An imposing figure walks along the street, the quintessential businessman, perfectly dressed, a walking cane in his hand, avoiding direct sunlight where he can, and looking up at the sign of The Oracle headquarters. As he looked up at the sign, Talomar didn't see who was coming out of the door.

Des had just received a letter that one of the servant type people at her and her beloved husband's new mansion had forwarded to her at The Oracle office building since they knew she wouldn't be coming home until very late that night. As she read it her eyes got wide and then became like saucers. A gasp escaped when she got to the end and she looked around quickly as though someone might be reading over her shoulder while tearing it up and throwing the tiny pieces in the trash.

The cowgirl Queen jumped to her feet without hesitation and headed for the front door at a run. She was on a mission of mercy that couldn't wait as the letter was about a dear friend of hers that needed to be given a message and quickly if what the letter said held any value at all.

Slamming through the front door of the building she ran right into what could have been a brickwall with a loud "oommpphhh." The breath rushing out of her lungs as she looked to see what she had hit.

The Count looked down at the lady who had just exited the building he had fully intended to enter. He recognized her immediately. "Tera Starfare! Well, its good to see the Oracle's reporters so in a hurry to get to the scene of late breaking news."

A little dazed by the force of impact she shook her head and stepped back from him so she could look up to his face while making a grab for one of his arms without heed to any proper manners that she had been taught. "Oh no I ain't heading out for any story Darlin'. I was looking for your wife at the moment but you will do I'm thinkin'. We gotta talk. In private if ya don't mind Darlin'."

Des was already scanning their surroundings for somewhere they could go where they wouldn't be overheard and where she herself hadn't planted any of her very own tiny recording devices because this was something that was not for public consumption.

He raised a brow, rather surprised that she would have something for him that had to be said in private. He looked up at the roof of the building across from Oracle. It had a water tower on top of it and would provide the privacy and some shade. Talomar smiled at Des. "I think I can accommodate us rather nicely."

Before she knew what he intended, he wrapped an arm around her and lept upwards. The Vampire Lord carried her firmly at his side until they settled on the roof in the shade of the old wooden water tower. "How is this? Private enough?"

Des squeaked and slammed her eyes shut as she clung to his waist with both arms wrapped tightly around it. "Eeep! You are gonna kill me! I just know it Talomar Longden! Don't ya dare drop me! I'm gonna tell my husband on ya and you are gonna so be in such bad trouble that ya ain't never gonna get out of it! But I do have news for ya that is important."

She ran out of breath finally in her tirade and calmed some as her feet touched back down but didn't let go as she hated heights with a passion.

He smiled down at her. "There. Safe and sound, Des. No need to get your husband after me; I haven't dropped anyone yet." He thought for a moment, "That is, unless it was on purpose. Now, what do you have to tell me?"

Her eyes stayed closed and she shivered slightly there on the rooftop but was determined to deliver the message since it was a life and death kind of thing. "Well I got this here letter from a mutual friend and they wanted me to tell your wife this here message but I can't tell ya who the friend is. That was also in the message but I think that ya really better take this to heart Darlin'."

Listens, his expression stern and impatient. "What is it, Des?"

"I have to send it to ya in a thought cause I don't want anyone to be hearing me sayin' it outloud to ya either." Des opened her eyes just a tiny little bit, barely enough to peek up to him.

He looked down into her squinted eyes, >>Go on.<<

>> (Edited for SL preservation) That is all the letter said. I don't know anything else. I hope you can make sense of that and please watch over my good friend Tara for me Darlin'. I don't want anything to happen to her. << The cowgirl Queen shut her eyes completely again before vertigo could claim her and smiled hopefuly to the Count as she immediately felt relieved to have passed on the warning she had received.

He just nodded, absorbing what she had told him in their silent communication. >>Are you sure (Edited for SL preservation)?<<

Chestnut curls tumbled over her shoulders and down the sleek line of her back as she nodded to him. >> Yup. (Edited for SL preservation) and anyone that got in their way was going to get hurt too. So that is why I am taking all these precautions and stuff. I don't want them to catch wind of me warning you and all like this and think I am getting in their way. <<

It all made sense to him. >> Don't you worry, Des. No one will know that I've heard this from you. I'll take care of the situation. << He smiled at Des and put his hand on her shoulder, feeling those silky, curls. >> Thank you for your diligence in this. My dear wife and I are indebted to you. << He took her hand and led her to the wall at the end of the roof. "Ready?"

She couldn't help but drag her feet as she was lead toward the wall at the edge of the roof with a horrid look on her face even though her eyes were still closed. She moaned quietly then groaned and muttered and whimpered. "Oh lordy be just make it quick. I don't wanna die."

This time he actually picked her up into his arms. He lept to the wall, looked down to be sure there was no one beneath them, then jumped. The wind whistled by their ears as they approached the street at an amazing rate of speed. Dust sprang up from the road as his booted feet landed. Legs bent to absorb the shock, and he touched the road with the splayed fingers on one hand before standing up straight and setting Des down on her feet. "There. That wasn't too bad, was it?" He grinned at her.

The cowgirl Queen had relaxed the moment he picked her up into his arms that way. She was used to being carried like that. It was familiar and comfortable even though the arms and body were different. Her eyes had opened and she was smiling as he leapt to the street below with her safely cradled.

A grin curved into place as she unwrapped the arm that had instinctively gone around his neck when he picked her up from it's resting place while she hopped to her own two feet then looked to him. "I really do wish ya had just done that in the first place Darlin'. Ya could have saved me a whole lot of fear time up there on that there roof!" She winked sassily to the Count.

He laughed. He enjoyed her spunk. "I'll remember that for the next time. I was going to have a word or two with that Sharon Gossip person, but in light of what you've just told me I think I should attend to the matter at hand."

Des nodded to him with a little frown of concern returning. "I'm sorry to have added another burden Darlin'. I really should get back to writing up the challenge matches that took place last night myself. Which is what I was doing when I got that letter."

"Well, I appreciate your concern. Have a good afternoon and give your husband my regards." The Count tipped his head, turned and walked down the street, twirling the walking cane. Before long, he just disappeared.

?Take good care Darlin'! I'll tell him!? Des smiled warmly and waved then turned and headed back into the bustling newsroom ready to get back to work on the two articles that were awaiting her attention. She wanted to get them done as quickly as possible as she had another news article waiting for her attention after what she had heard while checking her numerous devices.
