Topic: An Overdue Visit

Eddie

Although she still kept guard over the outer perimeter of their compound, Eddie hadn't visited the Pi house in a couple three weeks. One evening, when all seemed quiet over RhyDin, she decided to stop by and see how little George was doing. He was so small to be roaming the streets alone, and she was so glad Jaden and the other boys opened their home to him. That passing thought of the Frat President made her smile, and brought a little blush to her cheeks not related to the crisp breeze that was blowing.

As she approached the guard house, she checked her weapons - dual blades set in a cross draw, pair of chakram just behind her right hip, and various daggers concealed in different places. Her strawberry hair was swept up in a high ponytail bound with a black scrunchie, matching the black hoodie and black jeans she wore. Black leather slippers protected her feet from the bitter cold. Her crimson sash was the only color that could be seen, except when the garnet at her throat caught the dim light. She stopped outside the gate, calling out so whoever was on shift would hear her.

"Hey there - I just stopped to see how George was doing, and to maybe get an update on who's new - I've seen a lot of new guys floating around lately."

She didn't say what she was secretly hoping - she hoped Jaden wasn't too busy this evening.

He steps out of the guard shack when she approached. He looks down at her and smiles crookedly. "Actually, George has a twin, Jake. And they've seemed to settle in alright. We hired a nanny and they're living in one of the guest houses." He nods and takes a lean up against the wall of the shack. "We have a few new bros, but I don't know them that well yet. And a couple of the alumni have come back to go with us on Spring Break."

He looks up at the night sky, then back down at her with a grin. "Come on in out of the cold." He pushes the door to the heated guard shack open. "How've you been? Last time I saw you I had to run off." he chuckles, remembering George's "accident."

She stepped into the warmth, giving Matt a smile. "Really? How'd you guys find him - I'm glad you all took them in. Kids that age - they shouldn't be on the streets."

"So there are new brothers? Any younger one that might sneak out?" She grinned as she remembered their chat about the fence.

When he asked how she was, she shrugged a little. "I've been OK - we've all been extra busy what with everything going on and all. " She tried not to laugh as she remembered how scared poor George had been. "Nice to see you've recovered from his little accident - I've never seen anyone move that fast!"

She thought to ask about Jaden then - but shyness kept her from doing it. To her, Matt was like one of her Sisters. Jaden - that was something else entirely.

He lets the door to the shack close once she's inside, to maintain the heat inside. "George led us to him. He was hiding down at the docks. And you're right, they shouldn't be on the streets."

He walks over and sits on his comfy stool, offering her a folding metal chair. "No, not any youngins, except the twins. And their nanny does a pretty good job of keeping them reigned in. You won't see them after dark usually."

He listens to her talk for a bit. "Yeah, well being peed on wasn't the highlight of my night, trust me." he laughs and picks up his clipboard, starting to write the nightly log.

He felt comfortable enough to sit in silence, hell he was used to it.

Eddie

She sat in the offered seat, adjusting the blades at her back so they didn't poke her.

"She sounds like she really cares for them - does she teach them too? It's great they've adjusted well - they're probably asleep now though. I'll have to stop during the day to say hi."

After a little while of silence, Eddie finally got the nerve to ask..

"Jaden's not asleep, is he?"

Matthew Gordon

"Yeah, she's taking good care of the boys. I'm sure they're out like a light now, she's pretty strict about bed times." he nods, continuing with his paperwork.

He looks over at her with a crooked grin. "You got a thing for him, don't you?" he teases. "I'll call and find out." He picks up the phone and dials the number.

Eddie

Matt's teasing brought that color all back in her cheeks, and she tried to cover as he dialed up the phone.

"Well - since I'm here, I thought maybe we could go over some stuff - you know, make sure nothing bad ever happens here."

That blush, and the fact she was now intently studying the chakram on her hip, would tell Matt he had it right in the first place..

Matthew Gordon

He watches her while he holds the phone and shakes his head with a chuckle. "Yeah, boss, you've a visitor at the gate." a nod of his head. "Alright." and then he hangs up.

"Don't worry, your secret is safe with me." with a laugh. "He's on his way."

Eddie

She opened her mouth to protest, but thought better of it. Matt was well-trained, able to pick up subtleties in how people acted - it's what made him darn good at what he did for the Frat.

So, she nodded to Matt, and gave him a little smile. "Thanks - I appreciate that."

She then settled in her chair to wait for Jaden, letting the silence settle around her.

Sitting at the large oak desk, he sighs and goes through yet more lists of things that must be done, have been done, and will be done. A tight purse of his lips and then the phone rings. He slides his hand across the desk and picks it up. And Presses it to his ear.

"Hello?" He listens to Matt. "Be right there." And hangs up the phone. He stacks the rest of his papers to the left of the desk as he stands up and grabs his jacket from the back of the chair, then wraps it around himself.

He nods to a few of the brothers that he passes by as he goes on through the hallway, rounds the corner and out the front door. His hands go directly into his jacket pockets as he walks on down the long path towards the gate. The familiar crunching of the gravel under his shoes.

The cool breeze causing his breath to be seen as he continues on his way. Once he is halfway there he can see the light of the guard shack and goes on up to the large gate that separates the fraternity from the outside world so to speak. Pressing the combination, the gate slowly opens with a creak, note to self.. fix that, and he steps on outside of it and down to the shack. He looks through the large glass window and smiles.
"Eddie, Matt."

Eddie

Seeing Jaden in the window brought a smile to Eddie's face - more like a goofy grin actually. It had been a while since she had seen him - and were those butterflies in her stomach? She got up from her seat to greet him.

"Hey Jaden - long time no see. I thought maybe, if you had a minute, you could let me know who's new - so I can keep an eye out, like I've been doing? I can walk back with you if that's OK..."

Matthew Gordon

He had watched her from the corner of his eye and stifles a chuckle at that grin. With a shake of his head he greets Jay. "Hey boss."

He gives her a sidelong glance and shakes his head with a crooked grin, then it's back to paperwork.

A nod given to Matt and a smile over at Eddie, he walks over to the door and pulls it open so she can step out. He walks back to the gate and opens it back up again. And again reminds himself.. squeaky gate, get it fixed.

He looks over at her. "Alright, well first off we have the little ones but they are well looked after, however an extra eye is always appreciated." He steps inside the gate and waits for her to walk with him. His hands going back into his jacket again.
"Matt could you please make sure to have a look out for Dirk and Cole, they should be back soon. I need to speak with Dirk about his trip. Just ring me, when you see them?"

Then he is speaking back to Eddie.
"As for the others, well, some of the alumni have come back for vacation. We do have Wesley, but he is old enough to keep himself out of trouble. I hope." He chuckles. "And we should be having a few more new potentials coming for interviews."

Eddie

Eddie walked out of the guard house as Jaden held the door for her, with a grin and a wave to Matt. "Thanks - see you later!"

After Jaden opened the gate, she fell into step beside him, her feet barely disturbing the gravel as they headed back towards the House.

"I'm so glad they're safe - I've seen a bunch of little kids while out on patrol - one looked no older than four. It was a real nice thing you did - taking them both into your home, making sure they're cared for."

They continued on a little way, and she kept sneaking shy little glances at him - it was the first time they'd been by themselves, and she liked what she saw, inside and out.

"What's Wesley look like - that way I'll know him if I see him. So far I haven't caught Doug or Chris out, but when it gets warmer - I'm sure they'll be making a break! And - what's a vacation? Must be something good if older brothers are coming back for it. Oh - and what's it take to be a brother anyway - I'm curious now."

Jaden Linares

Date: 2007-03-14 17:22 EST
He smiles at her as they walk, listening to everything she says, but then brown eyes watch where he is going. That is probably a smart thing to do, watch where you are going. His eyes find there way back to her every once and a while as they walk up the long walkway.

"I could not let the boys live out on the street or send them away when they clearly could be taken care of here, I would not of wanted them to be more traumatized. Besides, having them around the house has made it a lot more fun. I forgot how great it is being a kid." He nods and grins.

"Wesley, I'll point him out to you once we get to the house. Last I saw he was around the pool." The gravel under his shoes crunching with each step, though no real awkward silence is found as he walks with her. He glances back to over to her yet again and smiles.
"Chris and Doug have been too busy playing games and with school, but I agree with summer coming, they will have a lot of time on their hands. I'm sure they will make a break for it." He laughs.

Brown eyes look up to the house, all the lights seeming to be on, brothers moving about the commons. "A vacation away from the house really, maybe go somewhere already warmer, or to have a bit of light hearted fun. Sometimes the drama of Rhy'din wears you thin, so we take breaks through out the year. And as far as what it takes to be a brother..."

He stops for a moment and turns to her, his hands coming out of his pockets, sometimes he tends to talk with his hands. "You need good references, usually we do a few interviews. Course I think Julian and Dirk got in under the radar." He grins even more, in a jesting manner that comes from his lips of course. "But we look for someone that is wanting to make a difference, course if you talk to Dirk or Gage they will say you just have to like to party." He chuckles again, the wide variety of characters in the house.. really do make it worth living there.

"Does that help?" A small smile on his lips.

Eddie

She also kept an eye on where they were headed, having only traveled up the gravel path twice before. The only sound when they paused in their conversation was Jaden's feet upon the path - Eddie hardly making the gravel move, let alone crunch - years of training to move silently kicking in automatically. She thought a moment about her own childhood, such as it was, and she looked over at him with a smile.

"That's just awesome - street kids have to grow up before their time, so it's so good that George and his brother get to actually be - you know, kids - I bet all the brothers like having them around!"

"I figured Chris and Doug were busy with school - but games? You mean like competitions and stuff?" Games on the Isle were just that - competitions, usually tied to weapons training. Playing just for fun was not a concept she understood.

Her eyes, a couple shades lighter than his, looked to the house as he did, seeing the shadows milling about, then back to Jaden. "I swear - there's always someone up no matter what time it is - is "night owl' one of the requirements too?" She laughed, then a serious look crossed her face as he described what a vacation was, her hand shifting to adjust the chakram on her hip. "Time away from all the drama.. all the bull - I think we all need one of those. You guys won't be gone too long, right?"

She stopped when he did, and she could see the genuine affection and love Jaden had for all of his brothers as he talked - Julian and Dirk as well. Eddie understood right then why he was President - he took the position seriously, and seemed to want to help better the lives of everyone the Frat touched. She grinned back at him as they stood on the path, turning to face him. "That helps a lot. Dirk's not so bad, really - and Julian - well, every family needs a fruit-loop!" She laughed as she thought of Trixie and her tendency to start food fights at the table. "And as for making a difference - I know you've made a difference to me - a big one."

She figured he'd think she meant the whole Frat, but she really meant him, by himself. She ran her hand through her bangs to settle them away from her face, her light browns eyes looking up at him.

He nods. "The brothers love having them around. They spoil them rotten sometimes, but I think it will all work out." He grins and puts his hands back into his pockets, should he need to talk with them again.. well there they are.

"Competitions? Weapons? No, I would not trust those two with weapons, but they play video games." He grins, then looks back to the house for a moment. "Is that what you do, competitions?" Dark brown eyes back on her.

"Oh yes, always someone awake and busy. "Night Owl" should be put on the application now that I think of it." He chuckles softly, his hand finding the pen in his pocket and fiddling with it. He then shakes his head to that. "No, we should be gone for a few days, most of the time these spring breaks turn into Julian getting us thrown out of a hotel or something and we come back. Though I admit Julian does in fact make it interesting."
He shakes his head again.. Julian the streaker.

"And Dirk, well without him we wouldn't have some of the excellent brothers here that we do now, I leave it to him to make the final decision on the applicants. And so far he has done a wonderful job. I can not imagine the fraternity without him." He smiles once again and pulls his hands out of his pocket to run a hand through his own dark locks.

"I am glad for it. Making a difference to someone is what it is all about. Helping, and guiding the best you can. And in Rhy'din, you need all the help and understanding you can get. This place can be difficult to live in at times but there are those few that can help, and I think eventually make it just a little easier." He takes a moment to rub his hands together, the night air just a bit chilly.

"And here I am talking away and I am sure you would like to get out of the cold, I would not want you to get ill because my lack of manners. A lady should never be made to wait." He smiles at her and moves his hand towards the house. "Shall we?"

Eddie

Date: 2007-03-17 11:28 EST
"I think so too - I can't think of a better place for two little boys to be." Eddie gave Jaden a smile, and she made a mental note to come by again during the day so she could see George and meet his brother.

She gently ran a finger over the edge of the chakram at her hip, looking up just in time to catch his eyes. "Before I came here, yeah - that's how they tracked how we were coming along with our training. Video - that's something like all those screens in the guard house?"

The only time she ever saw Julian was from a distance, when he streaked through the pool room, and she laughed along with Jaden. "He sure seems to make life interesting for you all - and I can always keep an eye out - I mean everyone goes on Break, right? And Dirk's cool - he's like your right hand man, then? He sure know how to pick them!"

The chill usually didn't bother her, but a sudden little gust of wind prdocued a slight shiver. She shoved her hands in the pocket of her hoodie to warm them. "I know what you mean - RhyDin is a tough place, and there aren't many who help. I mean my sisters and I try - that's what we do - helping those who can't help themselves. I know my life here's a little easier now..."

Jaden was the most well-mannered person she had ever met, and when he called her a lady - all that color came back into her cheeks, and she gave him a shy smile as he ushered them towards the main house, again settling her bangs away from her face. "I'd love to - lead on, Jaden." And together they started walking again.

Jaden Linares

He smiles the moment she does. "Well we do try to make it a safe environment for them, and their new nanny will make sure to keep a good eye on them when I can not, or the other brothers are out. But honestly we all enjoy watching them and taking them out to the park. I am even thinking about having some swing sets installed on the grounds. I am sure the boys will like that."

"Yes the screens in the guard shack are something like that, televisions. The younger brothers tend to play those in their rooms, course I rather think it is a waste of time and rubbish but, they do what they want at times." He chuckles softly and he begins to walk with her again up the walkway.

As they walk he talks on about what they had just been discussing.
"Well Gage is the second in command, but he has taken a bit of leave, so that would be Paul now, an alumni that has returned to take up the duty, but yes, Dirk is very much a big part of the fraternity, but then so is every single brother here. We all play our own parts." His hands had come back out of this pocket and rest as his sides as they walk. He glances over at her throughout the walk.

"You have many sisters?" He walks up the porch steps and is just about to open the door for her as he turns back to her. "I must warn you, the little boys are in the guest house asleep so we never know what may happen in the halls after that. Some of the brothers can be a bit..." He pauses for a moment.

"Rowdy." He chuckles.

Eddie

Date: 2007-03-20 10:50 EST
"Oh I bet they'll love playing outside once the warm weather decides to stick around - I know I'm getting tired of being cooped up." She smiled up at Jaden again as they headed back to the house, her feet again hardly making the gravel move. "And maybe Chris and Doug will spend less time on those - videos - once it's nicer out too - show George and his brother all sorts of games and tricks on the swings."

She nodded as he explained the command structure to her - in so many ways, they reminded her of her Sisters. "That's good - it's gotta be a lot, taking care of everyone." She kept glancing over at him as well as they neared the porch.

"There aren't too many of us - Issy's the one in charge, sort of like you - and she's backed mostly by Trixie - Lauf and Rae are older, almost like legends to me. Jenai's not living with us anymore, but she still comes by all the time - I've taken over a lot of what she used to do at the Sanctuary. Then Mirage, Reeni, and Janet - they just arrived, and Akemi just came from the Isle the other day. So that's 10, counting me."

She grinned as he went to open the door - apparently, he hadn't heard tales of her Sisters, if he was warning her of rowdiness. "As long as Julian keeps his pants on, I think I can handle it." She was laughing as she went in the door, with a look back to Jaden, all smiles in her eyes.

Jaden Linares

A smile as she speaks of her sisters. Close group it seems, just like they are here. Family really.

"I know all about being couped up, this happened to be the first walk outside I have had in at least three days. Though I can not make any promises for Julian, he goes by the beat of a whole other drum." He shakes his head as she walks through the door and he is right behind her and shutting it behind himself. Brown eyes look about, it seems.. rather quieter then usual. Then again everyone could be at the pool, or the gym.. anywhere.

He walks on through the main hallway. "Well taking care of everyone is a huge responsibility, and luckily I have other brothers to help with some of that. And having some of the alumni come back for a bit has been terrific. Perhaps I can actually get out of the house for a while sometime, instead of being in the stuffy old office." He grins and ushers her towards that said office.

Opening that door for her as well of course. He smiles down at her once more. "Would you care for anything? Drinks, or are you hungry, I can always have Cook bring in something. Unless of course you were not planning on staying for too long, I would not want to stop you from your previous engagements." Small sigh from him, for some reason everything he tends to say sounds so formal. "I mean if you are busy, I do not want to keep you."

Eddie

Date: 2007-03-24 11:58 EST
"You know - I think Julian has a whole different band - not just the drummer!" She laughed as she stepped inside, noticing the quiet as well as they both walk down the hallway.

"With Akemi here now, I might actually get some free time myself." She smiled back up at him as she walked inside his office - really liking the fact he opened doors for her. "It really is a nice room - your office this is."

She winced inwardly as she stood inside Jaden's office. She was afraid she sounded like a little kid, talking to someone like him. When he mentioned food, she realized she was a little hungry, and turned to give him a smile.

"I'm not busy at all tonight - Akemi's out with Trixie - so, if you're not busy - some of those fries Cook makes sound really good about now - and maybe a Coke?"

Jaden Linares

Date: 2007-04-01 09:12 EST
He steps aside as she moves into the office. He smiles down at her. "Why thank you, it can be a bit confining at times but I really do like to spend time here, if it was not all work I am sure that I would enjoy it even more." He chuckles softly and steps in behind her.

A nod. "A Coke and fries coming right up." He moves over to the intercom and buzzes Cook. "Two orders of fries and Cokes sent to my office, thank you." Letting the button go he turns to her and motions for the couch near his desk.

He moves over and sticks some of the stacks of paper from his desk into an awaiting box on the floor. "Too much paperwork at times." He smiles back at her. "Feel free to have a seat, I would not want you to have to stand." A request of course.

Once all the papers are off his desk he walks over and sits down on the couch beside her, been a while since he has been able to just sit and not worry about this and that. "So." Brown eyes look over at her. "I am at a loss of words really, as you can tell I am not usually one on the social scene like the other brothers like to call it." He laughs. "It is good that you are getting some free time, work all the time can be tiring." And he realizes that saying that last bit may have sounded like it came out of nowhere.

He takes in a breath, being nervous is not something he is use to. "Listen Eddie, you will have to excuse how I may be seeming right now, to myself I just sound silly, I can not imagine how I must sound or seem to you. I feel like everything I say is coming out wrong. You know?" He laughs softly and runs a hand through his hair.

Eddie

Still taking everything in, Eddie smiled and took a seat on the couch when Jaden offered it, slipping a hand behind her back to adjust the blades so they wouldn't poke her. She also shifted the chakra to rest more in her lap - it wouldn't be good if she accidentally tore up the nice couch. She resisted the urge to bounce - the Sanctuary wasn't known for it's comfy furniture. "This is really nice Jaden - thanks."

His shyness surprised her, and touched her. Here she was, all afraid she was making a horrible impression, and to find out he was feeling the same way, well that was incredible to her. She looked up from the chakra in her lap just in time to catch him running his hand through his hair - something she did when she was feeling shy, and the gesture brought out a smile, and she set the chakra on a nearby table, the motion revealing the scales tattoo on her left hand. "That sounds familiar - usually I'm patrolling, so that doesn't leave much time for just - hanging out. It'll be good to take a break - all the work can be tiring, like you said."

She ran her fingers through her bangs, settling them away from her face as she looked up at him. "You sound just fine to me - and here I'm all afraid I sound like a little kid to someone like you."

Jaden Linares

Date: 2007-04-11 08:43 EST
Brown eyes look over at her and he shakes his head just slightly, perhaps just enough to show is negation of what she had said. "No, you do not sound silly at all. Here I am so formal with everything I say, and act. But to be honest I feel very comfortable in your company." He smiles softly and leans back on the couch.

"Sometimes it is nice to just sit back and be. Not let anything cloud your judgment, paperwork, patrolling." He looks over at her. "Just to sit back, relax and have a moment to sit with someone and just talk about yourself, your life, and eat fries." He chuckles and does indeed notice the scales tattoo on her hand as she laid the chakra on the table.

Just at that moment the knock on the door is to signal the fries and Cokes have arrived and he stands up from the couch and over to the door. Opening it he nods with a smile. "Thank you." As he takes the tray from Cook, he turns and shuts the door with his foot and settles the tray down on the table in front of her.

Grabbing a fry from his own plate he is back on the couch and taking a bite of it in no time. "Not too hot." He smiles.

Eddie

Date: 2007-04-13 23:33 EST
His reassurance brought a smile, and a bit of a blush to her cheeks. "I feel the same way - it's like I can tell you anything." She curled up on the couch, again reaching behind her to keep her blades from digging into her back. She looked over just as he did, laughing with him. "It is nice - I had no idea just chilling like this could be so much fun - and I hope those fries get here soon!"

Just then came the knock at the door, and Jaden was up getting the tray before she could move, doing all the little things, like putting the tray in front of her - that made her smile to herself. She reached for a fry as he sat back down, eating it quickly and gong for another. "Oh he makes the best fries - they don't burn your mouth, and they're not ice-cold!"

After a couple more fries, she took her glass of Coke and raised it to Jaden, her smile lighting up her light brown eyes. "Here's to more nights of chilling with fries!"

Jaden Linares

Date: 2007-04-18 10:20 EST
He smiles and watches as she grabs up a fry then he goes and grabs more for himself and nods to her. After swallowing the fry of course, then he speaks. "Cook does make very good fries, I am not usually eating fries but I must say, they are quite tasty. But then he does make wonderful food period. And tells the most awful jokes." He nods sagely.

He moves forward to grab his own Coke and gently knocks her own with it and smiles once more. "Here, here." He laughs softly and takes a sip of the Coke then leans forward to set it back on the table. Brown eyes keep on her as his hand goes through his hair. "Tell me Eddie, if I may be so bold to ask what the tattoo on your hand means? It caught my eye I must say, does it have to do with your sisters?"

Leaning back once more, he gets comfortable.

Matthew Gordon

Date: 2007-04-19 07:44 EST
He raps on the door to Jaden's office and pokes his head in before he gets a response from within. "Hey boss, I'm off for the night. Everything's quiet on the westward front." he grins and takes them in with his eyes.

"Nate's on guard now and Doug went up to sit with him. Guess the youngin wants to do security now?"

A grin and he nods to Eddie. "Night Eddie, night Jay, see you guys." and with that, he steps back out and closes the door.

Eddie

Date: 2007-04-21 19:56 EST
Eddie had been so focused on Jaden, smiling as he clinked his glass against hers, that the knock startled her, and her hand (the one not holding the glass) instinctively went for the blade at her back, only to relax as Matt entered. She nodded to him as he stepped out. "Night Matt."

She gave Jaden a smile as she set her glass down. "He sure takes his job seriously.. "

After a little pause, she pushed up the sleeves of her hoodie, and showed Jaden the backs of both her hands. He'd seen the scales on her left hand, now he'd also see the crossed swords tattoo that adorned her right hand. "They're the symbols of Scathach - Goddess of righteous warfare. Every Sister gets these marks when their initiation is complete. Wherever any of us may go after leaving the Isle, we're all united." She gently traced the scales tattoo with her finger - it still looked very fresh. She looked at Jaden through her bangs, as they had fallen across her eyes again - waiting to see his reaction. She was scared he'd run screaming from his office now.

Jaden's glance went from Eddie to the door when it is knocked on. He smiles as Matt looks in. "Thank you Matt." He nods. "Let Nate know that tonight is a school night and that he may need to remind Doug of that." He chuckles softly, Jay always sounded like a strict father to himself. Course most of the time the younger brothers of the household do call for it themselves.

"Goodnight Matt, see you tomorrow as usual." He nods and watches as he closes the door and then his attention is back to Eddie. "Yes, we all take it seriously, sometimes too seriously. But Matt he keeps the compound safe from some of the very interesting animals and strange beings that seem to lurk in the shadows of Rhydin." He smiles.

When she pushes up her sleeves and shows him the tattoos he looks down with much interest and listens to her. A nod. "Was it painful?" He takes another sip of his Coke then leans over to place it on the table before looking back to her and even down at the tattoos once again. "Here at the fraternity some members do go and get tattoos but they have nothing to do with the fraternity." He chuckles again and moves his arm on the back of the couch behind her.

"Matt's really good too - on the ball all the time. Can't ask for better in security, that's for sure."

Eddie smiled as Jaden talked, relieved he didn't run screaming - or call the security expert back. When he asked if the tattoos hurt, she shook her head. "Not too bad - just here." She tapped her right hand, where the swords crossed. "Other than that, they didn't hurt much. Trixie and Jenai both have really fancy ones - I don't think I could sit still long enough for any more."

She adjusted her sleeves - leaving the tattoos visible, and reached for her Coke, taking a big sip. Setting the glass down, she snagged another couple of fries, and sat back on the couch, nibbling away happily, not minding his arm in the least. She settled her bangs out of her face after the fries were done, and turned light brown eyes up to Jaden, curious to know more about him.

"So, how long have you been a brother?"

A nod to what she had said about Matt. "Oh, yes. He and Nate do an excellent job. Could not find any better two guys then those, and they usually have a very good skill of appointing other security guards as well."

He looks down at her hand as she taps it. He nods gently. "I have no tattoos, but I can not say that I haven not thought of it." He smiles and reaches forward for one of the last fries from his plate then sits back again and eats it. Once he is done chewing he speaks again. "Now that I think of it, I probably would not be able to sit still either, I have to move every once and a while. And I tend to fidget when nervous, so a needle poking my arm would definitely make me nervous." He chuckles.

"Well I have been here since I was fourteen, my parents had enough children to take care of, and so when you are the eldest you get sent on to schools and such. So I was no different. Not that I have minded, coming here has changed my life, for the better. I have much more family then I have ever, and I could not be happier. But then I am sure you feel the same about your sisters." He nods with a small smile on his lips.

"And although I hate to cut this evening short, I have some teenagers to attend to and make sure they have gone to bed." He laughs. "But, I was wondering if perhaps you would like to go for tea sometime? Or even coffee if you like. I would like to get out of the fraternity house and to have a friend along, what do you think?" Course then the hand that is not on the couch behind her, raises up to move through his hair as he awaits her response.

Eddie finished up her last couple of fries as she listened to Jaden, smiling up at him. "I'm so glad they're as good as they are - it really puts my mind at ease."

He really had her smiling, laughing as she finished up her Coke. "I fidget too - there's no way I could make it through a big huge tattoo! The one side of the Scales is little bit wiggly, so I can just picture what anything else would look like."

She listened, full attention on him as he told her of his family, which really did remind her of her Sisters. The guys came from all walks of life, from many different places, just like her Sisters at the Sanctuary. Her smile softened. "Coming here changed my life too. I can't imagine being anywhere else." She meant RhyDin, mostly.. the arm behind her warm and sweet.

His invitation brought that color back to her cheeks. "I think I'd love to meet for coffee - Jenai got me into it." She took a little breath to settle the butterflies. "There's a little coffee shoppe in the Market, maybe we can go up there tomorrow? That is - if you're not too busy.."

Her color went rosier - she had such a nice time sitting and talking with Jaden, she hated to see the time end. She hoped she didn't sound too forward or pushy, but the impulse grabbed her. She uncurled from the couch, brushing against his arm, and stood, quickly re-attaching her chakra to her belt. As she turned back to face Jaden, her smile was soft and sweet.

"I really enjoyed myself - thank you."

A nod with a smile. "I think anyone can be changed here in Rhydin. It can be an amazing place as long as you stay away from the trouble, or have good people like you and your sisters watching out for us." He smiles more softly. Brown eyes staying on her for the time being.

"Coffee would be wonderful. I do not believe I have visited this coffee shop, been a very long time since I have been out to the Market district, yes I think that would be great." The smile just keeps growing, course he clears his throat and makes it disappear, seeming too eager can also cause a little awkwardness so he keeps that down to a minimum. "Not busy at all, it would be yet another welcomed break."

And as she stood he quickly was quick to stand also, never let a lady stand on her own. He smiles down at her and watches as she places the weapon back on her belt. A little nervousness strikes him and his hand goes through his hair for probably the twentieth time since they have sat to talk. Not that it was the weapon but rather he really had not wanted the visit to end but, as it were he did have many things to attend before the night was over.

"It was very enjoyable Eddie, and thank you as well. I enjoyed your company very much." He smiles gently and walks with her to the door, opening it for her. His free hand moves down to take her right hand in his and brings it up to his lips, a light kiss over the crossed swords tattoo. "I look forward to tomorrow." He smiles and lets her hand slide from his.

"Have a safe journey home." He nods.

She knew she probably had the sappiest smile ever, but she couldn't help it. She ran a hand through her bangs as she looked up into those sweet chocolate eyes.

"It's right by that big fountain - you can't miss it, the aroma wakes you up! Is ten too early? I get done with my duties about then."

His manners, the properness she'd only heard of before meeting Jaden, continued to impress and touch her, as he walked her to the door, and opened it for her. The catching and kissing of her hand was unexpected, and sent the butterflies into overdrive. She gently squeezed his hand before he let hers go.

"I'm looking forward to it too - and I'll be watching out for you." And she didn't mean just tomorrow.

With a last smile for Jaden, Eddie left his office, and slipped silently down the hallway, out the door, and into the night. Her dreams were sure to be sweet tonight.
