It was time for serious research. She had two recalcitrant patients that she had to ask her mate's help in getting into the infirmary. She knew she had to gain their trust, she she felt terrible in having to go the lengths she was. Yet, part of her was concerned because it was obvious they needed the medical attention and the Doc bot was ineffectual at best.
She had to enlist the aid of the mates of both patients in effectively bullying them into appearing. It had to be done, she rationalized, but it still wore on her nature. She was in no way a bully. She cared about the Kirn that was placed in her care. The length she had to go wore on her.
Yet she knew her mate and theirs agreed with her course and gladly aided her. There was no choice. Her patients gave her none.
As she waited, she was doing some research. She was chosen for this assignment because of her Xenobiological studies and papers. And it was those research skills she put to work now. She needed to focus on two areas...
One was Ular gestation and reconciling that to the interbreeding between the two species. Xea and Bru'l were Kirn-Ular mixes so she needed to see how much of an influence the genetics would play in her pregnancy. Still she needed to do a complete physical before she could make any hypothesis.
The other was alternative surgical techniques in regards to the delicate situation Harper was in. There was the thought of seeing how much she could accomplish with her own psioincs and yet there was a nasty risk for both doctor and patient. This type of healing was rare and the risk of the doctor becoming trapped or worse was great. Then there was the risk of further damage to the patient.
She knew both Ja'Rin and A'Rus would not allow it to happen. This was assuming that Harper let her get close in the first place. She massaged her temples as she contemplated the matter. Wasn't there a safer alternative to Neuro-surgery? She didn't want to open up Harper any more than the young one wanted to be operated on.
What she wouldn't give for an assistant at the moment.
