Topic: Casting the Anchor - Corellon's Sanctuary

The swirl of teleportation lines fused the forms together of twenty or so people standing atop a cliff. Beside them was a road leading from the northwest and down into the canyon. Most was barren with spots of desert like shrubbery, cactus and small patches of desert grass... except for the center of the canyon about a mile or so up ahead.

In the center of the canyon, which dropped nearly a thousand feet in altitude, lay the one spot of abundant and luscious life, a place known as Corellon's Sanctuary. The place was about a half mile across in the shape of a circle, the outer edge seemed to have a hedge of a forest surrounding it. Inside the circle of trees was another circle, a clearing with shorter foiliage in the shape of a crescent moon, a small stream that looped around the outside and circled round the crescent to one side of the smaller circle where the land dropped with a waterfall into the center, a formation that with the crescent shape made up the shape of a moon.

It all looked like a moon with a crescent in the middle of a small forest ring.

"We can't transport into the forest. We get interference from the compounds in the ground around it. Here's as close as we get." the team leader informed the headmaster and Jalek.

The walk to the sanctuary was not too difficult, gentle slopes to the road had been carefully constructed. The road did not go through the middle of the forest area as it looked like it should've. It went around the southern half to the other side and kept going southeast. From the road was a small trail that they walked, a path made by deer.

Getting through the forest, they came to the clearing, but instead of following the stream, as the path did, they followed the edge of the clearing all the way around until they came to a point where the land shifted down again at a gentle slope. At the top of the slope were hedges that kept one from taking a direct route. Where the hedges ended were clearly a place where the land dropped with a sheer cliff. They could see the stream leading to the center of that cliff and down a waterfall into the land below.

The land below formed a circle. Around part of that circle was the cliff formation and the clearing that formed a crescent around the lower land. From above, it viewed as Corellon's Symbol, a crescent moon. The greenery of Corellon's Sanctuary was a stark difference to the surrounding desert like canyon.

As they moved along the hedge, they came to an actual wooden wall with a double set of doors. Stepping through them, they could look directly across and see they were still level with the waterfall while the land sloped gently downward to a pool at the bottom of the waterfall... rows of fallen logs carved as benches lined in a semicircle before the pool. Between the pool and benches was an alter atop a short dias sculpted out of dark blue marble with golden veins. Magical ruins and enscriptions adorned the alter, most notably the symbol of Corellon.

Briarius handed each man an onyx.

"Form a perimeter and bury that at your feet."

"Where would you like the perimiter set?.. inside this temple? ...around the clearing, how about the whole forested area.. or the whole canyon."

The senior officer, a lieutenant, inquired while he tossed the onyx bauble in the air a few times, catching it and trying to seem like he was inspecting it.

Briarius

"Where ever you deem appropriate, Lieutenant."

He smirked and added,

"...and Lieutenant, I wouldn't drop that if I were you."

He turned his attentions to unpacking his pouches. He wasn't wearing the armor provided him, only his traveling robes. While he was doing this, he spoke to Jalek.

"What do you feel is your best strength right now?"

The simple warning caused the lieutenant's brow to raise a bit while he peered past the item and to the headmaster. His immediate thought was that it was an explosive kind of thing and it made him kind of nervous in a place like this. It was, after all, a Sanctuary dedicated to a God.

"Sir, we have equipment to thwart teleportation and gating, force her to give us time to see them coming should they come here. I had planned to use that around the forested area, forcing them to have to walk, run or fly in. It'll give us time to see them coming. We also have equipment to get a better scan of the surrounding land and skies, should they come that way. I'd planned to set that up around the top of the canyon... four point North, South, East and West. But these little black baubles.... I don't know what they do, so I can't make that decision on where they might be appropriate. I need more information, Sir."

Jalek was about to answer Briarius when the Lieutenant spoke up. It seemed a valid and important thing and she nodded to defer the conversation back to the soldier. It sounded to her that it would take them some time to set up and their question was far more important at the moment. She simply took a step back tried to adjust the armor they had given her. Her normal armor was no longer worn, set back in her room at the Temple. Considering this situation might have a need for some, she, unlike the headmaster, had opted to use the offered protection.

Briarius

"Very powerful Necromancy. They are a failsafe in case something doesn't go as planned. They will surround your lifeforce in a protective shield. Set up as you see fit Lieutenant"

AlexArrowny

The Lieutenant nodded. "I understand."

He didn't... really... and was a bit leary with that pale explanation...but he'd tell the men to keep them where the headmaster told them to... buried at their feet.

With a nod, the Lieutenant was off, gathering the men, eight were sent to the high ground around the canyon in pairs of two... eight to set the anti teleportation/gate shielding devices around the forest ... and he stayed in camp with the other to set up communications. They were already very familiar with the area and knew it almost as well as the enemy.

While the two men talked further, Jalek took a good look around the place. The condition of the grounds seemed a little neglected but not overgrown. Someone had been caring for the place, though at a minimal effort. She waited until she saw the lieutenant walk away before she spoke up.

"Strength? I'm a warrior, Briarius. Long bow, longsword are my weapons of choice."

Something about the alter caught her gaze. She took hold of Briari's hand, gently tugged him along as she moved closer to the alter. Emerald hues gazed over the ruins enscribed. She recognized the symbol of Corellon and some of the celestial words...

"Heart of Home." she pointed to the words. "We should pay homage. This is his home. She was his priestess. He might have something to say about what we are going to do."

Briarius

"All in due time."

Briarius looked around and waited for the men to bury their gems. When they did, he chanted a spell of abjuration and necromancy. When the time came, these men would be protected from Sha'uri. He was not going to watch more innocents die.

"Now, a note, your ruby has been enchanted further by me to keep you safe. When things go as I plan they will, I need you to trust my magic to keep you safe."

"Lieutenant Dan? Are we supposed to unbury those things if we move?" an ensign asked, shifting his weight from one foot to the other clearly in a state of urgency but wasn't going to leave from standing atop that bauble he burried at his feet. He'd heard what it was for and was afraid to leave that spot.

Lieutenant Dan pondered that aspect a moment while he took in the condition of his ensign. It was obvious the man had to urinate. Digging the bauble up was never mentioned... and surely the men moving around would be an obvious thing, no? His mind raced through the possibilities, eventually becoming perturbed by the lack of an answer. Finally he settled on something.

"Just go do what you gotta do, Ensign. Hopefully there's some kind of distance factor in it. I don't want you to sour your pants there, boy. Go take care of business and never mind the bauble."

Lt.Dan just shook his head slowly as he watched the ensign dash for the bushes. Then his gaze went outward for a moment. He knew it wouldn't be long before the anti-teleportation device was up and functioning. Communications were almost set. However, it would be a couple of hours before the long range sensors were set up and a few more after that before those men had returned. He glanced briefly at the headmaster and his companion before he adjusted his gaze on his task.

Shauri

"Of course." Jalek replied to Bri while letting her gaze dart to the movement of the ensign dashing towards the bushes. She caught the shaking of Lt. Dan's head and something ironic about his expression. A grin graced her lips, obviously guessing the ensign's plight. She brought her keen emerald hues back to Bri, mirth sparked despite the subject she talked about. There simply was no fear and every bit of acceptance in her gaze.

"I'm not afraid to die, you know. Everyone does at some point. But what an honor to do so in the service of the Lady. I'm sure your magic will protect me, but I also know how the best laid plans can go astray. And I do not want you to worry about me and lose focus on our task. She needs to be stopped, and you need to succeed here. Do not let me be a distraction to that. Do not let anything distract you from that task. Promise me?"

Briarius

"Trust me, you will not."

He began to prepare the area for the ritual.

After 15 minutes, several icons were set out.

"Jalek, care to commune to The Revered Patron of Elves of Exodii now?"

AlexArrowny

Within fifteen minutes, communications were set. The lieutenant contacted the base and relayed the report of their current status. He had set up the comm area near the bottom of the slope but to the side, not directly in front of the alter. There was a tree growing along the side there which offered some cover from the elements should it rain. The place had no roof, it was quite open to the skies. He wasn't too worried, the forecast called for nothing but clear skies.

Seeing the headmaster begin to make preparations for something, he decided that right next to the comm unit was going to be the best place for him. The handful of men that stayed, were spread out around the outside edge of the inner circle, some stationed by the door and some spread atop the cliff above. There was only one other inside the apparent inner circle area. He was put on the other side opposite of the the Lieutenant.

Shauri

Jalek nodded and assumed the position for the commune, following Briarius' lead.

Briarius

Briarius reached out to Exodii's God of Elves. In his mind was what he had planned. He wanted permission to anchor time so that time shifting would not be permitted.

However, little did he know, Briarius' thoughts were hiding a secret message that only Corellon could decipher.

Shauri

While the two were trying to commune with Corellon, the form of a young Elvin male appeared sitting on the alter, legs dangling over the side in a casual pose crossed at the ankles while his hands rested on the stone on either side of him.

Long golden locks were tied back by soft braids. His light clothing was casual, loose fitting tan pants and a white shirt, and soft moccasins adorned his feet. There was no question about it, it was Corellon himself.

His emerald hues filled with mirth as he watched the two in the ritual. His appearance was ever so quiet and so unobtrusive that even the guards watching had to blink a few times trying to remember just when the form appeared. Perhaps he'd been there the whole time. Either way, none of the guards felt any alarm as they, and everyone, were filled with a sense of security and peace.

The elder God smiled, listening to Briarius' requests. Perhaps it was amusing to him. It was hard to tell. That smile faded to sadness just before he opened his mouth to speak.

"There's no need for formalities. You were always in my presence here. And I shall not allow these people to be harmed, not in my temple. I'm sorry you felt the need to defend them further. It was unnecessary, although thoughtful."

"My... daughter has gone beyond my reach. Even I have things out of my control in my own realms. I suppose life would be exceptionally boring without it but... sometimes I could almost want it to be so. But then I'd be bored. My existence is anything but boring."

He seemed to let that sink in for a moment.

"Look at my first wife... and daughter. You know the story. And now Sha'uri... It breaks my heart to see her this way. However, I know some things must run its course. I can only hope in the end she will be freed of this hold, though I know it won't be without its consequences....."

His gaze seemed to study Briarius quite intently for a moment. Of course, he saw through the ruse the younger god had put up on everyone, and his frown deepened.

"I see through much, Briarius. I see things for what they truly are. I see around it, too. Deceit, no matter how harmless it may seem, is still deceit." those words were lined with a double meaning... ones that were obvious to Bri.

"What you request, what you think you can do, is not going to go as you think. But I will help you in this.. entrapment upon my daughter if only for the greater good. What needs done, must be done. So I will help you give permanence, that only I can undo, to keep her from time travel. But it will only work if She is truly here and when they are all in the same time line. There will be more of her... and is so as we speak."

Kneeling in front of the alter, Jelek felt the voice of Corellon rise within her like the warmth of a hotspring bubbling around her. She opened her eyes and was in awe of the maker of Elves, thankful for her existence, knowing it was only becuase of him... as it was for all Elves everywhere.

She also could see the sadness seep into him and it brought a new revelation to her mind. Just how much the Gods were as prone to those things as anyone else could be. The thought didn't lessen her opinion, it only deepened her own feelings of them as her heart worshipped this Maker of Elves.

As she listened, she was lost to the undertones and double meanings, but the fact that he had said there were more Sha'uri's didn't go unnoticed. Still, she was too much in awe to ask what that meant or how that was possible. She kept quiet and listened, though unrealized by her, her hand seemed to find it's way to touch Corellon's leg about mid calf as if to comfort the God of Elves.

Briarius

Briarius' expression did not change.

"I do what is required of me for the greater good. I humbly thank you for your permission and will start right away."

The Headmaster bowed and moved off to begin casting.

Shauri

Corellon nodded to Briarius but placed a hand on Jalek's shoulder. As he watched the headmaster leave, he spoke quietly to her.

"This is where things get crazy, my daughter. Trust when I tell you, no one will die here." Only then did his kind and fatherly gaze fall to her visage. Emerald hues studied her intently for a moment before he gently pulled her to a stand while getting down from the alter himself to stand. He cupped her face gently. "It is elsewhere that many have and will die. But know that it is all for the greater good. Once more into the breech, my child... once more and then no more... no sacrifice will be in vain this time... none. There will be peace in the end."

He was telling her something without saying it. She felt that much churn in the pit of her stomach. And even though no words said it, no thoughts brushed any kind of a picture of it.. she felt her time in this world was not for long. She knew right then she would not see the end of this war, though she would see things through past the event of this place. Even though this was something she had accepted before; simply knowing shed a new level to accept all the same. It was only a moment of thought that passed before she nodded acceptance yet again.

Corellon kissed Jalek's forehead and the two moved to their places, contributing to the ritual that would eventually entrap Sha'uri and end the shuffle of time....

Briarius

The Headmaster's casting was grand and very protracted. He definitely was taking his time, spending much more emphasis than he should. He was so wrapped up in casting, he wasn't paying attention to the world around him, lost in the casting.

Briarius

Date: 2010-04-28 13:21 EST
Those who could sense such things began to feel that the river of time was beginning grow more powerful. As if something mystical was strengthening it against time travel. The Headmaster was pouring a lot of energy into this casting. His close to divine power bolstering the spell. However, this would leave him unable to defend himself as his powers were all concentrated here.

Time went by slowly for those not involved in the ritual. Lt. Dan re-adjusted the watch once the deviced were set in place around the canyon. Word came in that the Citadel had been located, within a reasonable distance, and night fell over the land while the ritual continued. The next day proved to be no different. Chanting and mixing of things, pouring from this vial into that vial, strange hand motions and words spoken by the three performing the task were seen by those in sight of the process. Lt.Dan began to realize the stamina one had to have in order to continue rituals like this.... hour after hour, day after day. Kinda made him glad he didn't have to perform these things. The afternoon began and reports came in about Magril, Zyphon, Halexville and other surrounding villages and the like sending troops in to merge with Exodian forces. Meanwhile, Lt. Dan kept his men rotating on two hour shifts, so that they wouldn't get overworked on the watches.....

Briarius

It became apparent to Corellon that the real Briarius was taking slowly over at his Academy. The fake had done his job and created the magical anchor that allowed the real Headmaster and his cohorts to cast from the safety of their location without fear of Sha'uri. Of course, no one but Corellon would see this and if Briarius's soul was sought out, this was the only one there was.

Sha'uri wasn't the only one who could make copies.

For all intents and purposes, it would seem that if you destroyed this fake Briarius, you will have destroyed him for good. However, there would be no distortion in the ritual of time anchoring.

A few days had gone by while Briarius, Jalek and the handful of Exodian Forces troops were waiting and watching for any sign that Sha?uri had taken the bait and was ready to *swallow* it like a cat would a canary. Sha?uri proved to have more control then this and the group set in to endure the wait. Slowly the scans were noticed on their area coming from the Citadel itself. Still, the day waned well into the night to about an hour or so before the next daybreak when Alex contacted them again. This was within the hour that Sha?uri had finished amassing her undead army?..

?How are things moving there?? Alex asked Lt. Dan.

Lt. Dan glanced briefly around. ?Ready to Rock N Roll, sir. We?re poised and waiting. Anything more on the Citadel?s actions??

?It hasn?t moved but there is movement crawling all over the place nearby. It appears that either an army is moving in on her, or she?s amassing an army somehow pulling them in from above and below ground. It?s hard to say what kind of an army it will be since our scans can?t seem to penetrate too far down. There?s something in the natural ore interfering with our scans. Although it would seem her army could be bigger then I would?ve thought she could pull on her own so swiftly?which tells me she?s got help. Our clerics have divined that she is reaching out to command the undead?.? Alex let that trail.

?Great? it?s the dead zone.? Lt. Dan quipped sarcastically. Yet his sigh was deep and heavy, burdened with the horror that this would bring. ?What do you think her target will be? Us or?something closer to her??

?My instinct says closer to her? and Krexarn is the closest city with resources. She?ll probably try to use it to set up a base of control and then from there?. Conquer outward until there are enough reserves. It?s what I?d do if my ultimate goal was to take over the planet. It?s why I?m gearing troupes for transport that direction. Our ships are back and in line so we?ll be able to amass our army there swifter then we?ve been doing getting them to rally here. Oh and by the way? you owe me twenty Exodian nobles.?

?You?re kiddin? they lost cookies?? Lt. Dan couldn?t believe the dwarves had gotten sick from their transport in. He?d made a bet with Alex a long while ago that if dwarves were ever transported they were hardy enough to withstand the usual side effects.

?About 82.3% failed.? Alex informed him.

?Aye sir? got it right here in my pocket. Next time I see you, it?s yours. So what are you doing about Krexarn?? he asked.

?We?ve been trying to contact Krexarn officials but they seem to be too busy scoffing at our toys and giving us the run around red tape trail. Our representatives are doing all they can. It is our first contact with them. I have a feeling, though, that once the battle starts they?ll take us a bit more seriously and actually want our help. If everything goes as planned with your end, we?ll need you all to join the rest of us as soon as possible. Keep me appraised and keep your wits about you.?

?Aye sir. I?ll keep communications open with you and heavily encrypted.?

?Good idea. Glad we were able to upgrade the systems recently. She?ll have a hard time breaking through those codes. Don?t forget to let her into the area.? The grin on Alex? face could be heard in his voice.

?No problem, sir? a piece of cake.? Lt. Dan grinned with confidence.

Shauri

Date: 2010-09-20 19:49 EST
Lt. Dan stared into the west as the sun had dropped low in the sky. There was only an hour or so left of daylight. He?d kept his eyes open and senses alert, so when the flicker in the sensors bleeped, he knew it was time.

?Look alive everyone! She?s breakin through.? He warned.

She was already materializing in the sky above them, breaking through just inside the shields as her form became solid matter and shifted into a draconic flight, keeping her size relative to human.

Sha?uri could have materialized closer in but she needed a few moments to play out a distraction. She would not have gotten that time had she appeared within their midst. Although her body went through the motions of flying, her mind swiftly honed in on the communications operator. He was helpless to prevent her from slipping into his thoughts, feeling the panic and fear rise within him at the sight of her?. A fear unlike most others; an all consuming dragon fear. She let out a bellowing roar, the cacophony of echoes bounced off the canyon walls enhancing the sound tenfold.

The man was so frightened he felt himself go numb and frozen with fear. He didn?t realize the thoughts being controlled in his head, never realized his fingers moved over the portable console or that they typed the encryptions in and locked the communications down from them all. No one realized it. They were all focused on her as she swiftly descended with a circular flight.

Lt. Dan looked to the com officer and saw him frozen with fear. ?Shake out of it boy! Look away from her! Get on that horn and tell home base she?s here!?

The man finally blinked and was able to look away, only because Sha?uri had accomplished what she wanted from him. The man visibly shook his head to clear his thoughts and focused on the task at hand. It became quickly apparent that the communications were cut off.

?No can do, sir!? the poor guy was at a loss. ?We?re cut off. They must?ve popped through our encryption because we?re locked out! I can?t even call in our men from the edges of our perimeter!?

Sha?uri landed near the top of the cliff, shifting her form back to humanoid as she stepped to the edge next the top of the waterfall above the inner sanctuary.

?Briarius!! Corellon!! Whatever you think you?re doing ... it?s not going to work. You?ll fail!?

She didn?t waist any time jumping off the cliff with a summersault and landing smack in the center of their ritualistic endeavor, allowing herself to be surrounded by Briarius, Corellon and Jalek. In the blink of an eye, twin long swords were in her hands? She was clearly ready for the fight.

Briarius

Date: 2010-09-22 06:47 EST
"Not going to work? Logic dictates that if it were not, you wouldn't even be here...unless you missed me that much. I sense that you have involved other deities, wicked ones at that. Can you not see that this course only leads to your destruction? Summon your undead, I will put them to rest. I can hear those souls screaming from here and I will vow to ease their torment. Sha'uri, you do not have to do this. Let us help you."

Shauri

Date: 2010-09-22 11:39 EST
"Please, child.... don't do this. Listen to him. Give it up now." Corellon's voice was thick with emotion. "I loved you as if you were direct of my own flesh and blood. Your tenacity against evil was far more then even myself! Yet to look at you now... breaks my heart as yours is filled more and more with the deepest most darkest depths of the hells. Your hunger for destruction is turning insatiable. You will doom us all if you continue. Please, child... you have to stop this."

The trinkits given to Briarius and Jalek from Sharilis began to grow warm. The connection to her was beginning to grow. It almost seemed as if Sha'uri was faultering during this, the look in her eyes softened ever so slightly her gaze shifted downwards. Her senses were still alert, but inside something was going on as flashes of gree flickered in her eyes.

Jelek seemed to stare at Sha'uri and a light began to glow in her eyes. She whispered, "Sharilis..."

Sha'uri shook her head visibly as the souind of the name seemed to bring her attention back to the here and nowl. "No!"

Both swords twirled round in her hand and then thrust down as she stabbed into the ground. A wave of dark energy blasted outward shaking the ground in waves. The guards around were thrown several feet, the walls and floor were lined with small cracks. Adn the door to the Sanctuary was blown wide open.

Briarius

Date: 2010-09-22 12:28 EST
The Headmaster used some of his powers to remain standing and help brace Jalek from Sha'uri's blast.

"It seems that you can make no choice but follow the will of destruction. For that, I am sorry."

Briarius started the final few words that would complete the ritual.

Shauri

Date: 2010-09-27 23:21 EST
Jalek was thrown as the men were, landing on her side several feet away and out of the circle that she, Corellon and Briarius formed around Sha?uri. Even so, her chanting continued as she pulled herself around and stood once again.

Corellon was pushed a step back, yet like Briarius he began the last few somatic gestures of his spell.

Sha?uri heard the Headmaster?s words, felt the binds of time converge and slow things down. In fact, time did slow to a crawl compared to the rest of the world outside of the Sanctuary.

Time slowed and centered her, grounded her to the current lines. She felt them all slip away except the one she now existed in. She could feel Corellon?s influence binding her further in line with it. The thought of being stuck enraged her further.

?No!!? The swords were swiftly pulled from the ground and she leapt at Briarius, making the distance with ease and brought both blades high, twirling them round and bore down in a criss cross motion.

It was a perfect attack, taking the Headmaster by surprise ?almost. The blades dropped swiftly as the last word of his spell was uttered. Acid dripped down on his clothing, electricity sparked as the blade came in contact. Flames spewed over his form and ice began to form within and she sought to consume his soul.

The one who was surprised the most was Sha?uri herself.

In that moment she saw the ruse for what it was?. It wasn?t the Headmaster, but a simulacrum with only a small spark of his soul to make the magic work. Only Briarius could?ve done this and gotten away with it, as versed in Necromancy as he was. To have pulled the wool over a soul dragon?s eyes like this, took a great deal of ability.

It was too late for her to do anything about it? the blades sank in, the damage was done but not before he?d uttered that last word. Then suddenly he stopped speaking, stunned by the action of the blow. He stared at her a moment while she realized what he was and then he began to shudder and everything began to slow..

The next moment she watched in slow motion while the simulacrum exploded before her, sending shards of magic out at her. On instinct, she raised a hand as if to stop them, but the shards cut through her hand, through her armor, through her skin, her bones and through her heart like a hot knife through butter. And yet? there was no hole, no blood, no sign that she could see. And still the pain drove her to her knees. The pain had a name.. that of confinement to one time.

She saw the simulacrum was destroyed, watched as the magic of it moved out and around, coalescing back into a point, like a small tunnel. She suddenly became aware of something on the other side of the point. It was Briarius. Then she realized.. Briarius was still in Ravensheart all this time casting his spells through an opening linked to this side.

?Damn you!? she cursed him and immediately looked for other opponents still on this side of Bri?s little worm hole. ?This changes nothing!?

Her gaze first found Jalek getting up from the ground. The Wild Elf quickly drew a weapon and started towards Sha?uri but as she did Jalek faded from view. Sha?uri caught sight of an Exodian. He also disappeared likewise, as did another, and another and another until all that was left was herself and Corellon.

She didn?t even have a chance to get up and face him. He was waiting for her to look at him. In that moment was the very last gesture, a motion with his hands as if he?d just let go an arrow at her.

To catch a flying arrow was something she knew how to do. Catching a magical one was another game altogether. One had to first see the target, but one first had to have a visible target to see. If the others had been there, they couldn?t have seen it, except Briarius, or maybe Jalek if she had time to cast a spell. Sha?uri could see the magical weave and follow the line of the arrow.

Her hand swiftly moved to catch the invisible proverbial thing. Again, she realized too late that?s exactly what Corellon wanted her to do. The arrow exploded in her hand and she felt something tighten the pain that the exploding Briarius had left in her.

She roared with anger as she turned full on Corellon.

?You can?t win this?.? She seethed while she picked up her blades again, twirled them round.

Ye?ve got ?t expel me, child.. let me go?. Her mother?s voice in her head seared the pain to the core, causing her to double over as if vomiting. In essence, she was but not to expel rotten food, but the part of the soul she ate that belonged to her mother.. The soul of her mother darted inside of that tiny tunnel leading to Ravensheart, following it to its end.

She watched as the soul of Sharilis was expelled from her, leaving her to her own means.
?There are other ways?next time, I shall have all of you.? she vowed to find them and destroy Sharalis. Even so, her blades twirled round and into her own heart by way of disembowelment. She made the cut stop just before the hearts.

?Briarius Ravensheart? Corellon Larethian. I banish you both from Exodii! I curse this holy place in the name of Lloth! May you never return to it again! May you both rot from the inside out!?

Two things happened simultaneously. First, the blades were set in motion, severing her hearts. It?s all she needed to get them to stop beating, allowing her to claim death. Second, baring down on the item between her teeth breaking open to unleash the magic, she expelled her last breath carrying it?s force with it. Her breath gained momentum swiftly into a cyclonic blast.

While Briarius was already not in Exodii? his little opening was still there, for all of two breaths of a second and then it was shut and his way with it into Exodii was barred and secured locked shut.

On the other hand, Corellon was right there in front of her. The wind blasted him away to the far side of the Sanctuary, throwing him up against the wall and causing it to crack there and across the ground to the alter. His alter had been desecrated and the ban was taking its hold, securing the borders and banishing him from this place and all of Exodii. Corellon vanished, but not before she saw the toll in his heart. It was as if he could?ve died there with her on the spot.

She dropped to her knees and from there to the ground, the blades fell from her grip. On her back, she stared up at the sky with lifeless eyes while the shadowed form eased from her body and stepped away. Five feet is all it moved, keeping well within range just as she was reminded to do.

The form looked like Sha?uri but with the addition of several squid like appendages sprouting from her back and easily ten feet long in reach. They were moving slowly back and forth like a whip primed and ready to strike. It was like the darkness had come to life in this form. The eyes, though, were not covered in the black inky darkness, they were a dark amethyst shade with just a tiny, ever so tiny, spark of sapphire.

Gazing around she could see her spell had taken a toll on the place. All the foliage was blackened and dried where moments before it was lush and well kept. There was a stench laid over the area as if the place had been buried in decay and feces. The altar was cracked in two and the waterfall flowed with blood. Corellon would be gone from Exodii for the day, cut off from it, his power was useless for one day.

?Good, then he can?t interfere with the battle.?

The sun was already set as she spoke. The battle would be starting. She realized in that moment how so much time had just gone by in that brief encounter of battle with the two gods. She wondered how the other copies were progressing.

When the light had finally faded behind the western horizon, the dark form turned back towards the body, which had technically just been through it?s first death. The hearts had not been obliterated and they were still contained in the body, so she was sure she could return to herself and heal the wounds in an instant.

It worked.

She was also sure that once she had herself healed and functioning in her body again, she could time travel once again.

She tried it. It didn?t work.

She tried again. It still didn't work.

She tried once more and realized that it would never work.

Her rage was almost as much as the rage she expelled while in the arctic, the very rage that had launched her onto the path of evil at a full blown pace. For the first time, she looked down to her hands and saw the symbols seared into her skin?

Dead center in the palm of her right hand was a lantern over an open book. This was Briarius? symbol. Surrounding it was a slightly larger one, that of a longbow in the shape of a crescent moon. This was Corellon?s seal.

Now it knew? Time was locked for her even more permanent then death. Now it knew that this was the beginning of the end.

?So be it.?

Sha?uri turned from the place and went back to the Citadel.
