Well, leave it to the fantastic Sinjin Fai to be at the helm of an event where each and every match-up has some fantastic back story! Along with our fabulous partners at Hendrick Swords, we put together this short guide to the match-ups to give you some insight into the histories that each of the duelists have with each other!
G'nort Esplanade G'neesmacher Dragoon Talanador vs. Maria Graziano-Bojangles in Duel of Swords
This one isn't as obvious as some of the others because on the surface these days G'nort and Maria seem to get along fairly well. However, it wasn't that long ago that they couldn't stand being in the same room together much less the same ring!
Little known fact -- G'nort and Maria actually went on ONE date years and years ago. They've argued ever since about who didn't ask who for a second date but that's hardly the begin and end of their bad blood. You see, G'nort's current wife, Kaja, used to be Crew. About five or six years ago, Kaja was engaged to the Crew's Ticallion Carter (who has a challenge against the Overlord tomorrow night). It's unclear whether Kaja cheated on Tical by sleeping with G'nort or just left Tical for G'nort but the break-up was not at all pretty. Kaja was kicked out of the Crew by the captain at the time -- Maria. Well, G'nort didn't appreciate how his wife was being treated and fired back. All in all, it led to a physical confrontation between G'nort and Maria outside a ring one night about five years ago.
Chances are that they will be pleasant enough to one another but if either shows up in a bad mood look for the possibility of some serious fireworks.
Neo Eternity vs Sivanna Cyredghymn in Duel of Magic
You need only take a look at our blog once every other week or two to find out what's so interesting about this one!
Neo just so happens to be the Keeper of Water which gives him access to great power over water while Sivanna is his magical opposite as Keeper of Fire. No surprise that the pretty little spit fire is the Keeper of Fire, is it? The entertainment factor of this duel doesn't stop there! Rumor has it that Neo had a serious crush on Sivanna when he first met her. Unfortunately, for him, she met and married Alec. Now his friends would have us all believe that he has gotten over the crush and is now dating Kelathe but there's no denying that there is a connection between Sivanna and Neo. Sources close to them are adamant that the pair are merely best friends but rumors that there is something more than friendship between them have never stopped since they first crossed paths.
This match up will probably be the most friendly and good humored of the three. While a serious amount of pride is at stake in the other two, Sivanna and Neo seem to wish each other well in every and any situation they are in.
Matt Simon vs. Koy Simon in Duel of Fists
Yeah, you read that right. Neo and Sivanna's match will absolutely, positively have less possibility of developing into a brutal battle than the match between the Governor and his wife. In fact, this may even have a better chance of getting ugly than will the Duel of Swords' match-up!
While the two-time Governor, Matt Simon, and his fashion designer wife, Koy Simon, may seem to have their act together now, their relationship has been far from smooth sailing. Their first obstacle was Matt's ex-wife who has never been too terribly thrilled about the break-up of their marriage. However, most notably, was Matt's long absence from RhyDin when he was listed as 'missing in action' and there were even rumors that he had been killed in some off-world war. Rumor has it that Koy was a mess during this time period (before the pair was married) in which she relied heavily on her friends for support. Matt's return signaled the end of Koy fighting the progression of their relationship and they were married shortly after. Now two years later, they both have thriving careers and a beautiful little girl.
Still, however, their life is far from perfect. Matt's second term as governor seems to be taking a strain on him and it's a rare night when Koy isn't seen with a drink in her hand. Each have claimed that the other is obsessed with the Outback's Opals and it's clear that both seem to constantly have to prove something to the other.
No matter who wins, somebody's pride is going to take a hit. What makes for a difficult night in the Simon home, though, makes for a fabulous night of drama and fisticuffs!
