For the first time in a few months, Bob had a new section of his website to upload. It had been in the works for a long time, he'd gone over the code with a comb, he'd talked to people 'in the know', and he'd even sacrificed a few chickens to strange and fickle gods with names lost to time. It was a tiny little section, right between his "Cats: Why They Are The Best" and "Fanfic" sections. It was titled, aptly:

Duelist Spotlight

Clicking on the link took people to a menu of articles, which would be updated more or less when he was motivated to write them, about the different duelists participating in the rings. Since he'd come to RhyDin with Rick Spade and Quinn Heartt, Bob had been a fan. Fists, swords, and magic, he loved it all. And now he was going to share that love with everyone who followed his website. He even already had an article ready to go!

Farron Away the Ring?s Greatest Dueler: A Look at Claire

Claire Farron's unofficial biography (written by yours truly) states that she was born in a secret log cabin hidden in Cocoon's Bodhum on May 13th, many moons ago, and her birth was prophesied by a swallow and heralded by the appearance of a double rainbow and a new star in the sky, and that she has a ?magical power? that allows her to control the weather with her changing mood. She may also be the greatest golfer ever, even if she only played once, having shot 38 under par (an unbelievable 25 shots better than the world record) on a regulation course, including an astonishing 11 holes in one.

She also has the nicest smile in the arena. PHOTO EVIDENCE, PEOPLE:

Her husband, Noctis ?Not Bob? Caelum is also a dueler of some renown, mostly for being the universe?s luckiest husband and for being the not too shabby in the rings himself, even if he only fights when there?s a full moon out or when Claire asks him really, really nicely. About his wife, he had this to say: ?How the hell did you get past security again??

But Claire isn?t all good looks and unbelievable golf skills. Within a year of her debut, she was a triple title holder, having won titles in all three sports including the towers of Water and Earth, the barony of Seaside, and the black opal ShadoWeaver. She?s the current Baroness of Old Temple, having unseated the talented Senior Baron Kalamere Ar?din for the position. She?s also the current Keeper of Earth and friend to the dryads. She was the 53rd Archmage, and in this writer?s eyes, it?s only a matter of time before she?s Archmage again.

She?s even landed the legendary feint spinkick. That?s right, folks. Feint. Spinkick. TO THE FACE. How many other people can claim that? Not many, that?s for sure!

But don?t take my word for it. Just read what others have had to say about our favorite duelist:

I stopped in with Grace Frigg during one of her nightly BBQ at the Tower of Fire to ask her how training with Claire has affected her. She told us, ?Working with Claire is great at the Caelum Training Center. She?s taught me to use what I have at my disposal to the best of my ability. In practice matches if I do well, then I get a smoothie! And then if I do *really* well, then I get a smoothie AND a cupcake.? She added, "I like food. So I do well."

Melanie, who herself is a famous duelist and one of the greatest practitioners of fist-on-face, expressed respect when discussing her former student in the ring. "While we butted heads on some things and likely always will, I can be sort of a *****, she never really gave me any problems when I was helping her out. She's a quick learner, a well rounded fighter, that's evident by her relevance in every venue, and a kind hearted, though it takes some time to get there, person. She gave me one hell of a fight for ShadowWeaver, she's clearly a big time performer. I don't have many friends here, but if she called from Hell, I'd kick a few gates down without thinking."

I tracked down Khoom Helston, Claire?s old mentor in the ways of magic and a long time friend, and asked him what he thought of her success. "Claire? Oh, of course, wonderful student. And she's totally outdone me in everything, the little minx."

Rick ?Jerkface McMagicianButt? Spade, Claire?s mentee in the sport of fists, added: ?She?s a good woman, stepped in to help us out when we really needed it. The training is just an aside. We donate 10% of our sales in the shop to the charity she made in Lila?s name, I try to swing by and say hi to her and her husband when I have the time. She lets me use her gym. We box some. She?s helped me tighten up my approach and shown me a few moves. But really? She?s not just a good duelist. She?s a good woman.?

But the best part? Claire?s career is truly only starting. There are other things for her to accomplish, other titles for her to win. Other people for her to feint spinkick or fancy uppercut. Other Towers, other Districts. Her future is bright.

And I for one am glad to be here for it.

Plus, she?s way hot. I mean, c?mon:
