. I didn't enjoy boarding up that apartment when you and Ria had your bedroom problems there?"
