It was large. It was purple. It sat behind the bar at the Red Dragon Inn. It had a sign tacked upon it, showing that it was property of Empress and Ice Queen, so of course no one had touched it.
IT... was a rather large, PURPLE pumpkin, courtesy of Elly's vineyards of course!
The first pumpkin... it was a failure, though not through fault of The Witch. Certain foreign liquids had caused her beautiful pumpkin to be nothing more than a giant stink bomb. So of course, she couldn't very well make pie from it! But this pumpkin? It was perfect~ It would make plenty of pies owed to Jewell and Wyheree too!
Of course, even the most magically endowed of vegetables went bad after a certain period of time, so something needed to be done with the pumpkin soon! It's why The Witch was up so early, riding Peggy the Rainbow pegasus towards the Red Dragon Inn. With such a valiant and gorgeous steed it didn't take much time to get there at all. Upon arrival, The Witch slid off Peggy, offered a gentle rub to her snout before she headed on inside, leaving the pegasus outside to graze upon patches of grass.
Wide violet eyes peered about the inn, empty! What luck! A clap of hands in excitement and a clicka clacka of heels to the wooden floor were the only sounds to pierce the veil of silence in the inn as The Witch hurried towards and around the bar. Spotting the pumpkin she was looking for she peered over it, examining... it seemed to be in perfect condition still.
"Wonderful~"
Now it was time for The Witch to get to work...sorta. That large green hat was plucked off her crimson head, and a hand dipped in to dig around. One...two...three...four...five. Five pumpkinheads were pulled from the hat and set upon the ground. A point point to the purple pumpkin was offered as she set the hat back on her head.
"I need you guys to roll that to the kitchen~" Pointing finger travelled towards the door behind the bar that led into the kitchen, and soon, she followed along, pushing past the pumpkinheads and through that door.
A quick glance around was offered before The Witch poked and prodded random things, packages, boxes, and other assorted items she probably had no business around. Jars were looked at, opened, sniffed, closed, put back... the refridgerator was opened and items within were shuffled around as she studied them... She frowned just a bit before she turned to hop up on the counter, one tiny leg crossing over the other as she waited...waited...waited...
Finally!
With a few grunts and various 'ba's, the five pumpkinheads pushed the large purple pumpkin through the door and into the kitchen. More grunts and heaving as they lifted the large thing from the ground and hoisted it up on to the counter next to The Witch with a dull thunk.
The Witch cooking... it was hit and miss. She couldn't cook, but she couldn't..not cook. A job this big however? She couldn't do it... despite the fact that she had told Wyheree and Jewell that she could. THAT..is where the pumpkinheads came in. The Witch grinned a bit as she gestured towards the purple pumpkin, violets gazing over the panting pumpkinheads.
"You guys know what to do~"
That they did. So with heavy hearts...they set off to do their job. Purple pumpkin was cut, carved, opened, scraped, pumpkin seeds removed... Bags of sugar were dragged from cupboards, milk and eggs were pulled from the fridge...bowls, pans, spoons and other utensils were collected from cabinets... The pumpkinheads were hard at work! With a pumpkin this size, surely, they could make at least 8 pies!
The Witch watched her workers, smile spreading across her face. She was most pleased with their performance, Jewell and Wyheree would be sure to love the pies when they were done! Oh... but she should help, shouldn't she? Especially since she would be taking credit for all this work. With a firm nod and purse of lips, The Witch hopped off the counter and towards the stove with a purpose...
"Can't forget to pre-heat the oven~"
