Kaia was bent over a small desk in the warehouse Speed had purchased, a desk light illuminating a small sphere of space in the otherwise darkened room. Her purple pen was scribbling non stop across the pages of her journal in the crazy hieroglyphic like symbols that only she could decipher. A map of Rhydin and the Marketplace were stretched out underneath her journal as she half muttered to herself. Kaia paused in her writing to run a finger over the map again.

?De?de?defense.? Came a squawking sound from behind her.

?No kidding.? She muttered absently, scribbling again. ?Tactical maneuvers ?gain position ? relative to enemy.? She commented cryptically in her short, clipped phrases. ?But they?re not trained. Not a tactical army.?

?Attrition.? The voice squawked again.

?I thought about that.? Kaia sighed, reaching a single finger toward her nose to push her glasses back up. ?Victory through capture or killng.? She lowered her pen to turn and glance over her shoulder, her grey eyes nearly sparking behind the lenses. ?I think it?ll have to be maneuver. Shock and awe. Firepower.?

The mechanical owl squawked again. ?Yes. Shoot em up. Bang bang.?

Kaia could not help but smile despite her mind being elsewhere. The small bird behind her shined in the lamp light, the silver metal glinting in the darkness. His wings flapped, the whirring of his components clicking as he tipped his head to regard her with his glass eyes. Metal eyelids closed and opened slowly. ?Boom.? The owl squawked again, flapping his wings.

Kaia shook her head. ?Yes. Bang bang. It?s the only way.? She blinked behind her glasses, suddenly turning in her chair to scratch a few more notes as her finger trailed along the map. ?Crowds. Water?? she muttered. ?Why not gather near the water?? She grumbled. ?Duh.?

Kaia scribbled for a few more moments before she dropped her pen and shut the journal, reaching over to shut off the lamp. ?Bye Percival.? She called to the owl, slinging her pack over her shoulder and exiting into the town. Someone needed to at least try and prepare these people for attack.

Kaia wound her way through West End until she approached the Marketplace; her mind whirring from the plans she had obsessed over the whole way here. The Market was pretty busy for the time of day, shoppers milling about the vendor stalls and stepping in and out of the various stores.

This was a good sign.

Kaia approached the central fountain of the market, dropping her bag lightly on the ground and stepping up onto the rim of the fountain. She clutched a lead pipe she had found in a passing dumpster in one hand as she cleared her throat and looked over those gathered.

??scuse me!? She called, quietly at first. A few passer bys eyed the teenager warily. A few others snorted and kept walking.

Kaia sighed, rolled her shoulders back and yelled. ?HEY!?

That got their attention.

The shoppers stopped, turning to look at her. She inhaled slowly, muttering about the amount of eyes on her. When they started to sneer and turn back to shopping , she got ahold of herself and began speaking loudly. ?Apparently there was an attack here the other night.?

?Yeah!? One man shouted. ?What of it??

?No one was prepared!? Kaia answered back, brandishing her lead pipe like a sword. ?You need to be!?

?And what? Yer gonna teach us? A girl and a child?? someone else yelled out.

?Someone has to.? She shot back. ?You?re welcome to come up here and test me.? She yelled out in challenge.

The shouter never stepped forward, much to the amusement of the growing crowd. ?First rule?? Kaia yelled. ?Stand together!?

She waved the lead pipe again. ?Second rule, know how to use anything around you!?

A woman raised a rather heavy shopping bag. ?Like this? Or my purse!?

?Well?no? not exactly?? Kaia started with a frown. The woman glared at Kaia and stormed off, pushing through the crowd, angry a young girl made her look stupid.

?I was thinking something more? like this.? She held up the pipe. ?Or a piece of wood. A chair. Even a beer mug.? She nodded.

A few of the onlookers in the front nodded in agreement, still shaken from the previous festivities. She began to instruct them on a few basic moves to use when defending themselves. She swung the pipe with expert precision, imagining an enemy in front of her. Those that were interested followed along, an elderly woman swinging her shopping back like she was attacking the devil himself.

?Oh get off the fountain!? Another voice yelled. ?We did fine on our own.?

Kaia scoweled. ?Yeah and that?s why that was the second attack by the same monsters.?

?What do you know?? Yet another voice shouted.

Kaia groaned, the leap pipe clutched tightly in her hand, low at her side. Those grey-blue eyes narrowed dangerously as she looked into the crowd for the voice. ?Want me to show you what I know??

A strange sensation that was but emotions were so close to that which she was familiar with. When the 'ware had been set within Eden the gift grace to her was not only that of persuasion but that of emotions.

Not just the average empath, the 'ware had given her an impulsive control over phermones... and oh the phermones of a riled crowd were a tangible flavor on her tongue.

Perched on a broken down set of crates Eden had her view of a savage paradise of violence and restless hunger of a crowd waiting to be set loose like dogs upon once such small, fragile figure.

The pad of her thumb was set between her teeth, decisions decisions taking her mind as she dropped down from her vantage point of that wicked paradise of human flesh and wild wrought emotions.

Sometimes for as brilliant as the girl was, her taste for violence and war tactics well... it seemed to get the best of her. Poor dear, Kaia.

Effortlessly Eden would weave and wind her way through the crowd, her presence already offering a strange coaxing suggestion of comfort and relaxation to soothe those restless, wicked nerves.

Head raised spilled the liquid gold of her hair from her face as she smiled to Kaia and rose one leg after another to ascend her joining of Kaia on the fountain.

Eden was a ravishing vision of white and gold, sunlight and ethereal offerings of sweet bliss as she glanced down to the genius beside her.

"Good to see you again, Athena."

A smile rose to her lips as she looked out upon the crowd. That smile that could make men end wars and become friends, a smile to melt the most savage hearts as she lifted a brow in silent challenge for any that would dare speak a word of ill against Kaia.
