The reports were flooding in from the jumpgate to RhyDin. Admiral Arrowny was interrupted in the middle of a meeting with Exodian town officials. Within three minutes, he was back in the Forces compound there on Exodii and again recieving reports from the gate in orbit. Not only was the city under attack on the ground, but from orbit as well.

"Gods, please... don't let my mother be involved in this." He knew already she was somewhere in the mix.

The battle with her on Exodii had taken its toll in many places. His forces were depleted and everything was still under repair, but he couldn't sit by and not do anything. RhyDin was a livelihood for many of the Exodians with the trades they accomplished between the two worlds.

"Ready the Armegeddon, we're going into battle. Send 500 troops into RhyDin to help with the defense on the ground, with another 500 for backup. Offer to bring civilians to safety here in Exodii and lock the gates from use by anyone but us.. tripple our guards. Errect a hemispherical forcefield over the gate in the city, protecting it from some of the damage being thrown around there yet allow access to the portal. Contact RhyDin city official and let them know what we're doing. And get in contact with Kegan and his crossbowman! See if he'll go into RhyDin with my men. And make it fast! We needed to be there twenty mintues ago!"

Grabbing a few items, Alex moved to the transporter room and beamed up to the star destroyer ship. The giant gate in space was big enough to allow a star destroyer through. It's counter gate was set in a high orbit above RhyDin.

Five minutes later, while the Armegeddon engaged another star destroyer above RhyDin, Exodian troops entered through the gate on the ground, reaching out to the citizens to help them while launching their own counter attack. Extra troops were sent through, totaling a thousand geared to spread out through the city nearby. This included Arcanum Academy down the street...

Wounded within reasonable distance from the gate were taken back into Exodii while citizens were encourage to follow along to escape the destruction.

"Kegan!!" the gruff female dwarven voice rang in the crossbowman's ears.

Kegan half snorted, half choked as rolled over swiftly while trying to sit up but because of his disorientation from the sudden wake out of deep sleep, he fell out of bed that much quicker.

"Gah! Woman! I swear yer tryin' t give me a heart attack! What's with ye now?!" he spewed as he got up from the floor brushing the dirt off of himself. His gaze met with with wide eyed flair of hers.

"Yer being summoned! Hop to it, now! Alex needs yer help, Love. So no bones about it. Yer goin." she flat out told him.

"Wha'?"

"Ye heard me, Keg. So wake up!"

He knew that look in her eyes and just grumbled quietly while reaching for his pants. There was no arguing with that woman, and that's just how he loved her so.

Within five minutes he was dressed, assembled with his men and not looking forward to the next thirty seconds of his life. Although he remembered Cadence's advice. Swallow.... all the way through the transport.

"Swallow it down, boys! Transport us now!"

He would have to remember to thank her for the tip as not one of them lost their dignity when they got to the other side.

With only a hundred of his men, they moved through the jumpgate into RhyDin.

People were coming through the portal. Many were wounded, some were carrying thier dead through not willing to leave them behind in the mayhem, or because they died along the way and the ones carrying them didn't realize it. Young and old alike were helped through the portal and into safety of Exodii City.

The local Hospital began to take the wounded in and the coronors took care of the dead, labeling them carefully and putting bodies in cool storage to wait for a time to send them back to RhyDin.

More troops filtered into RhyDin as yet another order for them came through. All hell was breaking loose in the city through the portal. RhyDin had never seen such a thing before. Not even Exodii had seen such a fate, even in thier last battles against Sha'uri and her Citadel of Doom.

"Sir, What's going on? What of our trades in RhyDin? Do we not have a right to enter and defend them as well?" One of the vendors asked one of the guards at the Gate.

"I'm sorry... I can't let you pass. No one besides Military and other Emergency crew will be allowed into RhyDin. It's a war there now. We're trying to save what we can of its people. Anything else can be replaced."

"Yes sir. I understand. I know our places are warded heavily when closed; only a handful of us can enter unharmed. However, you should realize I need to get some of the more rare items out of my shop. Some of those are irreplaceable. You know, intelligent swords and all. If the enemy gets a hold of some of those magical items....."

"Point taken. Let me clear it first."

The vendor nodded and gathered up his men. Since the shops were practically within arms reach and in the shelter of the shield around the jumpgate, the men were allowed to enter. Each were armed and a few carts were readied for them to load items up on. Ten civilian men entered and moved into RhyDin..........

The wave of chaos had blown through RhyDin with the attack, filtering its way into Exodii City. Kegan and his men fought to help the Exodian Forces and RhyDin Forces guiding RhyDinians to escape, either into the woods north of RhyDin or else in through the portal into Exodii. They helped fortify the jumpgate in the city and made a solid stand around the structure. None of the Exodians were giving it up without a fight to the death.

Exodian Forces and Kegan's men assumed contact with Brian Ravenlock and helped in their supplies and safety. Captain Hekstar urged Kegan to act as liaison between the Exodians and the RhyDinians in hiding.

"Why for us?" one of Kegan's men spoke up as they prepared to transfer a few of the men into Brian's camp.

"We're dwarves.... nobody pays attention to us!" said one of the others.

"Hey! We kin sneaks right past 'em and they's won't know a thing." another added what he thought was a logical conclusion.

Kegan nodded. "Not to mention navigate tunnels and passages or create them as needed. We're suppose 't begin in one of the Exodian buildings, use it fer cover an move out from there to where this Brian Ravenlock has got a hidden encampment. It'll only be a handful of us dwarves and a handful of Exodian Forces."

With that, the crew of twenty, ten dwarves and ten Exodian Forces members, moved to begin the preparations and work that would bring them to the other encampment. Digging would take several days, maybe a few weeks, but they would eventually come through.... the dwarves always did.

Days passed.... the fighting continued though slowed to almost a crawl. It eventually became a stalemate in some places over the next several weeks. Many of Rhydin's communications were knocked out, people were separated and scattered to the four corners, or outright killed. Those who stayed were clearly, or at least gave the impression, that they were on Travanix' side.

Kegan and his men along with the Exodians continued their vigilance within and beneath the city finding ways out for the people who were looking to escape. Some took refuge in through the portal escaping the chaos. What could be salvaged was salvaged from Exodian Enterprises was brought to the other world and back to the safety of Exodii. Others stayed in RhyDin side and with help found or created their own place to take refuge outside of the city there, joining with whatever camps they could find to give them time to heal, regroup and continue on from there.

The next few months were the coldest in winter anyone could remember.. cold in temperature and temperament. Something brewed beneath the surfaces....
