He'd burned a lot of bridges. Broken a few hearts. And gotten a few bruised ribs because of it. Was it all worth it though? He was convinced it was. Either way he wouldn't be doing this. Thankfully he was able to get May's number from his sister. He'd sent her a few texts and made a few calls but no answer.

Time to take things to the next step. Using his charm he found out where she had been staying. Now every single day May would find on her doorstep a bouquet of a dozen flowers ranging from roses to orchids and everything in between. Notes of poetry were delivered to her as well. Gift baskets containing her favorite things would show up. He was trying here really trying. He could only hope and pray she felt the same way.

It had been these surprise gifts and flowers that had thrown May through the loop. She had been rather confused by it all, given the last time they had spoke. David had been head over heals for his boyfriend, and May understood. Right?

No...

That realization had hurt. It was though her first attempt at happiness since Jin had failed, leaving her wondering what the hell she would do.

Then she started getting these gifts and she didn't know what to think. It wasn't until she had been at the Stars End that she was able to put pieces together. Sorta. David had given her a kiss, nearly rocking her to the core, but even then she felt uneasy. All she could think about was... what about his boyfriend?

Hours of thought had passed since then. She had cleaned the jello off of her and gotten something strong to drink. Now she sat in front of the foot of her bed, wearing Star Wars underwear and pink fuzzy slippers, staring at her phone.

Flip... flip... flip... flip... Open... Shut.... Open... Shut... Open... Shut... Light... Dark... Light... Dark.... Light... Dark... Light... Dark...

Finally she opened it and opened a text message. As she chewed on her bottom lip she replied.

"Where? When?"

She knew he wanted to talk. And she needed answers.

It was amazing to see her again. The amount of happiness he felt was undescribable. But he felt as if he wronged her. He only knew the bits and pieces of what had happened between her and Jin. Maybe he was moving too fast? He didn't want to hurt her...That was the last thing he wanted.

At night he laid staring at the dark ceiling wakeful with the thoughts going through his mind. The other side of the bed having been empty and cold for sometime. Then a light in the darkness and the bzzt of his phone signaling he had received a text.

He stared at the message for a moment before replying back, "Whenever is best for you and we can go out for a bite to eat if you want?"

He sent the message and set the phone down. His sister's warning weighed heavy on him. He would be fine so long as he didn't screw this up. If it was his fault then it would be more than a couple of bruised ribs he have to worry about.

He weighed the options in his mind of what there was left if this didn't pan out. There were always other options. But is that what he really wanted? It wasn't in his heart. He'd burned a lot of bridges to get to this point and was hoping it wouldn't come crashing down.

She never really noticed how the ceiling fan in her room just went.... around... and around... and around... and around. Okay, she did, but when she really stared at it. Really truly stared at it... It was like a flower above her bed.

Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh, swoosh.

Bzzttttt.

Her head turned on her pillow to look at the spot where her phone rested. Jin used to sleep there. Blonde bangs fell in her face as her hand reached sideways for the phone that now took his place. Flipping it open, she studied the words, flat faced and as silent as a ghost.

Her heart? Racing...

"Bite sounds good. Text me when you're free and I'll pop in."

They had finally agreed to meet at the Jello HQ construction site in the morning. He was so nervous when he woke up that he forgot to properly fix his hair. Oh well he'd blame it on the wind or say it was his current style or something.

Dressed to impress with his trusty sketchbook under his arm he began his walk. Stopping along the way to pick up coffee for the both of them. After what finally felt like an eternity he reached his destination.

There she was the Goddess in his life scowling at a Nintendo hand held system. He just stopped and stared until he heard her yell at one of the construction workers. He then joined her, gave her the coffee, and they talked.

He was beyond relief to know she felt the same about him. His heart and soul were singing. Finally it seemed like after a long and tiring journey he could finally claim his prize. But she was more than that. She was everything to him. He promised himself that he would never hurt her and would only give her all of him. For that was all he had to give was simply himself. He hoped it would be enough.
