There was something warm in his bed. He knew who it was and just knowing that was enough to craft a sleepy grin on Russ' face. The bed was a mess, covers tangled around them both. It was still mostly dark outside but there was a glow that meant sunrise was coming. Rather than fall back to sleep, Russ rolled over so he could crack open his eyes and look at him. London. Damn but it was good to see him there.

What was going on really? Sure, he didn't like it when London was distracted by others but in all honesty Russ didn't think it was jealousy. Jealousy was when you were afraid of losing something or someone, or you wanted what someone or something else had. Russ didn't feel that. He had a sense deep down that he wasn't losing London when London was off with others. He had a faith that London wouldn't forget him. If Russ had to put a name to what he felt, he had to admit that it was more selfishness; a wanting to be the focus of London's time. But hell, that would really screw things up. Wouldn't it? London had to be London and that meant London went where the wind took him. Russ knew this. In fact, it was part of what he loved about London. That ability to just up and go and do something different, experience something crazy, and have no regrets for trying it. Russ hadn't really been like that. His big excitement had been coming to RhyDin and starting over, trying to make it on his own without the family right there behind him. He had no ill feelings for his family but a man had to do what a man had to do. The family understood that too and supported him from afar for reaching out on his own. His brother had admitted to thinking Russ was safer in RhyDin anyway, far away from the family business and the pitfalls that went along with it. Russ reached fingers up to gently touch London's cheek while London slept. He was glad the wind had brought him back.

Sure, they fought sometimes. He and London didn't always see eye to eye. Be weird if they did. But the fighting and differing opinions only added to their relationship. Wow. Now there was a word that could be taken any number of ways by any number of people. Yes, they had one and whatever it was it seemed to be working. No need to think on that more.

But then there was that kid. Russ curled his hand up and tucked the fist under his pillow. He studied London there in the twilight of morning, wondering what had happened there. Russ had mixed feelings about this Jack kid and didn't really want to think about it too much. Russ sighed, eyes closing for a moment. For now he could just leave it alone. Seemed whatever had started there was done between London and Jack. Russ secretly admitted that he was glad it was done, that the kid had left. Russ selfishly wished Jack well because if he got himself occupied with someone else, he would leave London alone. Russ didn't want London wandering back that way anytime soon. Russ had a feeling that Jack would be the wind that took London away for good and Russ didn't like that thought at all.
