Ride the wind, Never coming back until I touch the midnight sun
Ride the wind, Never coming back again
Ride the wind, Never coming back until I touch the midnight sun

She was glad she was able to find a bike. It was comfortable and it resembled Gaz-Niki White Eagle. The handling could use some work, maybe a nitrous kit or jacks. She shook off her thoughts as she sped through the countryside outside of the city, heading for Stars End. She just took off without word. She didn?t know that anyone noticed. She was feeling antsy and caged.

Maybe Speed could come up with some upgrades to the machine. Right now, she opened up the throttle. She needed this type of speed. Even back home she would take off for days on end when she was in between relationships. Jax had a way of making her feel like crap. She would get tired and just disappear into the landscape, sometime showing up in Tir to hide and lick her wounds.

Of all the truths and lies, And stories of riders in the sky
Only the bravest try, Where eagles and angels dare to fly

She nudge the throttle to its limits. She loved that there was no Lone Star, no Knight Errant here to get into her business. Just her, the open road and the occasional ox cart in the road. For those roadblocks, she took the bike off road and zoomed on though. She turned the bike around and took it back towards the inn. She was craving a drink.

There was another ache that would not be as easy to sate. Still, this little taste of freedom whetted her appetite.

Ride the wind, Never coming back until I touch the midnight sun
Ride the wind, Never coming back again
Ride the wind, Never coming back until I touch the midnight sun

The roar of a motorcycle shatters the silence of the day. Winter sped through the streets of town slowing as she approached the inn. She wanted a drink before heading by to the *shop.* She was in lined leathers to ward off the cold. The bike was brought to a smooth stop in front of the inn and the engine killed without much preamble. She kicked the stand down. She keyed in the security codes that she had installed and kicked a long leg over the bike to gain her feet.

Thanatos lay on the porch red and purple fur bathing in the afternoon sun despite the cold. The abnormally large wolf stood up and stretched showing off his teeth before heading inside. He nudged the door open he held it open for the lady on the motorcycle behind him.

Winter arched a brow and nodded to Thanatos as she entered.

Thanatos wagged his tail and followed her in. "Good afternoon."

She half-smiled, ?Hoi, chummer."

"I'm glad to see I haven't put you off to much than." He said as he headed behind the bar and fetched a dish for water.

She pushed a stray strand behind a pointed ear. "I've been around."

His mouth was full with a dish that he set down on the ground, than he grabbed a bottle of water and punctured it filling his dish. "Would you care for anything?"

She moved over to the cold storage behind the bar, "I've got it."

Lapping at the dish he chuckled. "Can't blame a wolf for trying can you?"

She chuckled a bit, "Heh. Learned better than that." She winked.

"Oh well, what?s one to do?" A chuckle of his own as he sat down his head near level with hers. "So then how are you this fine day?"

She shrugged and made her way to the couch by the hearth, she took at a boneless sprawl with her beer. "Well enough, a little speed and a good beer and I'm in a good place."

"Well that?s good, but I fear I must part. We must continue this conversation another time perhaps." And with that he was gone - just kind of faded out of the room.

She rolled her eyes at that, "Nice to see the weirdos are the same no matter where you go."

The rumbling of a diesel engine can be heard approaching, cutting through the still silence outside and seeming to tremble the air itself as it approaches. The rumble builds until, out front, it roars to a crescendo, the source of the noise a rather large, streamlined-looking cross between a van, a truck and a tank. Painted black, it seems almost as if the color sucks in all the light around it. Mounted on the side is a rather large and fearsome looking Vengeance gatling-style gun, crawling along the ground on four huge off road tires.

Those eyes look over to the windows and chuckles as she sees the Armored beast, as she calls it, pulls up. She had been racing and opened the throttle on the bike to the max to get here. She pushed herself off the couch and walked over to the cold storage. She was rummaging in it for the moment.

The engine dies a moment later, and for a moment all is still and silent, the interior of the beast shadowed by darkly tinted windows of bulletproof glass. Finally, Speed pops the side door open and slips out, dressed as usual in casual clothing, jeans, boots and a t-shirt. The rear hatch pops open, lowering to the ground to form a ramp, and out of the back crawls the odd-looking Junkpile, walking out and off the ramp even as it begins closing with a hiss of hydraulics.

She came out of the cold storage with another beer and some munchies. Her stomach was trying to strangle her spine.

The doors all closed, he pats the side of the truck just over the wheel well and it beeps once before he and the drone head for the Inn, slipping in the door.

So she was coming back to the couch with beers and munchies, "Hoi, hot stuff." She grinned unrepentantly.

He chuckles softly, walking over to the couch to join her. A thumb is jerked over his shoulder to point out the way he came in. "Hey there yourself, good-lookin'. That your bike out front parked next to the Beast?"

She handed over a beer, "Yeah, that's my toy."

He chuckles, settling on the couch and appropriating one of the beers for himself. "You should see the rest of my toys...you've only seen a few of them so far."

She curled close, "Yeah, only when you are working on them." She teased lightly. She grabbed some of the munchies and started eating.

He grins, taking a long drink of the beer. "Well...some of the others need a bit of a special touch. After all, working on a bike is a far cry from working on something with a turbine engine."

She grinned at him, "Gonna have to distract you long enough to get the nickel tour."

He chuckles, nestling in closer. "All you have to do is get me first thing in the morning, before I get out of bed..."

She nestled in, "It that an invite to spend the night?"

He blushes a deep red at the question, nearly choking on his beer as he is about to take a drink of it. A cough later, he looks at her with a grin. "Well...er...if you think you would be comfortable..."

She looked up at him, "Well... I don't go if I'm not invited, yanno?" She was serious.

One more stifled cough to clear the remaining drops of liquid from his lungs, still blushing. "Well, then you should consider yourself invited."

She shifted a bit so that she was straddling him lap, facing him with a smile. She was so slight in many ways.

The large otherworldly wolf made his way up the porch steps slowly, panting heavily. Thanatos pushed the door open uncaring about the armored truck and motorcycle.

Speed?s hands come up to encircle her waist, surprisingly strong and large hands for someone so lean and lanky as he looks up at her with a grin. "So...is that a yes?"

Toned arms came up to rest on his shoulders, "That's a *try to stop me.*"

Thanatos headed towards the hearth his tail wagging slowly. "Humans," was muttered as he lat down in front of the fire.:

She tilted her head to Thanatos, "Elf..." The tone was flat.

?Correction, bipeds." As he growled low and rested his head on his paws.

She shook her head and turned her attention back to speed.

Thanatos stood up and looked at the elf licking his chops.

Winter had a gun was in her hand fast and a bead drawn on Thanatos.

"Shooting me is going to do little more than vex me, and give me a chance to find out what you taste like." He walked over to the bar chuckling to himself.

Curled up at their feet, what had looked like a lump of gray metal suddenly lurches to its feet, revealing itself to be a 6-legged mechanical drone roughly the size of a German Shepherd, facing the wolf. From multiple points on its body have sprouted four small cannon-sized guns, all trained on Thanatos. Speed gives the wolf a look with a chuckle. "How about shooting you a lot?"

"People prefer not to have your crude intentions on them, morkhan."

"It'll end the same, you can be the appetizer if you'd like." Thanatos took a little more of his true form horns sprouting from his head armor appearing on his chest, claws the length of large chefs knives. His eyes had a soft glow of power to them.

She rolled her eyes, "Respar sallah tishay a imar makkanagee-ha."

Without a word the demon (Lang) appeared in a lean by the hearth, arms crossed over his chest as his tail thrashed a bit behind him. Gaze slowly moving over the few patrons currently present. With a faint brow quirk as the one that was running off at the mouth at the bar ran.

She holstered her gun and placed her arms back on Speed's shoulders. "Loosely translated, ignore the fragger."

The robotic drone retracts the guns back into its body, not making a sound other than the hiss and whine of hydraulics as it folds itself back up into a harmless-looking lump of metal. Speed chuckles softly, shaking his head. "Some things never change."

Lang shrugged as he leaned his head against the wall, before he closed his eyes. "Just another mouthy brat. Nothing to worry about. " He murmured.

She shook her head, "Never do." She hadn't moved from Speed lap, even after drawing the gun.

"Nor do I. " A faint chuckle as Lang relaxed where he was at.

Speed looks at where she had holstered the gun, unaware that she had even been carrying one. From the shadows of the rafters comes a faint droning sound, as though there were a large insect up there moving around, which fades again into silence. Finally looking back up into Winter's eyes with a grin. "Anything else you're hiding that I should know about?"

She smiled, "You are just gonna have to frisk me and find out." She teased softly, "Though I am wired."

He glances down at the drone curled up near the couch, then up to the shadows of the rafters with a grin. "Oh, I already knew that...I took a peek." He grins, a suggestive tone in his voice.

She laughed softly. "Hmm, Got some news. Made contact with Pheonix."

At that, his eyebrows go up, though he makes no move, save for perhaps his hands on her waist pulling her in slightly closer. "Oh? And where did you manage to find her?"

She murmured, "Here." She settled in closer. "The ladies in your life are certain over-protective on you, eh?"

He sighs at that, rolling his eyes with a chuckle, a hint of that blush returning. "I think sometimes they see me as a kid."

She tilts her head a bit, "A little brother. At least that's what Peregrine said." She sighed softly, "So, yeah, she knows you are here and where to look."

He nods, looking thoughtful for a moment. "She hasn't left me a message. though she'll get around to it when she is ready." He focuses on her again, a grin on his face. "What did she say when you mentioned me?"

"First thing was pull a gun and point it at my head." She said quietly.

The grin on his face is wiped from it as surely as though he had been slapped. "She did what?" The voice is low, quieter.

She shook her head ruefully, "It's cool, Dave. We got it settled and talking and I still have my head, kies?"

He still doesn't look happy, but he is somewhat mollified for the moment. "Still...you'd think she could have been a bit more civil..."

She chuckled softly, "Speed, this may not be the 'Plex, but me and her both are front lines kinda gals."

"Hmph." He looks around the Inn pointedly. "You'd've thought that she'd've noticed we're a long way from the 'Plex."

"Still pays to keep your skills up. You saw that riot she was in."

He sighs, finally relinquishing his ire. "You couldn't just let me stay upset." His voice mockingly sullen, but with a certain teasing note.

She smiled softly at him, "Nope, then you'd be focusing on that. I'm in one piece and on your lap."

He grins, the teasing note remaining while the sullen one is dropped. "I've come back to that in a minute..."

She leaned in and nuzzled close, "(vq) Though it is sweet."

He blushes at that slightly, leaning up towards her just slightly. "Well...they may be my friends, but still...I really like you...a lot..."

She smiled at him, "(s) I like you too.. a lot." Fights had a way of getting her attention and her hand went to her gun, not drawing it yet, but watching warily. This one was a woman in a wrestling match with a huge leopard.

He starts at the door slamming open and the leopard running through, nearly sitting up straight in alarm and almost knocking Winter loose as he watches the action.

She nearly topples over and manages to get a leg to help steady them. Her hand on her gun in case it gets too close. As the fighting seemed to wind down to something companionable, she moved her hand away from her fire arm and resettled close to Speed, eyes hard and watching.

He's watching too, as well as the lump of grey metal at his feet, which has lifted it's head to watch the action, but otherwise hasn't moved.

She laid a head on Speed's shoulder, and turned her head to nestle in. She was fairly glib before, but damn she was wired. ?(vq) Your honor, I rest my case."

He chuckles softly, pulling her in close, taking advantage of her head on his shoulder to touch his lips to the base of her neck at the shoulder as he relaxes. "Yeah...I think it's just as strange here as it is back home."

She shivers a tiny bit, "(vq) Hm, Yeah, at least the dragons here are... tame." There was a bit of shifting and the flutter of a kiss on the side of his neck.

He laughs softly, his lips close to her ear. "I'll tell you...if we ever do go home...none of our chummers there would ever believe it."

She chuckled softly, "(vq) I can hear Archangel now in that pompous accent of his. *Are you sure you haven't hit your head?" She mimicked the accent.

He grins, nodding. "Hells, I'd have problems believing it if I weren't here myself."

She laughed softly, "Well, Elves are certainly more...common." She teased lightly, "Heard you were into Elf chicks."

Slowly that black Lonestar van pulls up in front of the Inn. Put in park, and engine shut off before the door opens and out comes Alicia. Dressed in her usual Lonestar uniform consisting of black leather pants, boots, vest, gloves and hat. Chrome badge attached above the right breast pocket of her matching duster. Glancing about the inn has she makes her way bar ward.

She tensed seeing that Lonestar uniform. The change was only noticeable to Speed. Feeling her tense, he follows her gaze. Her tension echoed in him as he sees the familiar uniform, though his hands move soothingly over her back. (vq) "What's the Star doing here...?"

She nestled against him, "(vq) Sounds like she has been here a while." Though hearing Taneth's (smokey) words about serving up elven kind at a BBQ, she was tense, with the hand moving near her gun again.

He sighs, trying to relax. "And here I thought I'd seen the last of that uniform..."

She murmurs softly, "(vq) Yeah, me too." She glanced around the room warily now. "(vq) Next person that mentions eating elves, gets a bullet between the eyes."

He chuckles at that, a sly glint in his eye, even as he blushes slightly, and moves up, his lips at her ear, murmering something too soft to be heard. ?(vq) And it is was me suggesting that I want to eat an elf??

There was the soft chuckle as murmured softly for his ears only. ?(vq) Then that calls for take home service.?

He chuckles as he leans back slightly, hazel eyes fixed on hers. "Is that a suggestion?"

She smiled at him, "(vq) You better believe it." She glanced at the tension, "(vq) This place is about to blow up like an Orc Biker Bar."

He looks around the Inn, nodding. (vq) "So let's get out of here then."

She slid from his lap and grinned, "Wanna race?"

He laughs at that, the drone lurching to its feet as he does and heading for the door. "On one condition, of course...you get a head start..."

She laughed, "It would figure." Still she headed for the door with him, "Still should be fun."

He reaches the door ahead of her, pushing it open and holding it for her as first she heads out, followed by Junkpile. Another drone, looking like nothing so much as a giant mechanical hornet, hums its way out of the rafter and zooms out into the night after him as he says to her, "Well, come on...I have to do something to make it fair..." The door swings shut behind them. In a few moments the night is disturbed by the roar of engines outside the inn.
