Jean de La Fontaine came back to their beautiful new apartment near the end of the day and flung open the door. He was delighted to find Des there, for he had such good news to tell her. "Des! My love!!" he shouted out, shutting the door of the apartment behind him.

Des lept to her feet and ran through the bedroom to the living room. She had been sitting perched on the railing of the balcony and watching the people walk by since it was such a beautiful day. "Babe! I didn't expect you home so early!? she said while flinging herself into his arms with a smile, and then kissing him passionately while hugging him tightly.

He melted into the kiss and kissed her deeply. He loved Des so deeply and considered himself the most lucky man in all the world to be her husband and to have her as his wife. He'd do anything for her; even give his life a million times over. When the kiss ended he looked at her with a big smile upon his face, "I've got such good news, Des! I had to come right home to tell you."

"Tell me! Tell me Babe!" His excitement was fueling her own. A radiant smile broke free as she tipped her head back to catch his chestnut gaze with her navy blue one.

"Des, we are soon going to be rolling in money! Lately I have not feel good about pirating for I'll be the first to admit that while it might be glamorous and exciting, it's not the most honorable of professions. But...listen to this!" He was now walking about the living room like a man stepping on hot coals and had no motivation for slowing down. His arms and hands were expressive and his French accent was stronger than usual.

"Des! I have the legitimate business! The Adventure Fortune, it has been commissioned to carry a shipment of most valuable goods from Rhydin to St. Ive's Harbor. It's a seven-day journey and not more than that - of this I am most certain. We sail around the southern tip of Barrett's Bay and up the western coast, but in two weeks I will be back here with return cargo and enough wealth so that we'll be comfortable and can do all the shopping and remodeling we want. This is a good thing, yes?"

"Babe! That is wonderful news! I will miss you terrible but it is only for two weeks. I can wait that long I guess." She smiled softly to him as she watched him pacing back and forth so obviously excited. Des would miss him terribly and wished that she could go with him, but it would impossible to get off work from all three of her jobs.

She was just certain it was only fourteen days after all, but still she hated to be apart from him for even the short time during the days when their schedules were different but she could do this. Other couple were apart for longer periods of time than two weeks and she didn't want to look like a fool for making a fuss so she closed the distance between them and hugged him tightly again and smiled radiantly to him. "I'll have something special waiting for you when you get back Babe. When do you set sail?"

"We are even now in the process of loading the ship, and we are scheduled to sail the day after tomorrow." He put his hands upon her shoulders and looked into her eyes. "Mon cheri, I shall miss you so much being apart from you, but there is even more good news. If we are successful in this trade voyage, we will be given a one-year contract and I'll be able to put my first mate in charge. I'll stay here in Rhydin with you and handle the business matters, and I won't have to make the journeys. Just this once I need to go to be sure all goes well and to meet the people in St. Ives."

That was wonderful news! They would have a steady source of income and could even afford to buy a home instead of renting a place; at least it sounded like that. Her beloved French Pirate was looking out for their future and she loved him so very much for that as well as for everything else. Her heart was overflowing with happiness and joy. She laughed with delight, navy eyes sparkling merrily. "I can't wait for you to get back! No more trips and no more being apart!! We can get a house of our own and everything. Babe! Won't that be just great!!"

Jean laughed and picked up her into his arms, "Oui!!! Is magnifique! We shall have our own home and with rooms for children, yes?" He carried her out to the balcony and grabbed a box of wine coolers on the way. "We must make the celebration! Des, I'm so in love with you!"

Smiling lovingly to him, she wrapped her arms loosely around his neck and relaxed in his arms savoring the feeling of being surrounded by the safety of his embrace. "I love you whole bunches Jean, and I think a celebration is a great idea!"

He sat her down on the swinging divan he had made the day before down at the shipyard and opened up two wine coolers, giving her one. "To us, my love. To our perfect marriage and our beautiful future."

Des took the drink and clicked the bottle against his as she grinned at him. She loved him so very much. More than she had ever thought it was possible to love anyone, and she would be lost without him. "To us and our perfect marriage and our beautiful future that suddenly looks very bright Babe." She clicked her bottle against his again and took a drink.

Jean put his arm around her, sipped the wine cooler and slowly moved the swing back and forth with his booted foot, watching people come home from work, and some already heading to the inn and Outback. "Life is very good to us, Des. I couldn't be happier. You are all I ever want from life. All that is important to me is found in you."

Des happily cuddled beneath his broad shoulder and rested her head against his chest as she sipped the cold drink and watched the traffic on the street below them. "I've never been this happy before in my entire life, Babe. The life that we have is everything that I ever wanted."

He leaned over and gave her cheek and lips a wet 'peach wine-cooler' kiss. "I love you...with all my heart and more - forever and always and two days."

Tera licked her lips with a grin to get the drink and the taste that belonged only to him from them. "Mmhhmm. Forever and always and two whole days Pirate La Fontaine my beloved husband." She purred happily as she nuzzled the warm skin of his neck playfully with lips that were chilled from her drink.

He laughed and had to lean into her for she had him squirming with her cold, wet nibbles on his neck."You are driving me wild, Des. You are so going to get it tonight."

She chuckled huskily as she wrapped the arm around him that didn't have the wine cooler hand attached, and nuzzled him again. "I'm calling in The Outback tonight Beloved and I shall hold you to that when I get done."

He laughed, "You can hold me any way you want, mon cheri. How soon do you have to leave?"

"About and hour and a half give or take. I should probably try and get there a little early to get set up since it is my first night by myself." She smiled as she continued to sip from the bottle then trail chilled kisses along the column of his throat where it was still warm.

He finished off his bottle and started another, giving his beautiful wife another also. "Might as well be happy when you are calling, my love." He winked and kissed her, flicking his tongue into her mouth, catching her tongue with it, his smiling lips was against hers. He give her little kisses between each word, "I .... Love .... You!"

Des was convinced that life didn't get any better than this as she kissed him sweetly between those precious three little words. He could say them millions of times to her over the rest of their lives and she would never tire of hearing them from him. She upended the bottle and drained it of every last drop, then started in on her second. "They will never notice if I've been drinking or not in The Outback Babe. They are brawlers and drinkers over there,? she added as she winked sassily to him with a charming grin.

"If you didn't have to work in the Outback, I would take you inside, strip all your clothes off you, and make love with you in every way imaginable." His fingers played with her hair and his eyes searched the beauty of hers.

"Hold that thought because I really, really like it!" She smiled softly to him as she stroked his cheek tenderly, then trailed her fingers on downward over his jaw and along his neck until her hand come to rest splayed on his chest as her gaze remained focused on his.

They stayed in each others arms, slowly swinging, enjoying the time until Des had to leave for the Outback.

Jean put this moment deep within his memory. It was one of those times in the lives of two people that you never forget. You hold onto it and re-live it over and over until the day you die.
