Topic: It's Valentine's Day! The Luncheon

Erin closed the bedroom door behind her with a soft click. She was wearing red. A lot of red. A red dress, red shoes, red lipstick and even some red eyeshadow. It was overkill, really, but she was excited. Very excited. Heels clicked down the stairs as she hurried to the door. That was her destination! And once she got there she pulled the door open with a smile.

Hair a mess of curls, she pushed it out of her face to let in the caterers, all dressed in white and carrying trays. "Nice to meet you! Come in, come in... I'll show you to the dining room." Erin led them through the hall and into the dining room, pointing out the table she had set up to hold the food. She figured people would be coming and going and it would be best to have it be buffet style.

The three caterers hurried to work, laying white linens with pink overlays and setting out the trays on those little racks with the small flames underneath. It was very official looking.

Leaving the staff to their work, Erin worked on ambiance. She had gathered records for the event and settled on a selection of crooners. Frank Sinatra, Rosemary Clooney, etc. She had set the record player in the drawing room, starting her particular favorite Sinatra tune as she readied the bar. It was almost time for people to start arriving, and Erin was nervous.

Lydia was arriving a little early, but what's the harm in that!? Today was one of those 'long days'. A lot to do, but it didn't feel like nearly enough time, which is just why she was arriving early.

She had made some effort in looking nice today, since this was more than just meeting people at the bar casually. Sea green hair was.. up. Just a simple french twist, though a few long bangs framed her face. Makeup was light and natural. The faintest tint of plum was painted on her lips, and there was just a touch of purple shadow over her eyelids. Hidden beneath scarf and jacket was that necklace her sister had given to her a while ago for her birthday. Silver with a very light blue stone dangling from the bottom. Her dress was long, lilac, formfitting, backless and with thin straps. (hence the jacket!) It still allowed for quite a bit of modesty though, without being overly modest. And? It was one of her very own creations! To top it all off, were lilac colored high heels... they had to match ya know?

Sure, red and pink were the Valentine's Day colors, but the green haired elf wasn't really a red and pink type of girl.

Heels clicked and shuffled faintly on cobblestones as she approached the manor. Truthfully she was a little nervous about showing up. She didn't know what she was going to do, and she wasn't sure who was going to be here... but! She'd not miss it. It was her sister's event after all.

Deep breath taken in, a finger lifted to hesitantly press against the door bell.

Ding dong.

It was a day for love. Romance and passion were the themes of the hour, but Dameon couldn't bring himself to wander to such thoughts, what with the very recent passing of his would-be significant other. He handled it well enough, the words of friends and loved ones helping him through the most ironic of times to have one's heart broken.

He stepped up the road toward the manor, his armor absent for this occassion. Instead he had a long-sleeved red button-up shirt buttoned to the collar-bone, overlayed by a black vest. His pants were also black, tucked into a pair of black leather boots which he had noticably put forth effort into polishing up. He still had his black cloak thrown over his shoulders, as the weather was still cold in the late winter. His hair was neatly spiked up, and the sun brought out the deep sapphire lusture in his eyes.

He stopped just short of the front steps, seeing as his dear friend Lydia had beat him to ringing the bell. He placed his hands on his hips, and awaited an answer to the door.

The doorbell! Erin, now holding a single glass of wine, left the drawing room and hurried through the hall. A long breath in and then out and she pulled open the door, smiling at whoever was there. "Lydia!" Eyes then moved on, "And Dameon! It's great for you to come."

She stepped out of the way to let to the two in. "There's a coat rack there to the left and then follow me into the drawing room. I'll get you a drink." She gestures to the coat rack as she passes through the hall. "We'll eat as soon as more people get here. Feel free to make yourself at home." Yeah, Erin was beaming, almost bouncing through the house. She lifted her glass for a seat and hovered by the drink cart, in case they had a request.

Storm Divine

She appeared just as Lydia, a man she had never met, and Erin all walked inside.. and the door was closing. The Guardian elongated her next steps, which was a sight, since she was in a dress and low-heels. Not that she lost balance or anything.. but... unless you went to the Ball, you've never seen her with a dress... or shoes.

Her dress was the color of a soft, light pink. Pink?!? Oh yes, Storm was able to make a run through the MarketPlace before coming. The cut was bowl-shaped... exposed skin hardly ever seen, but modest just the same... and long sleeved. The fabric wasn't silky, but a bit stretchy, so it fit her like a glove... without looking painted on. And starting from the right ribcage, a gradually increasing swirl of gold went all the way down to the hem of her dress, which was her mid-calfs. And her low-heeled shoes were a light pink to match. She even had the slightest hints of make-up.. the most obvious was her eyelids.. starting light pink on the inside... and shifting to gold on the outside.

After the few previous nights, Storm had really contemplated on coming. She was just sooo tired, not dealing with emotional stress very well. And who has seen Storm upset, or stressed? So very little. She was the type who could handle herself well, a nice balance between logic and emotions. Ah ha, but not as of late. But... Erin was there. And Lydia would be here. It was enough, to support the pair of them. And why not? Wearing the dress, and the faintest signs of make-up was doing wonders on her self-esteem. Though under the make-up, her eyes were tired... but her skin was glowing, and her grey eyes were bright.

Now she just had to make it inside!

"Mind if I join you all?" She says with a smile, a hand bracing the door before it shuts on her.

A smile was offered to Dameon before the door of the manor opened and her sister, her very very red sister, was there greeting people. "Hey Erin!"

She shuffled inside with a couple of quick steps, moving off to the side to get out of the way and move towards that indicated coat rack. First the scarf was unwrapped from around her neck and hung up. A quick adjustment to her necklace was made and then coat was slid off and hung on the same peg.

Hands clasped behind her back as she moved in a little more, following along behind her sister. Though she paused when she heard a familiar voice and turned back towards the door, grin offered to the newest pink clad arrival. Lydia was quite certain Storm would be welcome, but this was Erin's manor, and Erin was the hostess after all. So she just turned back towards the little red lady and waited.

"Come in, come in!" Erin smiled even wider as she caught sight of Storm and waved her in. "Now what do you all want to drink? I have a semi-full bar, and tea and coffee... and I could get a soda from the kichen if you want..."

Yes, Erin was bouncing with excitement as she moved through the drawing room, grabbing glasses and waiting for orders. One more look at the now closed door. Who would come next? She smiled yet again, her bouncing out of time with the soothing music.

Turning from her mirror she smiled, in satisfaction, running fingers through her hair and straightening her shoulders as she walked from her room and to the landing, down the stairs and into the foyer, where the scent of warm blood, various perfumes and cologne stirred manic beneath her nose, and a small gathering had begun.

She stepped from her pause and walked into th kitchen, throwing a big grin to everyone and sliding onto a bench top.

"So, who's gonna get laid tonight?!"

Eyes darted from face to face.

"ME!"

She burst out into a fit of chuckles, swaying her feet back and forth and grabbing her gut as though it was so funny she was sick. Suddenly, her michievious face grew solemn and she shrunk into herself some.

"No, seriously. This day is for losers to get lucky and lotharios and hot chicks to get even luckier!"

A smile, she looked to the food, licking her lips and running her knuckles along her cheek and neck, wiping strands from there and there that clung in kinks of would be straight hair, that feline finesse creeping into action, particularly as her eyes passed over Dameon. What a cat she was!

He smiled to Erin and Lydia respectively as they acknowledged him, and stepped inside the manor with a grin, happy to be attending his first true social event since coming home. As Erin gestured to the coat rack, he nodded, unfastening his cloak and sweeping it off of his shoulders, hanging it neatly.

He stepped gracefully, keeping close to Lydia as she was the only person present so far, aside from Erin, with whom he was acquainted with.

He did, however, find time to offer a confident smirk to the girl who he caught looking his way. Old habits seem to die hard.

Soda sounded pretty good. But pepsi, or root beer in a lilac dress? And with her record of mess making... It'd be best if she didn't take that chance. Another glance around among the gathered before she smiled to her sister. "Water will be fine for me..."

Lydia stepped in a little further, blinking a couple times to the newest entrant. Erin had told her about her.. Cricket. That was it. She blinked yet again to her words, then let her gaze fall to the floor, shoes shuffling and clicking very faintly against the floor.

Really, she should probably be mingling and greeting and more outgoing but she was no social butterfly. At all. Just a wallflower.

Erinalle Dunbridge

"Crick! How nice of you to come down. And aren't you pretty?" Smirking she poured Lydia a glass of bottled water, adding some ice(also from bottled water!). She shook her head as she poured a whiskey for Cricket offering it over.

"Just try not to scare anyone. " That was said as she looked over to Lydia, making sure she survived that entrance. A soft smile as she saw that she seemed okay. And that Dameon at least seemed a little comfortable so far...

"I love this song... " She turned the record player as "Luck be a Lady" sang by the formidable Frank Sinatra came on.

"You look pretty nifty yerself, Dollykins", she exclaimed as she gazed at her friend fondly, then launched into.."Scare someone? Me?!", in mock surprise, following with a "darling, you know me well", as she took the whiskey gratefully and downing it in one delicious throw back.

"See, Erin, even Frank agrees, its a day for getting LUCKY!"

A shrill laugh at that and then she composed herself and looked pointedly at the two others.

"So, who are these charming chaps and chicks?", indigo eyes flashing at Lydia then Dameon, as they ran across each with her infamous crooked smile and placed the glass down.

"They are making my knees weak. Both of them!"

Erinalle Dunbridge

Erin giggled. And sighed. At the same time. She stepped forward so that she could present the other three people without letting them feel like fresh meat for the Cricket on the prowl.

"This is Lydia. My sister. You've probably seen her room across the hall from yours, though she doesn't stay here much anymore." Lydia was pointed to. Then she pointed at Dameon, tilting her head as she thought of an introduction. "That handsome young man is Dameon. He's free game for your attentions. Erin winked then, shaking her head a little. "And this lovely lady here is Storm. You may remember her, she was one of my first friends when I got here... when you still came out and partied." Snicker snort.

GrveyrdGrl

A grimace at Erin's comment, but all in good fun.

"Why....hello there", the boneless seeming motions of the Cricket following her chin as it turned across the room and shared that devils grin with Storm.

"A'int you a sweet little lady", she chimed, waving at her and tossing her head to the side, taking her in.

A brow, all hair and not kohl, arched high.

"Luverly to meet you, Storm-O!"

She teetered over in those black boots and extended a hand, green nails splayed wide.

With a smile Lydia accepted the.. iced water? Oh dear. She and ice didn't get along so well anymore. But it'd be rude to say something about that now, right? In front of all these people? No sips taken just yet though. A grateful nod was offered in thanks to her sister before she turned back towards Cricket, head canting a little at the introductions.

"It's nice to meet you finally Cricket." A little nod offered to her before she glanced among the gathered, feet shuffling a little more. She was just a little nervous. Social situations... that glass was lifted to her lips for a sip, but then she remembered. The ice! So that glass was lowered before she sipped.

"Oh, ah... Erin, I think I hear Snowflake crying." Pause. "Over there... I'll go check on her, yeah?"

Lydia turned and shuffleshuffled on over towards the ballroom and went in there. Perhaps not the most mannered thing to do, probably some sort of social faux pas sin committed, but she didn't know any better! Truthfully, she didn't really hear little Snowflake, she just wanted a brief moment to herself, and to figure out what to do with that ice.

Glass was shifted from one hand to the other as she looked around, head tilted a little to the music. It wasn't bad per se, but her sister did have.. interesting taste to say the least. She wasn't used to the music she listened to. Pale blues paused on a nearby houseplant then. Droopy thing, looked like it could use some water... she could pour some in there, melt the ice in her cup, and her problem would be solved!

She glanced around quickly, then moved over towards that plant.

Poooour...

"I'll take an iced water too.. please.." She says to Erin with a warm smile. She was really excited! A mark of independence for the Elemental.. a chance to meet such lovely people. A chance to build community... things important to her.

She was about to introduce herself to the gentlemen, before grey eyes shift over to Cricket. Oh, she remembered her... she had a decent memory of familiar faces and names. She offered a small nodd and smile. "A pleasure to see you again, Cricket."

She frowned slightly as Lydia left, but didn't think much of it. So, instead of feeling awkward, she took the liberty to turn to the only gentleman in the room. "Hello... I'm Storm." Her hand was offered, as well as a polite smile.

Dameon Phoenix

He simply watched everyone quietly, smiling as each person's name became known to him. He offered a polite nod to Erin to show her that he was, indeed, quite comfortable, after which he offered a chuckle. "So, I'm fair game now, am I? That's an awkward thing to announce when I'm the only bloke here so far, don't you think?"

He placed his hands on his hips, tilting his head as he looked over his apparent 'selection,' grinning all the while. Placing Dameon in such a situation... why it was almost like throwing a child into a candy store, so to speak. To think, he was the only gentleman in a room full of attractive female, albeit not all single. But still, this realization seemed to put some spring in his giddy-up.

He turned his gaze back to Erin, with a confident smile placed across his lips. "We'll just have to see how fair it is by the end of the day, now won't we?"

Jewell didn't want to be late, but she wasn't having the hardest time on deciding what to wear--of all things! There was the Empress, in the middle of her huge walk in closet, staring at all her dresses in disgust. She realized, belatedly, that she should have stopped by Koy's shop and just bought a new dress. However, it was a little late for that.

All the colors, Jewell hadn't worn anything but black for weeks now. It had fit her mood too well. Unfortunately, she didn't feel that black was exactly appropriate for Erin's lunch party and her sense of social propriety (at times non-existent, like when the Harpies tried to capture that poor Paladin with a net) refused to let her adorn that color for the occasion.

After much fussing and complaining, all to herself, she finally decided on an dress. It was a very old dress of hers, from when she was much younger, which was the only reason why it currently fit so perfectly with all the weight she had been losing recently; it turns out Jewell was a little thinner before she started popping out kids left and right.

Dress picked, she had to give extra care to her overall appearance. She wasn't under the false impression that she had been looking good lately. In fact, she knew how awful her under-eye circles had become and how pale her skin was. A little touch of makeup, and an even bigger touch of glamour, had her almost looking like the old-Jewell. She tried a smile in the mirror at herself as she pinned up all her blue curls; she could do this.

It was a short carriage ride to Isis Manor and she fidgeted the entire way, reminding herself that she had to be bright and cheerful. Stepping out of the carriage, she practically ran the few steps to the door--an awesome feat in heels but one she had mastered long ago. Her knock was short and strong, she wanted to be let in from the cold!

Erinalle Dunbridge

Date: 2007-02-09 11:26 EST
Erin had frowned when Lydia left the room and almost followed after, but really there was too much going on to try and contain the herd that was growing in her downstairs. She rolled her eyes at Dameon and was about to speak when she heard the knock at the door. She bowed her head in an excuse me and headed back out into the hall.

Erin clicked all the way, heels and hardwood floors having that affect, and again, didn't bother to check the peep hole before pulling the door open. She shivered from the cold air that rushed in as eyes leveled on Jewell, but her smile didn't falter. A quick step to the side so that the woman could pass her.

"J! You look absolutely stunning. I'm going to have to go upstairs and change to even look half as good." Erin giggled just a touch, shaking her head. "Get in out of the cold and I'll get you something to drink. That dress is pretty, but not particularly weather appropriate." .

Erin had decided to herself before she even had gotten dressed this morning that she wasn't going to mention any unpleasantness at all today. Sure, it was a bit impractical and even unhealthy, but it would do well to embody that hostess myth of everything being grand. It was her hope that for at least two hours of one day people could be friendly and together without being upset, drunk or attacked. So far, so good.

Storm Divine

Date: 2007-02-09 19:08 EST
Hmm.... presence unknown, perhaps she would try the introduction again later. A hand hesitantly tugs down her dress, not entirely comfortable. But, it was good, who says the Guardian cannot dress up every now and then? She had to make a mental note to not fidget with her hands, such bad habits.

Grey eyes flicker towards the door, making sure she wasn't in the way as she walked further inside the manor. She turns to look at the new person to enter, sensing the water. It was the pretty tender, Jewell. Storm couldn't recall ever meeting her, but she was well known and liked, so Storm offered a warm smile as she came inside.

How many other people were going to come? It made her a little anxious, to meet new people. Establishing herself even further into the community, any friends of Erin could very well be hers.

But.. perhaps she would wait for Lydia before introducing herself further. A friendly was always welcomed.

Lydia Loran

After pouring a bit of water into that plant, she lifted her glass up to examine it. Since she had lowered the level a bit, it wouldn't be a problem to melt the ice, which is just what she did. Pale eyes glowed faintly and the hand gripping the glass warmed a bit, melting the ice. The water wasn't as cold, but it would do!

A swig of water was taken from the glass as she glanced around the empty ballroom, then back towards the door. Lips pursed faintly as she started back that way, her steps a bit slow.

"Don't be so ridiculous..." A bit of a mutter to herself.

Head poked out the door to peek back at the crowd, a breath was taken in, then she moved back over. Brows lifted faintly at the sight of blue hair. Jewell must have shown up when she was off saving Erin's plant. A warm smile and wave was offered to her before she took up a spot close to Storm.

Smilesmile. Sipsip. Shuffleshuffle.

Dameon Phoenix

He had eagerly awaited a retort from Erin, expecting someone to have said something regarding his overambitious statement.

Instead, he followed her with his eyes as she opened the door for Jewell, a face he was visably happy to see. He offered the Empress an enthusiastic smile and a short wave, cocking his head to the side. "Y'know, m'lady, I still owe you a round of whiskey. Let me know when you'd like to take me up on it." He winked mischeviously, and then turned his attention to Storm, who he hadn't yet met.

He extended a hand to her politely, standing straight. "Dameon Phoenix. It's a pleasure to meet you, miss."

Grey eyes light up slightly as Lydia returned... and smiled as she realized the ice was gone. And of course, she also scooted a bit closer to Lydia. Have to stick with him you know.

Her grey eyes then turn to Dameon, who apparently caught sight of her. She shakes his hand firmly, but gently. "A pleasure Dameon.. I'm Storm.. do you know my friend, Lydia?" Asks as she looks over at the green-haired elf, releasing his hand. They probably had already met, she told herself. But if not... well, a good deed for her then.

She turned to Lydia, lilac suited her very nicely. "Is Grem going to be joining us?" The question seemed appropriate to her, at least. Though she was close to Lydia, being the only person she knew.. other than Dameon, she kept her eyes on Erin and Jewell, just waiting for the right moment.

Lydia Loran

Date: 2007-02-09 21:14 EST
Pale eyes flicker to Dameon briefly, then back to Storm, smile on her face. Lydia knew him, though not well. She had met him... not during the best of circumstances. Smile faltered just a touch at the latter question before she shrugged faintly.

"I'm not entirely sure. He had to work today." A pause, to lift now ice less water to her lips for a sip. "Holidays seem to be a pretty busy time for him." Though she didn't know if he'd make it.. a girl could hope! She took a moment to look over Storm's dress. Very pretty! It was giving her ideas for designs already.. but no. No no. No working. No thinking of work. Not today at least...

She sipped at her water again, glancing between Dameon and Storm, and sneaking a peek at Jewell and Erin on occasion.

"How have you been lately Storm? Anything new going on with you?"

JewellRavenlock

Date: 2007-02-10 10:17 EST
Jewell laughed appropriately as she was ushered inside, "Nonsense, E, you look lovely as always." She pressed a kiss to her friend's cheek for emphasis and perhaps to show her that she was sincere.

"Thanks for having me over, I really did need to get out of the house and dress up nicely--it's been too long! The whole world looks brighter when you look pretty."

She moved further inside, both to greet people and to get away from the door in order to let her limbs warm up. She flashed a bright smile seeing Lydia and Storm, waving to them both, "Afternoon ladies."

Ah--and Dameon too! His presence was unexpected but not at all unpleasant; "A round of whiskey? I'll never turn a good looking man down for a drink, we'll have to set a date for that." Though it would not be 'a date' she quickly reassured herself mentally, her smile never faltering.

She took the initiative to step over to Storm, hand outstretched. She did not get through years of political and social functions by being shy, "Storm, right? We've crossed paths and seen each other hundreds of times but I don't believe we've been formally introduced. I'm Jewell Ravenlock."

She had been near to Storm before in the Inn, but here, with very few people around, her elemental 'scent' was more noticeable. She commented upon it softly to Storm, "And you smell delightfully like the wind."

Erin laughed, hugging Jewell lightly as she kissed her. Closing the door gently, she trained into the room and went back to the drink cart. It was useless to keep asking, things were too busy at the moment, so she just started pouring. An ice water was poured for Storm, and coffee for Jewell each placed on a tray and then quickly delivered. She wasn't sure what Dameon would want, it was midday and all, but she figured he's speak up.

The doorbell rang once more, and Erin did another excuse me nod and went to answer it. Pulling the door open there stood Rita, holding Christina. "Oh! Rita, put her down, you'll hurt yourself!" Erin giggled a little as she ushered the two in.

"Nonsense, Erin, really, I can walk a block with her." The older woman had curly white hair that hugged her head and a pair of circular wire-rimmed glasses. She was wearing a pants suit, red of course. Once she crossed the threshold she put Christina down. The little girl bolted for Erin, attaching herself to Erin's leg. "I'm actually just dropping her off. She had her heart set on coming, and I have to run into work and get some things done. I thought I finished all the orders last night, but a florist's work is never done. And, well, walk ins."

Erin laughed as she scooped up Christina, who was wearing a wonderful white and red party dress. "Don't worry about it, Rita, I was surprised you were off anyway. I'll take good care of her. " Rita laughed, leaning in to press a kiss to Tina's cheek and departed with a muted thank you to Erin.

Next stop, the drawing room. Erin, that five year old in tow, reappeared. "Look everyone, we have a guest. I'd like you all to meet Christina. She's going to be joining us today." An easy smile as she walked over to the cart pouring the girl an apple juice.

Dameon smiled politely to Storm as they shook hands. "Yes, I know Lydia somewhat. She played nurse for me one evening at the bar, although not exactly in the way I normally prefer." He laughed a bit, turning his attention back to Jewell.

"Yes, we will definetely have to arrange it. Although I wasn't aware that agood looking man 'ad asked you. I must not 'ave heard that." He smirked a little, feigning modesty, and looked over at Erin.

"Oh, and while you're at it could I possibly get something in the way of iced tea? I think I'll wait a little bit on the alchohol." Dameon waiting for alchohol? This was certainly a change of pace for someone who normally starts the morning with a whiskey on the rocks or a Midori sour. Nevertheless, his request was made with utmost sincerity.

Storm Divine

A soft smile at Dameon at the end of the introduction. Grey eyes then flick to Lydia, at the explanation of Grem's absence. Well, Storm was going to be more than happy to keep company. A faint nodd of understandment. Must be rough, to always be busy during these 'holidays' which she never could remember.

Alas, water! A grateful smile to Erin as she takes a healthy drink of water. "I am doing.. alright. There are many things that seem to happen at once, you know?" Her voice was soft and quiet while Erin was greeting Jewell. "Hopefully I will have time to talk to you and Erin.. at a more appropriate time. I need... advice." Female advice of course.. but there was no need to insert that right now.

A warm smile as Jewell approached her. She shook her hand firmly, but not as firm as a mans. That would be.. awkward. "Yes, unfortunately we have never seem to get the chance to offically meet. It's a pleasure Jewell, your dress is quite lovely." Sincere and honest words as she released Jewell's hand. She wasn't deaf, she caught many many conversations about this one, but since when was Storm to pounce upon such things? So, nothing but warm smiles all around, excited for meeting such an array of new faces. She then chuckled at the wind comment. "Oh, thank you. I never was the one to pick up on scents. I hear instead, and you have the sound of a beach's end." The soft, crashing rolls of water against the sand. A very pleasant sound indeed.

She was able to just get one more sip of water in, before she looked at the little girl in Erin's hand. A unknown soft spot, the Elemental smiled for the little girl, and offered a friendly wave. "Well hello there Christina." More smiles around.

Lydia canted her head a little, brows lifted just a touch in confusion to Dameon's statement. Naivety was definitely a word that could be used to describe the green haired elf. "The way you'd.. prefer? What other way is there to..." She trailed off a bit, a little more confused by the questioning. "..play nurse?"

A blink then, before she looked towards Storm, a little bit of a smile forming, then a nod to her words. "Of course." Her own voice lowered as well. "There's always time for you Storm. Anything you need to say or ask about, we're here." A firm nod along with her words. Storm was there for her and Erin whenever they needed her, so she was more than willing to return the favor.

Water was lifted for yet another sip as Jewell approached. Another smile was offered to her but she fell silent when she and Storm were exchanging words. No need to interrupt and all, especially if they were just now meeting! Her gaze roamed over towards little Tina then she waggled her fingers to her. She regarded her and Erin for a moment, taking note of how happy the two seemed together. Particularly Erin.

Cassandra

Date: 2007-02-11 01:24 EST
Well, better late than never, right? Cassie was a bit late as she hurried up the walk to the Manor, and paused at the door to twitch some fabric on her dress into place. A hand lifted to knock, and she took a step back to await entrance, bouncing her toes a bit to try and keep the fingers of cold away.

Sure, everyone wore red and pink on Valentine's Day. Except Cassie. She was wearing an off the shoulder, knee-length black dress. The one concession was the bright red strip of fabric that belted the dress in at her waist. Low heels kept it fairly casual, and she'd left her hair down to fall around her shoulders in its usual unruly curls. A long black winter coat kept some of the cold out, but it was impossible to block it all. She also had a bottle of champagne in hand.

When the door opened, she grinned and skipped forward, happy to get out of the cold. "Hey! It's bloody cold outside! I hope there's something warm to drink!" She was chuckling as she shrugged out of the jacket and hung it up with the rest. "Champagne?" Holding out the bottle with a grin.

King Gavilean of Westridge put on his deep burgundy doublet over the white poet?s shirt, then pulled on the deep gray pants and shinned black boots. He looked to Des as he worked the fasteners on the doublet. "Sweetheart, do you think this looks alright for the Valentine Luncheon? This doublet is as close to Valentine red as I think I want to get. I don't want to look like a strawberry with long hair."

His wife glanced up from adjusting the fall of matching velvet burgundy skirts. Tera chuckled warmly while navy blue eyes that twinkled merrily drifted over him from the tips of those boots to the top of his head, then lowered to capture his cobalt blue gaze. "Babe it would take more than a red doublet to make ya look like a strawberry, although I wouldn't mind takin' a little nibble of ya I will admit; however, then we would be late for this here party that we were invited to, and since we are running a bit late already I do believe ya look very handsome just as ya are in that color." She smiled charmingly to her sexy husband as she picked up the cloak that matched her gown along with the gloves, and moved toward him.

Gav laughed and grabbed his cloak to put over the doublet. It had a single clasp at the neck and would serve quite well to keep him warm for the short journey. He moved to Des and nibbled on her neck, "This strawberry thinks you're just peachy." He winked and went to the table by the door. "Can't forget the most important items - the boxes of Westridge Dark Chocolates to hand out."

She shivered at the nibbles and rubbed her cheek to her shoulder trying to ease the tingling sensations while laughing with delight. "Definitely can't forget the chocolate, Babe. Did ya remember to RSVP for us or are we unexpected, because I sure enough forgot to reply in the madness that has been this past week or more?" Her cloak was swung over her shoulders and clasped, and then gloves were tugged on to keep her hands warm as she too crossed to the door.

"Oh, I told Erin that we'd be there, so I don't think they'll be surprised. Let's go before I eat all this chocolate myself and show up with empty chocolate-smelling boxes. I think that would be a crime demanding the ultimate punishment!" He laughed and headed out of the room with Des. It would not take long to get from their Ryh'Din mansion to the West End.

She was smiling as she slid her arm through his and strolled out into the chill of the day with him. "I can't wait to see who all is gonna be there. We haven't been to a party like this since we went to Brian and Jenai's winter one, and I had such a good time there. You remember that, Babe?"

"Remember it? I sure do. I'd have to be unconscious to forget a single moment of my life with you, my love." Their carriage was waiting for them and he helped Des inside and shut the door quickly behind them both. "I suppose we can't stay too long since we need to get back to Gwenilb?th, but I'm sure going to enjoy this break for a date together."

Fast as could be, she scooted across to make room, then scooted right back up to snuggle with him as they got situated together in the warmed carriage. This was one of the things Des had to admit she adored about having servants. Bricks had been placed in the carriage earlier to warm the inside for them so that instead of getting into a cold, unwelcoming vehicle like most would have had to, they were entering into toasty warmth for the trip to the luncheon. "A date with most handsome man in RhyDin. I think I might be persuaded to do that. Although I should probably warn ya right now it has been a while since I have been on a date, so my behavior may not be quite as good as some other woman ya could ask out." She slanted a grin up to the man that she loved most in the world.

He tossed his head back and laughed, "That's just the kind of date I was hoping for, baby. I'm a lucky man to be with the most misbehaved, beautiful woman in the land. I could get used to this." He put his arm around her and cuddled until they reached Isis Manor. Once there he helped Des out of the coach and grabbed the boxes of chocolates.

Des carefully stepped from the carriage with her beloved husband's assistance, then smoothed her skirts beneath her cloak, then straightened her cloak before at last glancing to Gav. She gave him a regal nod with twinkling navy blue eyes and a charming grin as she extended her hand in an imperious demand that he offer her his arm.

He offered his arm and they walked up to the door and were welcomed inside. ?Erin, happy Valentine?s! Hi Jewell! Cass, I?ll volunteer for some of that champagne.? He gave her a wink and looked about as he helped Des with her cloak and then unclasped his own cloak.

?Lydia! Storm! Wow?we must have all the pretty girls in one place! Hi Dameon! Anyone want to help me unload all these big boxes of Westridge chocolates from my arms??

Erin had let Tina open the door for Gav, Des and Cassie. The little girl letting them in with bouncing curls and a nice, loud, "Happy Valentines day!" The girl then turned to run back into the drawing room, yelling as she went. "Erin, Erin! There's a tall purple haired girl and a couple that look... like a fairy tale!" And she bounced again, still grinning.

Scooping up Tina, Erin chuckled as she came into the hall. "Someone say Champagne?" A bright smile as she met Cassie, hand out for the bottle. "Here, let me open it." Tina squirmed in the one armed grasp, trying to get down. After a moment or so, Erin let her down to explore.

"You can put those on the table, Gavilean! Thank you so much." A bright smile and a nod of her head. Tina, on the other hand, spotted those chocolates and was right at the base of Gav's legs. Hopping.

"Is that chocolate? Can I have some? Pretty please? Just a little..." The little girl was just about to start tugging on his pant leg, in fact. Erin contemplated scooping her up, but figured the new parents could use the practice with a chocolate starved little girl.

"So, perhaps it's time we ate? It's all set up in the dining room, buffet style. I figured that way people could spread out, talk, and we wouldn't have the problem of only getting to talk to one person at the long table..." Yeah, Erin was rambling, but she was nervous! This was her first dinner party since arriving in Rhydin.... even if it were just lunch.

Gav looked over at Des and winked. There was no way he could resist the pleading eyes of a little girl. Gwenilbeth was surely going to have him wrapped around her little finger.

He put his finger to his lips and smiled at Tina, then gave her a look as if they were on a very secret chocolate mission. "Don't let anyone else see," he whispered as he bent down on one knee. Tina, as would any little girl, loved the idea of having a special chocolate secret. Her head nodded and her eyes lit up.

"This is our little secret," Gav whispered.

Tina made a "zip of the lips" sign with her fingers.

Gav opened one of the boxes of dark chocolates (not the brandy filled ones), and held it out to Tina. "You better take three," he whispered softly, "just in case, for you never know when a piece of chocolate will come in handy."

Tina's hand went over the chocolates as she decided which were the very best to select. It was obviously a difficult decision for a little girl. After she made a selection she gave him a "thank you hug" and went skipping off.

Gav put his arm around his precious Des and winked, then looked at Erin. "Erin, everything looks wonderful; and you sure don't have to invite Des and I twice to a buffet table." They moved into the dining room, happy to be with such friends.

Des smiled warmly to the little girl that opened the door for them. ?Hello and Happy Valentines day to you too!? What a wonderful way to be greeted to the Luncheon she thought to herself by a bouncy adorable child that had her spirits lifting and smile sincere from the first moment of arrival. She chuckled at the wink well knowing that Gav could never resist giving the little girl some chocolate when asked with that look being given to him.

She took her gloves off and placed them with their cloaks while he did the honors with the box of chocolates then an arm slid naturally into place around his waist as they moved in to join the rest of the guests. A smile lit up as she took note of everyone else that was already here. ?Howdy Cassie! Storm! Daemon! Lydia! Keg Sister! Cricket! Erin, ya have a lovely home and everything looks delicious. Thank ya so much for invitin? us!?

Cassandra

Cassie laughed at the descriptions yelled out to Erin by the little girl and handed the bottle off to Erin. "Goodness! She seems to be quite a happy handful!" Watching as the child immediately and effortlessly wrapped Gav around her little finger. Cassie didn't blame her, that was some good looking chocolate! She'd definitely get a box before leaving! Smiles and greetings were given all around for everyone she saw. Valentine's Day wasn't really Cassie's thing, but she did enjoy getting together with good company for good food.

She paused to give Erin a quick hug after she rambled on, to reassure her."Everything looks and smells wonderful, you've done a fantastic job! Now you need to eat and enjoy the company!"

Then she was making a bee line for the buffet! A plate was grabbed and stacked high with food. Good thing that dress had a little extra room, because Cassie wasn't leaving until she'd tried a little bit of everything! Once her plate was filled, she found herself a spot to sit and began to inhale the food. She did pause to join in the chatter and conversation, and even manage to swallow the food before opening her mouth to speak. She did have some table mannersafter all!

Dameon politely made his way to the buffet setup, taking a palce quietly and scanning over the offerings. This was the first time he was meeting a lot of these people, and he hadn't been in RhyDin for so long, it was nerve-wracking to attempt a good first impression. Boisterous fun in the bar was one thing, but this was a social event. Something he had little to no experience with.

Nevertheless, he put a generous portion of food onto his plate, but not enough to make himself look gluttenous, even though the well-built young man had always been known for being able to pack away more food than his lean exterior gave away. Perhaps it was a high metabolism?

He found a chair off to he side, sitting politely with one leg crossed over the other, quietly eating his first helping, watching the rest of the party-goers mingle. It was in this second that, only knowing two people in this group, he began to feel slightly out of place.

Attention started to shift and divide as more people showed up. At least they were familiar faces. Lydia smiled and nodded to the new arrivals. Cassie, Gav, Des... For a while she just stepped back and fell quiet, watching and observing the others. At Erin's announcement of food and since everyone else was moving to the dining room to the buffet she followed along.

After the crowd had cleared back from the setup, she picked up a stick of garlic bread and nibbled on it a bit, letting pale blues roam once again. Wallflowers never did do good during social occasions did they? Why did this have to feel so different than the inn... Another nibble of bread, a shuffle of feet, then she ventured over towards an empty spot near the wall, not too far from Dameon.

Erinalle Dunbridge

Erin waited another few moments and when it seemed that the door had stopped she ushered Tina into the dining room with her. Filling two plates was easy, holding them... not so much. Tina got less than Erin, of course, and so she balanced her plate on the edge of Tina's, pressing them both against her body. A smile and a nod to Lydia and she took up a seat close to where she was standing, across from Dameon. It took her a moment to get Tina in a chair and calm enough(after all that chocolate!) to hold a fork.

Once that was done, Erin looked at her plate. That would wait a moment! It was time to ease some of the social tension... "So, Lydia, Dameon, can I get you anything else? Are you doing okay?" She raised a brow looking at the two. "Do you know Cassie, Dameon?" a gesture to the lavender haired girl a ways down the table. "She's my cousin, and quite nice, actually..." Yeah, she was getting better at this introductions thing.

Tina leaned forward so that she was looking past Erin. "So, Lydia, did you get a pair of the pretty handcuffs? Cause they were really neat... I can't wait to go back to the store. That was a really neat shade of blue. Your friends are super neat. Carley looks like me! But she's taller... and..." the girl stops to think, "Older looking. Yeah. But I liked her. And Eddie was really cool, too! he gave me a piggy back ride. I want another one! And Erin took me to get one of his drinks the other day... that was so great because they were really yummy! A bit cold for the cold, but it's never too cold for something that yummy, don't you think?" and she doesn't pause for an answer. "The marketplace is great! Erin said you have lots of friends there.. you even know dwarves! And gnomes! I've never met one of those... I never met an elf either until you. Oh! And Carley! I wish I had ears like yours, because they're pretty... and your eyes are super cool! I wish mine were blue like that... I mean, mine are blue, but not that blue.. I like blue eyes.. and you don't have any of that icky black to muck them up. I hate black, it's my least favorite color.. it's so dark and icky. I hate black. But I love pink! And red! See my dress! Mommy got it for me when she told me I could come here and... yours is pretty too! Purple is great! Did you know if you mix red and uh...uh....blue! you get purple. It's neat. I've done it with paint before..." And suddenly Tina was distracted by her plate. Her fork was shoved in her mouth. Good thing for Lydia or she may have had to listen all day.

She was mostly staying around Lydia, since that was the best person she knew. Not that she minded, meeting the other people was fantastic. The woman in the purple hair.. she made a mental note to meet. But her eyes lit up at the sight of the next newcomers. "Gav.. Des!" It had been a long time since she had seen either.. and she just had to make time to see the baby sooner or later. Speaking of children... she watched as little Tina begged for chocolate.. and Gav giving in. She had to hide her laughter behind a drink. Then at Tina's next words.. she started to choke on her water, laughing and coughing at the same time. She would wave any concerned faces away, she just had to catch her breath back.

And then everyone was making a beeline for the food. She followed the crowd, happily being next to last as she filled her plate. It was a decent size, considering her metabolism.. it would only be a few more hours before becoming hungry again. So she sat, somewhere between Lydia and the rest of the crowd. mindful of all conversations around her, adding her input when needed. Another sip of her water, before her attention turned to Lydia, taking note of her quietness. Storm wasn't a wallflower.. but she wasn't exactly outspoken either. "So Lydia, how are you doing?" It was rare for her now, to catch moments with Lydia in the Inn. The only time she really sees her is when she is helping with the new shop.. which she loved.

Dameon looked up at Erin, finishing swallowing the food that was in his mouth before speaking. "No, this is only the first time we've met. She seems nice, though." He nodded politely, adding a smile. "Although, you should be careful introducing me to these ladies. While I'm still officially single, there is this one girl that might get jealous... but nothing's set in stone, so I'm not too worried." He flashed a confident smirk.

He then looked over at Lydia, smiling at her. "And y'know... you and I should become more acquainted. I mean, I already consider you a friend of mine, but I wouldn't mind getting to know you a little better. I mean, after all, you are the woman who jumped up to action to try and save my life the first night we met." He laughed a bit. He wasn't about to let her shortchange herself for her involvement in his time of need. She may have thought she didn't bring much to the table that night, but in Dameon's eyes her effort was more than enough to cement her into his heart.

Lydia Loran

Date: 2007-02-12 03:24 EST
Lydia offered a smile to her sister's inquiry. "No, I'm fine Erin, thanks." Another bite of the garlic bread was taken, then brows lifted to little Tina as she looked her way.

She nearly choked at the first statement. Handcuffs? Oh gods, they matched those furry panties, and... gods. The thoughts in her head! The water in her other hand was lifted to her lips for a bit of a sip to keep from choking on bread. Gaze flickered away from Tina for a brief instant and towards Storm. She was coughing after all, Lydia just wanted to make sure she was okay. Seeing all was.. well, she turned back towards Tina, blinking a little, opening her mouth to address something spoken, but never got the chance to speak because Tina started back again...

Finally, the little girl quieted down.

Lydia just.. smiled at her. She was a very sweet and honest girl really.. spoke her mind just like most children do, and the fact she wasn't put off by the green hair, the eerie blue eyes, the pointed ears.. it was nice. She really has scared children before, not the best feeling in the world. She'd speak to Tina, but she was busy now, and it'd be best not to get her riled up again, right?

Sooo, the lilac clad elf turned her attention towards Storm. Both Tina's outgoingness and Storm's presence had helped put her a bit more at ease. "I'm doing great." A hint of grin flashed. "The store's coming along nicely.. but you'd know that, wouldn't you?" Pausing to nibble at her bread a little more. Really, all this great food and she eats bread. Tsktsk.

"It shouldn't be much longer at all before it's ready. Really, after the paint dries, I think all we need to do is relocate all our stuff to the store. When we get things up and running.. it'd be great to have you around."

Another pause, before she leans a little closer, necklace around her neck shifting a bit with her movement. Voice was also a bit lower and softer as she spoke. "You mentioned needing advice earlier? Nothing's wrong..right?" Brows furrowed a bit in concern, because it was true, they didn't get the chance to talk much lately. They worked on the shop, yeah, but as far as anything serious...

...then Dameon caught her attention. She leaned back from Storm, shifting pale blues his way. Did he just..? No, she's misinterpreting, right? Just taking it the wrong way.. but...

"Oh. Ah..." Think Lydia, think! "I have a boyfriend." Blink. God. That just bubbled on out. "I mean..." Oh God. "Anyone would have done that you know.. well.. they should at least, if someone's hurt and needs help." Glance to Erin, glance to Storm, glance to Dameon. "I consider you a friend too.. and I have no problem with us being friends, yeah?" Smilesmile.

Friends though, nothing more.

But it'd be her luck she'd be taking this the wrong way anyways.

Social faux pas! Gods... just what she needs.

A rather large bite was then taken of the bread stick, a substitute for the 'foot in mouth' really.

And finally, quite late, Alain arrives. The young detective feels he ought to be uncomfortable with his friend Erin's stately manor... but oddly, it sets him at ease, reminding him of the comfortable home he was alienated from in his youth. He is bundled up in his black wool overcoat, a grey scarf, khakis, and a decent pair of dress-casual brown leather shoes. Hopefully his blaster won't be too visible in a shoulder holster beneath his white Oxford - he came here straight from some casework.

He shifts a little on his feet and looks side to side as he waits, and a thin layer of snow accumulates on his shoulders. A fist raised to cough into it. After a couple of weeks, the effects of the cold are still lingering.

The door! Again! Erin left her plate and the still occupied Tina to head back through the hall, pulling the door open. A bright smile as it's Alain there on the other side. "You made it!" She clapped her hands as she moved out of the way to let him in. "Come in, come in, you can hang your coat there on the rack... Everyone is in the dining room eating, can I get you a drink?" She smiled easily, smoothing the dress over her hips.

Once he was in, she shut the door behind him. "Go, get some food, have a seat and I'll get your drink." Erin was excitable, and was pleased with the outcome of her little party. It was hard not to be proud, glowing even at the unsuspecting Alain. He was one of her best friends and her desire to ramble and ramble to him (just because he was there) about how she could still throw a party and how things were going so well was suppressed into the bounciness he saw. Her heels clicking away towards the drink cart before he had even answered her...

Gavilean

Date: 2007-02-12 16:13 EST
Gavilean was never one to be shy, and that wasn?t always a good thing. In the old days in the RDI, when his father was still alive, the ladies had nicknamed him ?The Prince of Romance.? It was quite apropos at the time and especially on Valentine?s Day, but it has long since become an embarrassment whenever it would occasionally be brought up. Now he couldn?t be more happily married and in love with his Des, but the social behavior never stopped being part of what made him ?Gav?.

He actually stepped out of the 'food line' just to walk over to where Dameon, Lydia, Storm and Cass were sitting, and he jumped right into the conversation.

?Lydia, you actually saved Dameon? Whoa, you go girl!? He grinned and hoped to quickly diffuse the embarrassment he thought he detected in her expression. ?You?re right, people should help, but not many do, so you?re a good one to have around.?

He looked to Dameon. ?We?ve not officially met, but I?m Gav, and I?ve seen you a time or two at the Inn. We?re going to have to get a chance to talk about ?guy things? since we?re the only guys here and pretty nicely outnumbered. Of course, who?s complaining, right??

He saw Tina coming with her food and he went and grabbed two forks, two toothpicks, and the salt shaker. He then sat down and motioned for Tina to sit on his knee as she ate her food. ?Want to see something cool, Tina. I bet you that I can balance both of these forks at the same time on the head of this toothpick ? and without using magic. Think I can do that??

?Nuh uh,? she said with a giggle.

?I?ll show you.? He took the forks and stuck their tines together to make a ?V? out of them. Then he took on toothpick and stuck it into the middle tines so that the other end was in the middle of the ?V?. Of course, the weight of the fork handles made the center of gravity beyond the tip of that toothpick. He stuck the other toothpick straight up into the central hole of the salt shaker and then carefully set the tip of the first toothpick in the forks onto the tip of the toothpick sticking out of the salt shaker ? and sure enough, the forks balanced and slowly rotated on the tip of the toothpick.

Tina giggled delightely and asked, ?How did you do that??

?It?s a trick, Tina. You learn to do this and then you can do what I do. You go to a restaurant and bet the server the price of the dinner that you can balance two forks on the tip of a toothpick. You never pay that way.? He tried to hide his smile, and gave Erin a wink. Then he looked to Des with a sheepish grin because he knew that he was being a ?bad influence?. He shrugged and put on a very innocent look, ?I was just joking.? He then leaned close to Tina and whispered in her ear, ?Try it.?

At that point they heard someone at the door. He turned and saw Alain D?Mourir coming into the room. He sat Tina down on his chair and went up to Alain, ?Hello, Alain. Good to see you again. Dameon and I needed another male representative.?

She continued to carry on her conversation with Lydia before they were interrupted. "I would love to help out more with your store. I cannot make much... though Erin has a teapot I made for her somewhere around here. I am willing to do whatever it is you need... I find it very exciting." She manages to get a bite in between, or a drink here or there. At the mentioning of the advice... it was only the smallest dot on her wonderful day. Hardly enough to upset her, she wouldn't let it.

Her voice was soft, even though for now they were left in peace. "Well, nothing is endangering me.." Well... maybe that was a little white lie... but what she needed advice on, wasn't. "I was.. courting a man, many months ago. I will admit now, at the time, the relationship was not exactly.. healthy. But, that's not the point. He left middle of November, without a word. He as shown up again as of a week ago." Small sigh. "He... wants to continue where we left off.. said he realized he had made a mistake. Though.. I cannot bring back feelings that I do not have anymore.. besides.." She was so close to saying it.. but she couldn't. Wouldn't "I do not think..." Whatever she was going to say, was lost as Dameon unceremoniously joined them

But, then they were saved by Gav, and she grinned. He was very good with children.. she had no doubt he would be a wonderful father, well... he was, she supposed. It was now, that she took the time to glance around. Erin was still busy being host.. which was fine. The new addition caught her eyes though. Another one she needed to meet.

Des was smiling as she filled a plate and got herself a drink then took a seat in the midst of the group. She wasn?t a bit shy nor was she feeling the least bit out of place as she was used to being at parties now of one kind or another. The best part though was at this party she was able to just relax and be nothing more than herself. She didn?t have to put on any airs or social masks as this was RhyDin and these people all knew her from the Inn.

That didn?t mean she wasn?t using her manners though as she was most certainly being polite and not stuffing her food into her mouth like a barbarian but rather eating like a lady would using her fork with her other hand resting in her lap on her napkin. Her gaze passed inquisitively from person to person as they spoke and she listened while she finished off the delicious food that had been provided by their hostess.

A brow arched as she watched Gav and his trick with Tina but she had to chuckle quietly. She then looked over to Storm and Lydia and saw that they were visiting so her gaze moved on to Cassie who seemed to be quiet at the moment. ?Hey Cassie. How are things goin? with you these days??

Des smiled over to Daemon just before she heard the door and spotted the newest arrival. ?Howdy Alain! Fancy meetin? you here.?

She gave her head a shake in response to Erin's questions, and went ahead and finishing chewing and swallowing the bite she already had when Erin introduced them. "Uh uh, I haven't met Dameon yet. It's nice to meet you, Dameon." Smilesmile. Food!

She wasn't trying to be anti-social. There were just so many people and her attention was bouncing back and forth between everyone, and she was inhaling bite after bite of food as well. So she was content to let everyone else around her chatter. She looked up as Alain arrived, smiled briefly, and then went back to munching and listening.

She looked up again as Des called her name and she smiled. "Things have been going pretty well for me these days. I've gone into business with that bum over there," nodding her head towards Alain with a grin, "and it's doing well. I certainly can't complain. How is the little one? She'll have Gav around her little finger in no time, I'm sure."

Smiles all around as a still very chilly Alain makes his way into the dining room, still a touch confused as he wasn't able to get a word in edgewise with Erin. A nod to Tera, a grin at Cassandra, and he looks at Gavilean as he pulls up a chair nearby. "Now what kind of guy asks for more males at a party? Not that Rhy'Din has many to offer to begin with..." He sheds his damp jacket and scarf, draping them over the back of his chair, and helps himself to whatever food is within reach. After a long day of work, he's starving. Blue eyes flicker over Storm. He's seen her at the Inn before.

JewellRavenlock

After smiling, and even blushing faintly, at Storm's compliment regarding what she sounded like, Jewell allowed herself to fade into the background of the party a little. It wasn't her usual place--The Empress usually enjoyed being front and center--but she was more comfortable there at the moment.

She greeted all the other party-goers, each familiar to her, with a smile and wave as they came in: Des and Gav, Cassandra, and Alain. She smiled to the little girl, Tina, as well but kept her distance; she spent enough time around rambunctious five year olds on a daily basis.

She took a fair amount of food onto her plate, taking a seat at the table. After eating a few bites, sampling everything that didn't contain meat, she was content to make it look like she was eating the rest while she just listened to the conversation around her.

"Is your business going well?" Directing her question and eyes to Cass and then to Alain.

Cassandra

Attention shifted to Jewell, but Cassie had to finish the bite she'd just stuffed past her lips, so it was a few moments before she answered. Eyes flicked over to Alain for a moment as well, then she turned back to Jewell with a smile. "It's going well, actually. It's like any starting business, we're still working on building our reputation. But there's been more business than I had expected for a business still so close to infancy." Another glance to Alain, quiet so that he could add anything to that if he wanted to. She'd been enthusiastic, but was trying not to bore everyone with business talk.

"So how are all the monsters doing, not burning the house down, I hope. They were pretty adamant that I not burn it down when cooking dinner." Grinning some at Jewell. She really had enjoyed the kids' company. They were refreshing sometimes after spending time having to watch nearly every word that fell out of your mouth for fear of offending.

Erin swished back into the room with a vodka for Alain. Nevermind where she had that bottle hidden! A smile as she handed it off, doing a quick check on the eating Tina, who was happily playing with forks and toothpicks? Erin shook her head and smiled, eyes running over the gathered. "If anyone needs anything, don't hesitate to ask."

She retakes her seat by Lydia and Storm, lifting her fork. A bite, and then another bite. She turns to the other two girls finally. "So, what's the topic with my favorite ladies?"

He looks from Jewell to Cassie, nodding some while she speaks... and looks back at Jewell. "I thought it would be a good month before we got any good contracts, but we've been getting them steadily after a dry first week. It's just a great city for about any kind of business." He lapses into silence as Cassie speaks again and helps himself to some tea, listening to the conversations for a moment. Feeling a little awkward at a function like this, but not showing it too badly.

He had to laugh when Alain responded, "Now what kind of guy asks for more males at a party? Not that Rhy'Din has many to offer to begin with..."

"I can't believe I said that myself! All I can say is I just must be the kind of guy who is so deeply in love with my Valentine here. . ." he looked to Des, "that the advantage of being in the gender minority is now totally lost on me."

With that he stood up and moved behind Des placed his hands on her shoulders and gave her a kiss on the cheek as she was eating.

"Now, let me at the food!"

He grabbed a plate and soon had it piled high with the delicioius food, then he sat next to Des, gave her a wink and started eating.

The green haired elf offered a sheepish smile to Gav, thankful for the distraction honestly. Faintest of nods before she turned her attention back to Storm. The smile she held faded a little at her words, pale eyes dropping for a moment before lifting to find the other's grey.

"Don't... feel guilted or that you should be feeling a certain way. You feel what you feel.. or.. you don't feel. You just need to be honest with yourself and this man." A faint nod. "You can't be expected to stop living when he disappears, and you can't just... cater to him when he decides returning is convenient for him." Voice a touch firm.

When Erin joined her and Storm, she offered her sister a faint smile, and took another bite of her bread, finishing it off. Pale blues turn to Storm, brows lifting faintly, almost questioningly. It was up to her whether she wanted to continue speaking of such things with the added company.

"Mm." He bites back laughter, not wanting to seem rude, and buries his grin in another sip of his tea. What he would like to say is, I wouldn't know what that's like... but he resists. Curious gaze continues to travel around the room as he eats... pausing on Dameon. He wants to say he's new to the area, though he's not sure, and yet seems to be quickly making friends with his friends. So he offers a hand his way, along with a smile: "I don't think we've met before... I'm Alain."
