Tera Destre

Jean de La Fontaine stepped off the porch of the Red Dragon Inn and wrapped his arm around Tera Destre. "It's a nice night, my love; why don't we go for a little stroll before heading back to the ship? I need some time away from there anyway."

Snug within the confines of his arm and the cloak she wore she matched her pace to his as they walked down the nearly deserted cobblestone street. The sound of boot heels ringing through the night a cheerful one to match the happiness she felt inside. "It is a beautiful night indeed Love. There is something that I have been wanting to show you that I found the other day when I was looking for that dress I bought for the wedding."

One arm was around his waist as well the hand resting lightly at his back as she glanced upwards to catch a glimpse of his handsome face as they passed beneath one of the oil lamps that lined the streets in this part of town.

He smiled, remembering how beautiful she had looked in that dress. He couldn't wait to see her in her own wedding dress, and perhaps this is what she desired to show him now. He leaned down and whispered right in her ear, "Je t'aime mademoiselle Destre. I love you so much." He gave her a squeeze and continued to walk down the street.

He couldn't wait for the summer to arrive and the weather to warm. "How was your evening, Des? Did everyone behave in the Inn? Did people get to see your ring?" He winked and leaned into her just a little to throw her a little off balance, teasing her.

Laughter tumbled free, a low sound filled with the delight she found in living now that they were together. He truly was the other half of her in every way imaginable, he was the one person she was completely committed to seeing happy. The Cowgirl slightly stumbled and leaned into him, both arms going around his trim waist to regain her balance, a radiant smile tipped up to him at the playful move.

"My evening was good. Keaton was tending bar with me tonight. No, not everyone behaved. Rick was there and threatened Icer and me again. Yes, I was showing off your ring and telling everyone we are engaged." Balance regained she stretched upwards, soft curves faithfully following the muscular lines of his chest until she could place a kiss to his lips.

He stopped and turned to her and took her into his arms. He so needed her kiss, to feel close to her, to share their love. He met her mouth with his and kissed her long and passionately; the kind of kiss that lovers share when they want nothing more than to express their love and feel it returned by that one person they can't live without. When the kiss finally ended, he smiled and put his arm around her once more and started to walk. "Now, just what is this thing you want to show me?"

It was so difficult to think clearly when he kissed her like that. Her heart took flight and the world melted away to a place where nothing else mattered but him and those incredible kisses. Goddess she loved him so deeply and didn't ever want that kiss to end and as he lifted his head she blinked then blinked again trying to gather the wits he so effortlessly scattered. "Hmm . . . ? Show you? Oh yes!"

Turning she headed for the pet shop she had passed by last Sunday and halted at the front window where there was a pen of fluffy little kittens all curled up together. "Look! Aren't they just the sweetest things you have ever seen Babe?" The navy eyes were shining with excitement as they shifted back and forth between her beloved and the bundle of kittens.

He looked at the kittens and saw that they were indeed cute, but it was the expression upon his future wife's face that melted his heart. Was there anything that he would refuse her? He knew the answer was 'no'. "Look, the shop is still open. Why don?t we go inside and have the closer inspection? That would be good, no?" He grinned, knowing what her answer would be.

A radiant smile broke free and she escaped from his arms to haul open the door while making an impatient grab for his hand with a little primitive growl. "Yes!" She wanted a kitten of her very own so very badly and had been waiting for days for just this opportunity.

He smiled and went inside the warm pet shop with the old wooden floors and the smell of wood shavings. "Look at them! They are the cute little fur balls, no? Which one would you like?"

Now that they were inside, she melted against his side and looked at them all so precious curled up there sleeping in their cozy pen. Gingerly so as not to hurt the tiny little thing she disengaged one little gray with a splash of white on it and lifted it up with a hand supporting its hind quarters so that she could see its little face.

Darting loving glances to her Fianc? and the tiny feline she cooed softly to it. "Ohhhhh. What do you think Love?" Carefully she turned the little kitten toward him so he could get a good look too. She wasn't about to get one that didn't also appeal to the man that she loved and was spending the rest of her life with.

He looked at the little kitten and scratched it on the side of its head and it immediately began to purr. "Hmm . . . I think this one . . . she wants to come home with us," he replied with a wink.

"Little Kali Kat." She grinned to her French Pirate love as she spoke the name they had agreed upon earlier to the little feline. "Yup, this one it shall be. I love you so very much, Jean!"

"Okay, Kali Kat, you want to come home with us?" He turned to Des, "I love you with all my heart, mon cheri." He looked over to the shop keeper and asked the price. It was 25 silver crowns, and the supplies and health matters were another 150 silver crowns. He reached into his money pouch and pulled out 175 silver crowns and handed it to the shop keeper. "We'll take her."

The elderly shop keeper smiled to herself as she placed the gray and white kitten into a basket padded with a soft towel for the trip home with her new owner while the couple finished shopping for the needed supplies.

The woman wasn?t worried about sending the tiny feline off with the handsome couple because she knew if they came to love the pet half as much as it was obvious they loved each other the animal was going to a wonderful new home.
