Lydia wasn't sure how she was going to do this. She never had a job before this one, so she never had this problem before. She tried to think about it for a while, what to say, how to say it... but nothing came to her.

She thought on her way to Des' office, perhaps, something would come to her... but nothing did. So there she was, at Des' door, at a loss for words.

Lydia frowned faintly then shook her head, she was just putting off the inevitable. This had to be done. A deep breath taken, she reached up to knock on the door.

"Des? Are you in? It's Lydia."

Biting her lip, she tilted her head, and simply waited...

Des was going over her latest to-do-list when the knock sounded on her door. It was a welcome sound that had her dropping her pen while glancing up and calling out with a smile. "Come on in Lydia!"

She shoved her bulk to her feet to meet her visitor with a hand motioning to a chair beside the desk. "Please do have a seat. It has been a while since I seen ya. How are things goin' with ya?"

Hearing Des, Lydia opened up the door and stepped in, closing the door behing her before she turned towards her friend who was...wow. It had been a while since she had seen her. Des looked ready to pop! ...not that it was a bad thing! ...and not that she would say that. Pale eyes falter and lower to take in that belly before lifting back up.

"Hey Des, you look-" Pause, oh so very brief as she tries to force the word 'pregnant' out of her mind. "-great!" Well, that was true enough, she did, having that glow about her mothers to be so often did. At least Lydia thought so. Smiling, she headed on over to take that seat pointed out.

"Things are going pretty well." Could have been better, but why drag her mood down? A cant of her head, pale eyes studying Des then. "What about you Des? How have you been?"

Procrastination? You betcha!

Des couldn't help but chuckle warmly as Lydia's gaze dropped to her tummy ever so briefly. Navy blue eyes sparkled merrily as she retook her own seat when her guest sat down as well. Glances to her pregnancy tummy were something that she was now well used to and didn't mind a bit.

"Thank ya! I feel great so far. I've been pretty busy lately with the holidays and everything and now the Election goin' on. But what about you? Ya don't come visit me very often. Is there something that I can help ya with or do for ya?"

The smile she gave to her held a bit of concern as she folded her arms on the surface of her desk and leaned slightly toward Lydia inviting her confidence as it occured to her that just maybe she was having trouble with a patron or customers in the Inn that needed to be taken care of.

Lydia straightened a bit as Des leaned over and rested her hands in her lap. "I'm sorry I haven't seen much of you lately Des, things have been a little busy." She paused, letting her gaze lower as she considered her words. "Erin and I are-" Speaking of her sister, it caused her voice to lower and falter, briefly though. "-ah, starting this business together." She had confidence Erin was going to come back, she had to. It's why she was doing what she was doing now.

Pale eyes lifted towards Des then. "It's.. kinda why I'm here." Another pause as she bit at her lower lip. "You see... I can't really... I don't have that much time to work on things for the business, because I'm also working at the inn. And right now, I've saved up a bit of money, and I'm making enough at the market where I don't really...need the job at the inn anymore." Head canted slightly as she tried to read Des' expression. "I suppose I.. came here to quit." Spoken as if they were foreign words, but really, she had never had a job before, much less quit one.

"Des, I also wanted to let you know how much it meant to me that you gave this job to me in the first place. At the time I didn't have much of anything, and I was just.. starting a new life basically. You giving me this job opened up a lot of doors, and it's.. it's helped, you've helped. A lot."

She smiled at Des and sank into her seat just a little now that she was done. Now she just waited, letting Des absorb all that.

Des continued to smile to Lydia even when her voice faltered a bit there. Her mind was racing with possibilities on what could be wrong. She hadn?t heard anything lately and was relieved at the mention of a business being started by the sisters. That was enough to cause anyone to be nervous and stressed in her book.

?Lydia that is wonderful news! I?m sure it will be a great success whatever kind it is.? She quieted as her visitor began to speak again and her smile became understanding and kind while she nodded slowly.

?I really do hate to see ya leave Lydia. Ya have been the best Page the RDI has had in a very long time. I want ya to know that the door is always open if ya ever want to come back not that being a RDI Page is the greatest job in the world but you?ll always have it if ya ever need it again.?

Des blushed a soft pink at the thanks and ducked her head slightly to try and hide some of the blush as she replied.

?Everyone deserves a chance Lydia and something told me that ya would do a great job from the moment that I met ya. I?ve always been proud of ya Lydia and I?m so happy that ya are making the most of your opportunities in life. If ya ever need anything, and I do mean *anything* please remember that all ya ever have to do is ask me.?

Happy, proud, yet a bit sad to be losing her, expressions flitted across Des' face before her usual warm smile settled back into place for her. ?Well I must admit I would like to be greedy and attempt to talk ya out of this but I hate to make things hard for people so I ain?t gonna do that to ya. Just know that I would like to.?

A grin appeared as she tried to make this as pleasant as possible an experience for Lydia although how plesant resigning from a job would ever be was up for debate. She would still do her best to keep Lydia from feeling bad about doing something that she felt had to do.
