It had been an eventful weekend for Izira. After going to the opera of The Marriage of Figaro Thursday night, she had remained at the inn for almost the full day on Friday. However, Friday night had found her, on a whim, at the Red Dragon Inn?determined to get out there a perhaps meet other people who were not the blue-eyed detective that was so often on her mind these days. Upon entering the inn she spotted Paladin, the some-times-tender, standing on the patron side of the bar and moved to join him. After being served warmed brandy in a glass rather than something better suited for a warmed drink by the man behind the bar, Izira and Paladin moved to a table to catch up. It seemed the wanderer was the cause behind the ?big boom? in the sewers that she had been hearing rumors about, though Paladin would not confirm nor deny anything.

At some point, Alain and Cassie arrived on the scene a small dog that was not Jean in tow. Smiling and laughing with one another, Izira smiled and waved and then did her best to keep her attention on Paladin and refrained from approaching the couple. For the most part it worked however occasionally her eyes wandered back towards the duo at the bar as well as those others who entered and moved within the bar. When Izira heard Alain and Cassie saying their good-byes she was torn between disappointment and relief, though it was more towards the side of relief as she knew it was a foolish thing to allow her heart to become further entangled with such emotions for the detective. She said her own good-byes, but could not bring herself to watch them leave together.

Then she lost Paladin?s companionship as others drew his attention when he returned to the bar for a refill on their drinks. She decided to move to the bar herself when her thirst decided it was tired of waiting for the wanderer to return. There a woman behind the bar fetched Izira a bottle of water and after an introduction from Paladin?who had the decency to be remorseful for ditching her?Izira learned that the woman?s name was Eva.

Once Paladin left, fleeing from the supposed Singles? Night that the Red Dragon was hosting, Izira?s night might have gone differently had it not been for Eva. Rather than retiring as well once Paladin left, she hung around the inn longer sharing a bottle of bourbon and conversation with Eva. It wasn?t the lightest mood to settle in, but it did make her think as she watched the tall older man that apparently pulled at Eva?s heart and spoke to Eva about what was or might have been between them. Was nothing about love ever smooth? Still, it took Izira?s mind somewhat from thoughts of Alain and recalled to her mind Jared?who had been built much the same as Eva?s man but for being bearded. Even after all these years she mourned their parting.

There had been others that joined the two ladies that night, both friends of Eva. Ghost, a man of few words, sat and listened. Most of his contributions to the conversation came in the form of a nod or a shrug. Then there was Rena, a woman who while in a budding relationship still remembered those that had burned her before. It seemed the night was determined to be somber. Occasionally she would glance back at the bar and the man Eva obviously had feelings for, noting the girl he spoke with but not paying her much mind after that. Izira spoke of her life vaguely without many details or names, preferring to offer comments and input than speak about herself too much. Her higher tolerance for liquor also aided in keeping her wits about her, which was good when it came time to walk Eva, well into her cups, home. Though Eva could have probably made it on her own, Izira was not the type of person to ditch a friend when it wasn?t required.

Izira remained pensive after leaving Eva and heading home, then throughout Saturday as she worked about the inn. Alain was a kind enough, but he only offered her friendship and Izira should not soil that gift with her desire for the man. There had been many simple things Izira had brought to ruin for behaving in such a way and she became determined to not do it again. Alain was just a friend and nothing more, now and ever into the future.
Sunday morning Izira woke with a strong need to get out and way from the inn and those who stayed there while working to build Alain?s village. Breakfast was put together and served. Then she left the realm deciding to seek out Eva at her home and see if the woman would want to join her at the inn. Eva was agreeable to the idea and spent the walk to the inn apologizing to Izira for Friday night. Izira accepted the apologies with a bemused smile, telling Eva that she truly had nothing to apologize for?she had enjoyed the night out entirely.

Entering the inn, Alain was spotted just before he vanished before her eyes. Izira almost half wondered if she?d seen things, but decided she wasn?t when Eva asked after the village that was being built. The two speaking as they approached the bar and took seats, Eva got a cup of coffee then was suddenly bombarded by the girl who had been at the bar talking to Tucker on Friday night. It wasn?t that Izira didn?t enjoy bubbly people, but the girl was noticeably putting Eva on edge. Izira did her best to act as a buffer between the chatty girl and Eva, distracting her first from conversation by asking her to get a drink, then turning talk towards the chocolate dipped strawberry ?roses? and later pointing out that the ?edginess? she was seeing in Eva might have something more to do with her as Eva had been fine on the way over.

Izira only became more guarded when the girl, Dru, brought up Tucker. It came to surface that Eva thought the girl had interest in the man, only to be mistaken. Izira watched Eva go silent a while before gathering herself together again and making another go at talking with Dru, apologizing yet again for her behavior. Watching and listening, Izira was distracted from the two when one of her ravens managed to find his way into the inn with a letter from the inn. Frick. She read over the message, gathering from it that Alain intended to bring fifty elves in to help work on the village and she had very little time to prepare for the additional mouths to feed. Truly she didn?t want to leave Eva, especially not alone with Dru, but it could not be helped. Quickly she bid the ladies farewell, giving Eva a squeeze and promising to send her a map to the inn as soon as she was able. Indeed, Izira was eager with the idea of company at the inn that was there solely for her.

She returned to the Forgotten Layer?s Inn, gathering the girls that lingered at the inn during the day and putting them to work. Fifty elves? No problem! Izira had to smirk, wondering what Alain?s face would look like when he found her already prepared for his little surprise the next day. As soon as she had the time, Izira sat down to write out the map for Eva?sealing it into a silver envelope and including a note of apology for leaving her abruptly and hopes that the ?company? she had left Eva with hadn?t annoyed her further.

Night came and Izira happily turned in, Monday would be busy but she would survive. With luck, later in the week she would be able to return to RhyDin for a visit or, better yet, someone might visit her. Drifting off to sleep, her thoughts were for once far from men.
