Topic: A Visit

Lerida

Before sundown she could be seen fledding into the late orange shadows of the dying day, a smile on her lips as coat tails flipped behind her, a stormy gray overcoat, belted at the waist, concealing leather boots, smart jeans and a scarlet red off the shoulder shirt. She felt vivacious and oddly excited about seeing her friend. There was nothing odd about this at all, other than she was doing what she wanted to, whether Mish'Cael approved or not. She'd promised to visit Dameon and Jonas, and visit she would!

After a brisk walk, she found the door embellished with the firebird emblem, that Dameon had told her to keep a look out for to find her way, and she made her ways towards it, combing her hair with fingers ,shirt adjusted, coat collar primped and then she rapt her knuckles against the door in a melody, biting down on her lip.

"Coming!"

The voice could be heard from within the Manor, and by it's pitch it was easily Ness'. Footsteps down the stairs could be heard throughout the Manor as he made his way from his room, down through the second floor hallway and darting past Kira's room, then hopping up into the banister and somewhat grinding his way down to the first floor landing where he landed gracefully, thankfully not dressed to retire for the night.

Marching along behind Ness was Dameon, his armor removed for the evening and leaving him clad in a pair of black canvas pants and a short-sleeved red tunic. Running his fingers through his hair, he didn't quite feel like running to keep up with Ness.

"Oh bloody 'ell," he called after his squire, "it's just someone at the door. Don't be so uppity."

Dameon made his way down the bottom flight of stairs, approaching and door and looking down at Ness.

"Well," Ness said, looking up at him, "with the problems we've had lately... you know, Jupiter's Demon and those demons at the Inn. We can't just be all 'whatever' when someone comes knocking that doesn't already feel welcome enough to just come in."

"You worry too much." And with that, Dameon grabbed ahold of the door handle, pulling it open and seeing Lerida standing out on the front porch. "Oh, Leri." Said with a forced grin. "What a... pleasant surprise. What brings you to our 'umble abode?"

"You always did say I could come" she grinned, as she stepped right on in and brushed past his shoulder with a smirk. Her eyes slid to the greater room, as she came to a stand still with a hand on her hip.

"How are things, then?"

she smiled and turned to look into his eyes, a fond look crossing her features.

Dameon shrugged a bit, leaning against the door jam and looking Lerida over curiously.

"Not much is new," he said. "Jonas was killed but apparently is 'aunting the Church now. Ness came back. I'm courting a lovely girl named Reanna. And I got my favorite sword out of storage."

He smiled, arching a brow at her.

"And yourself?" He inquired evenly. "How is that bloke what got 'is knickers in a twist over our conversing in the tavern?"

She rolled a shoulder back and rubbed her lips together, her eyes falling to the ground as she smirked.

"We're no longer ....anything, actually", she said dryly, her eyes fixed on his.

"Him and I were only fun. But he's that type of guy, gets his knickers so far up his ass over the strangest things....", her eyes lifted as she thought on it for a moment, and then she gestured with her hand to the greater space around them.

"Glad to hear things we going so well", she smiled, if with a white lie between her teeth. "It's a great shack you got", she grinned, turning away to run her eyes about the decor.

With her back to him she furrowed her brow and looked down, thoughtful, biting her tongue.

"I actually came past to see what you were doing tonight, Dameon", she tore her eyes from the floor to meet his gaze, brushing an errant, pale curl from her cheek and behind an ear. Delicate hands clasped before her as she walked over.

"I really, really liked you"

She took a breath, smiled resignedly and turned her face to the door.

"Too late huh. Suppose I do spend lotsa time in 'Chado"

The grungey flower shrugged then herself.

"As long as you're happy, I am" she looked up. It was the most cliche line she'd ever doled out, but she meant it.

"I guess I should go, hey", she moved for the door, eyes lowered, her hands shaking.

Dameon pursed his lips a bit at her words, knowing full well that she was disdainful in her acceptance of his new relationship. He simply listened until she made for the door, where he was still leaned up against. He slid his feet toward the other side of the door, now leaning diagonally to block the doorway save for anyone capable of moving him.

"Well," he said, shrugging, "I don't see why you feel the need to flee. We are friends first, are we not? I doubt if anything should really dictate that we can't still be. So long as you are alright with the fact that I can't be unfaithful to Reanna."

He stood then, placing his hands on his hips, assuming his usual cocky smirk.

"Besides," he continued, "we've got a lot to catch up on."

She heard voices...or she'd thought she'd heard voices and turned on her side to snuggle closer to Dameon, her fingers only caressing the coolness of the silk sheets...

Silk sheets...there was no Dameon there...Where could he have gone?

Pushing up to a sitting position, she blinked several times, canting her head to the side. Yes, yes those were indeed voices she'd heard. A male voice...and..was that a female voice?

Rubbing the remnants of sleep from her eyes, she slid from the silk sheets, grabbing the silk robe that was at the foot of the bed and securing it about her body she made her way silently down the hall and down the stairs.

She'd stop at the top of the last stairwell, her head canted to the side. Ebony locks fell about her shoulders, but there was a new fire that burned in her eyes, the sight before her took her breath away and made her skin crawl.

Who was that woman? Why...did Dameon have that look in his eyes? What in the hell was going on here? She cleared her throat and, as fire burned in her deep green eyes she sent daggers towards Dameon and his...choice of company at this late hour. "I hope I'm not interruptin' anything." Her stance was as defensive as it could get as she watched the two below her.

Having just stood idly by as Dameon greeted Lerida, Ness looked over to see Reanna, and grinned nervously, marching over toward her carefully, looking at her with a bright smile.

"Hey there Rea," he said. "So, erm, our running about the Manor woke you up?"

He folded his arms over his chest, visably nervous and glancing over his shoulder at Dameon and Lerida, figuring he'd best wait and let him introduce her to Rea.

She didn't even look at Ness, having zoned him out of her vision totally when she'd looked towards the voices.

Her head was still canted to the side as he approached her, but her eyes were locked on Dameon and the woman with him. Her voice was strained, and she spoked through gritted teeth to Ness, every word was laced with an icy cold and quipped. She wasn't mad at him. "Nah. I rolled over in bed after thinking I'd heard voices to find emptiness where a body should have been. So I decided to pursue the voices and I came out to find...this." A stiff motion of one hand, indicating the two below.

A long day had brought her back home to the manor at her less then usual time. She had gently pulled the door open seeing the rather large red figure standing there.Little hands tugged on Dameon's cape since he was in the way of the door, giving a small giggle not knowing if he knew he blocked her entrance. She then pushed her hands to his armor trying to give him a forceful push, but it was pretty much like a butterfly landing on his back. It didn't do much.

The young blonde haired, pigtailed girl peeked her head from the space she could see inside the manor from the rather large (Compared to her) figure and only wondered why everyone was congrigated in that one spot. Cautious eyes glanced around before her gaze landed on the knew woman in the house. Unlike Rea, she did not get in a defensive position, but a much more hidable position. Her hands grasped dameons cape once more as she pulled herself under it, and now she had benifits! Not only was she hiding, she was warm being so close to him..after all she didn't want to rip it off his back!

Feeling Kira tugging on his cloak, Dameon turned around and promptly knelt down in front of her.

"Well 'ello!" He smiled, taking ahold of her and turning about to face everyone, setting her down to stand in front of him, crossing his arms around her over her shoulders and leaving enough slack on his cloak for her to grab onto.

"Alright," he said, motioning with his head toward Lerida. "This is Lerida. She is a good friend of Jonas and myself, and she 'as simply dropped by for a visit and to catch up."

He then looks to Lerida.

"Leri," he continued, "the lovely lady on the stairs is my girlfriend Reanna Falassion. Pardon 'er demeanor, I kind of snuck out of our bedroom when I came down 'ere so I wouldn't wake 'er. And this cute little darling with me 'ere is Jonas and my younger adopted sister Kira. And Ness I believe you've met in the Inn with me once or twice."

The whole time she'd kept her eyes on the front door, not meeting Dameon's eyes while the family came out of the woodwork.

"Look, Damo, not one here for Family affairs..."

She lifted her eyes to his, and then turned to offer a brief but polite smile to each person surrounding them, in turn.

"I'm outta, sweetcakes"

And out she went, door closing shut before her, leaving a cool breeze in her wake. She headed quickly down the path and onto the street, feeling quite the fool, for even trying her luck. But, alas, things changed, people moved on, and maybe, she figured, the nice guys just weren't for her to have.

Being turned to face everyone, She did indeed take her hand and grab onto what she could hold of Dameon's cape, running her thumb and finger across the cloth just feeling how nice it felt against her flesh. Looking up to see everyone awake already, she felt a bit confused. Smiling, having that sense of security her brother gave her, she took her free hand and waved a few shy fingers to Lerida.

"H-Hello." Her eyes glancing over the new woman noting how beautiful she was. She said nothing more as she remained infront of Dameon looking cautiously to everyone else then watching Lerida leave with a frown.

"Did we scare her away?"

She'd stood there on the landing with Ness near her. Dark green eyes moved from each face below her as she saw the door creep open and little Kira appear.

She'd not want the woman she'd come to think of as her little sister, friend and ward to witness a fight if one started.

Hands now moved to her hips as she studied the scene before her. Listened to conversation.

A visit and to catch up...

What with the past few days events and everything being in turmoil and chaos, just now seemingly to calm the slightest...Everything in her wanted to scream.

She'd heard snippets of the conversation as she'd approached them...and a simple visit for catching up it hardly sounded like to her. Not to mention the protective stance he'd taken against the door to block her path.

She watched Dameon turn Kira about and something tugged inside her as she missed her brother so. A very soft sniffle as the thought and memory passed before she heard the woman speak and make her way out the door.

If she'd even chosen to speak, she'd have no idea what she could have said. He'd explained she'd been here for a mere visit, but what Rea had heard and seen had a part of her thinking otherwise.

"It's late Kira hun. You should get some rest."

Without a word to anyone else, she turned on her heel and marched up the stairs. Nothing else was heard for several minutes, then the a harsh slam of the bedroom door sliced through the silence of the Manor.

Dameon kept shold of Kira as Leri left, following her with his eyes until the door was shut. He tightened his arms around Kira to hug her, and leaned down to kiss her top the head as Rea finally spoke. He glanced up to her, arching a brow and watching her take up the stairs.

Holding onto Kira still, he winced a bit as the bedroom door upstairs slammed and sent the echo through the manor.

"Ness," he said with pursed lips, "you can validate what I said was true, right? I mean, it was a completely legitimate meeting on my end, wasn't it?"

Ness looked up at Dameon and shrugged, glancing up the stairs with a nervous smirk.

"Doesn't matter what happened, Dames." Ness tilted his head back to Dameon. "What matters is how it looked to Rea. I mean, you sneak away from the bed with the good intentions not to wake her, and then meet down here with Lerida and explain that you only intend to be friends..."

"But then," he continued, "all Rea knows is that you snuck out of your room to answer the call of an, I'm sorry, awesomely hot chick. I know you had no bad vibes going on, but then you gotta check out Rea's PoV, know'm'sayin'?"

"I know," Dameon said, looking down to Kira. "Reanna's right, love. You should get some rest."

Hearing the door slam upstairs she winced holding onto Dameon's cape tightly almost hiding her face. She felt her heart beat quickly as she worried about Rea now but felt it wasn't her place to get herself involved in. Watching the two talk amongst eachother she finally turned giving her brother a hug agreeing to finally get some rest. Making her way over to Ness, she waved her fingers twords him wishing him a goodnight.

Feet carrying her quickly up the stairs into her room, she closed the door softly turning the lock on it. She was odd like that and always kept her room locked fearing someene who she might not want come in. Rushing to her window she opened the curtain to see if Lerida was anywhere to be found on the property. Sitting on the edge of her bed, she took her shoes off, peering out the window once more before proceeding to get ready for bed, and fall asleep.
