:Day 2:

~Where was your gut instinct on that one May? Huh? You were reeaalllllll smart. Should have worn a mask you nimbwit.~

Oh there it was again! May really needed popcorn while she watched the security tape they were showing her. She had been sitting there for hours with cuffs around her wrists, enchanted so that she couldn?t use any magic to get away. Like she was gonna run away?. Neo was a man so she was gonna be one too, but with a skirt instead of pants.

~Though? Watching you cast sleep spells on unsuspecting watchmen is amuzing.~

*Oh would you shut up mother. I?m going to sever this link if you don?t sto--- wait he?s talking I have to semi listen now.* Cue focus. May?s glazed expression turned to one of heightened curiosity. What were they going to plant on her? What were they going to do to make this situation worse? It was all running through her head as well as one other thing?.. How was she going to make this up to Jin?

?Miss Aleta, can you prove in any way that this woman in this video is not you?? He wasn?t a very attractive male, kinda scruffy in places. He had dark narrowed eyes, a five o? clock shadow, and messed hair. Was he really spending too much time on this case or did he just look that way all the time? He kept clearing his throat and giving off grunts, it was rather disturbing.

The cigarette box they had offered her was half full. Two days without Jin was wearing on her. Smoke curled around her lips and ash was then flicked into the small glass ash tray set to her side. She eyed the man with her dazzling green eyes and asked,? What?s your policy on Conjugal visits?? She really wanted to see Jin.

This caught the detective a bit off guard for a moment before he grunted, yet again,? Miss Aleta that is hardly important at the moment. Do you realize what you?re being charged with? Assault with magic is a very serious crime. Attempted Jail break is a very serious crime. Do you not see this? Working with us would make it a whole hell of a lot easier on you.?

Easier? How was any of this easier? She was not allowed to use magic, eating soggy bread and other assortments of food that was just wrong on many levels, and sharing a cell with a big woman named Birtha who wanted to make May her bitch. How could it get harder? She dared to be tempted to find out,? Again I ask, what is your policy on Conjugal visits??

?Such a thing is denied until after your trial.? He stated to her bluntly,? It is only given to those who cooperate and work with the watch and guards.? He was at least being honest,? Have you picked how you would like to proceed with that trial. By judge alone or by a jury. You will have a council appointed to you of course.?

?No council is needed.? *Not that they?d do any good?* May pursed her lips a bit while she sat there. A rather hard sigh came from her,? And I want a jury.? She said as she looked to her hands. When she got out of here she was going to show Jin just how much she loved him. No doubts of how she was going to do it either.

The detective scrunched his brows before he muttered,? You have no idea what is coming out of all of this do you? Proposition 37 people will eat this up as soon as they hear the case.? He was actually looking out for her best interests,? You will be eaten alive.?

?I hope I?m good with catsup.? Retorted bluntly as her cigarette was put out in the ash tray. She frowned slightly and sighed out. Again she was at a loss for what to do. Within the last few days she had been at her wits end, now she was in a jail with nothing to fret over or to do. Though her jello pools were probably going to waste, she worked on those pools to make them perfect.

She sighed out as he gave her a rather dagger filled look. Oh good, she was getting to him, just what she needed to do. She had her moments of stubborn pigheadedness. She was usually obedient when she was in trouble, but this time? She didn?t see the point.

?Miss Aleta are you sure this is the approach you wish to take?? He wrinkled his nose and pursed his lips. He rubbed at the scruff on his chin, trying to think of what to do to convince her that this was something she shouldn?t do alone.

?Yes. I will not hear another word about it either.? She peered at him,? I?m hungry and tired. Are we done?? She asked curiously before shifting.

He shook his head,? We are not, I will have something brought in for you.?

Good, she was going to get real food today. Despite him playing the good cop, she was eager to see who the bad cop was. This was all turning out to be an amusing act to her and it was going to get far to real she suspected after a while. For now she was going to live it up with the ?Good cop?.

?Can I get something like a burger, fries, ohh and lots of coke. I love that stuff.? She nodded to him eagerly. She was truly famished, but milking this was worth it. She didn?t know when she would have to go back to the cell.

?I?ll see what I can do?? was his only response before he stood and left the room.

She was allowed to eat, go to the restroom, and write on a note book. She was given a 24 pack of coke and a carton of cigarettes while they waited to see if she would wear down and think over what was happening. Still the result was the same.

No council, no assistance. She got into this mess on her own and she was going to get out of it on her own. Simple enough. All she had to do was wait for the day she could go home. At least, she hoped that was what the verdict was going to be. Home with Jin.

|Day 4|

Mayverdia was sitting at the table and turning her thumbs around the other. Her dark hair was pulled back with a shoelace. Green eyes were glazed over in deep thought. She was giving a slow hummm to fill the air. She kicked back in her spot, orange fabric rustling around her body. The man had told her calmly that she had an appointment at noon, so here she was sitting at the interrogation table waiting for noon to strike.

Once the clock struck noon, the journeyman opened the door and stepped into the interrogation room. He was dressed as usual, with a white button-down collared shirt and black trousers underneath a black trench coat. Per procedure, he had checked his weapons at the front desk. He sat down on the other side of the table and smiled at her. "Hello, May. My, what a predicament you've landed in here."

Deep thought was over as her head lifted and eyes locked upon none other than Alec. She let a brow tick up while she murmured," I've had worse... How's Jin? Is he alright?" Finally she felt like she was going to get some answers.. But a switched turned on in her brain and she murmured," Why are you here?"

"I'm not sure about Jin. Last I remember seeing him, he was still unconscious," he replied, ending with a wave of his hand. "I'm sure he is in capable hands, May. I'm here because you need someone to provide you with competent counsel and the judge in this case is allowing me to represent you as a kind of volunteer auxiliary."

The last bit of his words was ignored while she sat there looking at him with worry in her eyes," Unconscious?! What happened to him!?" She'd kick herself over and over, make herself pay for ever hurting Jin. If him being hurt was her fault she'd scream.

"I'm sorry, May... but I don't know what happened to him. I came in at the very end of it, but I don't think it had anything to do with what happened that night." If he remembered correctly, he'd seen Jin unconscious some other night... the night that the BCU was attacked in the back alley behind the Inn. "Now listen... he is going to be alright. We need to focus on you right now."

May sighed and drooped back in her spot. Her head lowered slightly while she drummed her fingers," Alright... Alright..." She looked to him as she shook her head," I told the detective I didn't want council..."

"Yes. I understand that you want nothing to do with this trial." He sighed quietly and regarded her for a silent moment. "But you are going on trial nonetheless... and the result will be your conviction if you sit there and do nothing. So... you have three options." Holds up his index finger. "One, you break out of here on your own hook." Second finger presents. "Two, you wait for your friends to break you out. They just might try it. Or," third finger making an appearance. "Three, you fight this with me... and help me perhaps put the whole system and this Prop 37 nonsense on trial, too." He sits there and waits for her to consider this.

Her brows knit together as she drew in a breath. She glanced to him for a moment in deep thought, her lips pursed tightly. She managed to rub the back of her neck before she spoke," Is there really any way what so ever that we could bring Prop 37 down with this?" She glanced up at him, then lowered her head with another sigh," I promised Jin I'd behave. We were told I'd get out of here, no worries at all, but.... Here I am awaiting a trial... I really just want to go home."

"I'll try to help you get home, May... I promise I'll try very hard." He leaned back into his chair and crossed his arms, watching her across the table as he continued. "I have a feeling that the state will bring in Prop 37 without our help. I gathered that from the press release they put out regarding your trial." After another silent moment, long enough to give her time to think about what he'd just said, he made to lean against the table as he peered at her. "If you let me, May. I want to help you get out of here."

If she stuck around here there was no telling what could happen. May could be thrown into a riot or worse a Jail house beating. She drew in a breath and nodded softly," Thank you Alec..." She started to scratch at her head while she murmured," I'm afraid they have me on camera... It's pretty open and shut."

"I'll be sure to take a look at the footage from that camera." He took out a small notebook and pencil from inside his coat. "Now I need you to tell me exactly what happened that night. Spare me no details."

"What is there to say? I heard that Icer was in jail...." She paused to think things over before exhaling," For the last few weeks of this Prop 37 crap I've been thinking over a lot of things. A lot of things. This proposition scares me. Royally." She bit her lip," But it's not for myself ya know?"

"No, I reckon not." He looked up from his scribbling on the notebook to fix May squarely in that serene hazel gaze. "You are afraid for your friends... for Icer and her family. And for all of your other friends who are of magical natures."

"I wish I could say that was the reason why this proposition scares me..." She sighed out while she sat there. Her fingers laced a bit.

"Alright, I'll bite," he said, setting the notebook and pencil down on the table. "What scares you so much about the Proposition?"

?In all my years of living I have never once thought I'd ever have a family, or even thought I'd find someone to life my life with." She stated for a moment before exhaling lightly," I'm afraid that if this proposition passes that it could mean ill will for any child I have or for Jin and his brother. Even my sister and her family. She's going to have a baby and if this proposition goes bad..." She simply shakes her head, not wishing to think about it any longer.

"So being afraid of that one thing, letting it dwell in my head for days on end..." She pursed her lips," When I found out Icer had been put in Jail. I snapped."

Alec listens attentively as she speaks, hands folded onto his lap, eyes fixed firmly onto her own. He reads her every emotion as she relays her deepest fear regarding the Proposition. "What you did was impulsive and ill-advised. Still," the journeyman said with a nonchalant shrug of shoulders. "I can't say that I wouldn't have done something similar. Had Neo not warned us off..." He didn't finish that thought. "Ok, so they have you dead to rights. I still think that they will inject 37 into this... if they do, we can nail them on it. And maybe we can even get you off the hook. But I won't kid you, May... it will be a difficult case to win."

"I don't know if you've heard, but Icer was released from jail recently. Sometimes the system gets it right if you give it a chance."

She looked to him for a moment," What do you mean? If Neo had warned you off?" She was actually not going to take silence for an answer on this. She drew in a breath as she sat there," Don't sugar coat things either please."

He was sugarcoating nothing. It wasn't in his nature to do so. "Neo was imprisoned on suspicion of murdering that Vall woman. We were considering bum-rushing the jail to break him out... but it was his wish that we wait and give the system a chance. And he was right."

She nodded lightly," I see..." She exhaled again and went back to the subject at hand," I broke into the jail by putting sleep spells on the watch within." She sighed for a moment before she murmured," There were only five watch... Only five and they weren't harmed other than that."

"Sleep spells?" He jots that down on the small pad before him. "Sleep spells... that's it? That's the "dangerous" magic you employed against the guards that night?" It was beyond belief how this was being portrayed by the Watch outside the walls of the jailhouse.

"It was all I used. I was even there to catch them as they stumbled and slumped over. Not a scratch was given to them." She frowned," But since I violated them by putting a sleep spell on them..." She sighed out lightly," I also used a bit of magic to get in and through doors quickly."

Alec listened to all of that, jotting it down before setting the pencil down on the table going to lean back against his chair again. He then tossed his head back and had a good ol' fashioned, satisfied laugh. "Oh yeah... they're bringing 37 into this. It's the only way that they can make such a serious charge out of this."

"It was assault with magic. At least that's what they said." She pursed her lips again while she sat down. Her eyes looked towards her hands as she shook her head," If Proposition 37 is influencing this case so much... Then what does that say in the case of politics?"

"Well... it says that the establishment is helping to push 37 from the top down. But I believe that it opens the Proposition up to attack in the courtroom... and it is a debate that I don't think the backers of 37 really want to have." He shakes his head, crossing his over his chest again. "Assault with magic is one thing... but mark my words: they will try to make an example of you that solidifies the case for 37 to be implemented."

Her head shook," That's what I'm afraid of." She slumped back in her spot and sighed out lightly," Just what I need. More harassment from outside forces." Shaking her head a bit," Like I don't get enough from Franco about dating Jin."

"Franco is an idiot... a camera prop speaking of idle nonsense to please his brain-dead subscribers." He shakes his head and gets right back down to business. "No, May... we're going to welcome it. It gets the attention off of your well-intentioned but ill-advised actions, and opens up a lane of attack against the whole legality of Prop 37."

She nodded again as she sat there," How do we start this attack? What do we do when they present this case?" She pursed her lips a bit before she sighed out lightly," I'm afraid of the prosecution and the judge... I met her the other day. I don't even know if that's allowed."

"It's... unorthodox. But not unheard of." He picks up the notebook and tucks it back into his coat, along with his pencil. "First, I need to file a motion of discovery and get a look at the prosecutions witness list and physical evidence, so we can attack the case on its merits... just in case they never refer to 37. But they will... and when they do, we will attack it along constitutional grounds: the equal protection clause, for starters. We'll prepare other avenues of attack, as well."

She frowned a bit as she sat there," I haven't met the persecution. All I know is that I've been told over and over that there's no way I'll win this case. They say with the evidence they have against me..." She lowered her head as she began to sound a bit hopeless. Once more she sighed before murmuring," Alec... I don't want to make Jin wait more than the trial date to see me again. I want to see him and they won't even let me have that."

"I'll fix that. Maybe I could make him an assistant counsel on this case... then they would have to let him see you." It was an idea worth exploring... with such a shortage of counsel available to provide competent defense for the accused, the Judge might well have no choice but to allow it. "If not, I'm sure that I can get a court order on constitutional grounds to let him in here."

She drew in a breath and sat forwards," Alec if you can do that for me I'll do and say whatever you need me to do in this case." All she wanted was to see Jin, tell him over and over how much she loved him. She bit her lip softly before she nodded," I don't know who they have pushing this case forwards, but as far as I know they've managed to make it almost as if they're keeping me in good shape for this. They keep me in here and feed me good meals. I haven't met the bad cop yet."

"Yes, well... from this point forward, you don't speak to anyone from the state without my being present. Understand?" Alec arched a slender eyebrow as he continued. "Not the bad cop. Not the good cop. Not whichever peon is bringing you all that good food. From here on out, I am you mouthpiece to the state."

Hearing this she nods to him again," Understood." She was finally feeling as if she was at peace," Do you think that they could get this thing off of me too?" Tugging on the orange jump suit," It's really uncomfortable. Almost as uncomfortable as my cell."

"Hmm," he said as he methodically perused her jumpsuit. "I'll see what I can do, but I make no promises. Once the trial starts, I'll see to it that you are allowed to wear respectable clothing to the courthouse. Most judges prefer that everyone dress well, including the accused."

"Thank you." She folded her fingers together and folded her legs over the other. Her frame shifted as she spoke," What else do we need?"

"Nothing else for the moment. I have everything I need to get started." Alec stood up and regarded his friend warmly. "Is there anything else you need? Any messages you want me to deliver?"

"Yeah." She swallowed softly," Can you tell Jin and Neo both that I'm sorry for being an idiot...? Also tell my sister and her husband not to fret, I know he won't, but she will. Tell them that I'll be just fine. And Darcy... Tell her not to do anything stupid, she sounded like she was going to when I used up my one phone call to tell her what was going on."

"Yes, Darcy..." He paused for a moment before continuing. "I'm afraid that Darcy has gone missing. There is a strong suspicion that Anubis has kidnapped her."

May sucked in a rather hard breath before it slipped out," WHAT!?" She pushed back in her seat and brought her hands up through her hair. Both elbows rested on the table while she buried her face in her hands," Oh god D..." Shaking her head," Oh gods..."

Alec walked over to May and placed his hand onto her shoulder, offering her a warm and reassuring squeeze. "I know... I know..." He narrowed his eyes at the mere thought of that slaving Egyptian bastard. "I'm going to confer with Neo and figure something out. Rest assured, we won't let this stand." First Duci, then Darcy... no, Alec was coming at Anubis full-bore, and he was bringing the rest of BCU with him, most likely.

Her head shook as she sat there. Her frame trembling a bit as she gripped at her hair. She gave out a light sob as she murmured," It's all my fault. Usually I'm there to kick her ass at these kind of things... If I had been there and not being an idiot she would have never gone missing." She was really kicking herself for this.

"You don't know that for sure, May. We don't even know for sure that Anubis has her, yet. But there is a lot of circumstantial evidence that says he took her." Even the analytical Ippon harbored a strong assumption that the slaver took her. "Look... you are where you are, and there is nothing you can do about it now. Kicking yourself for being impulsive isn't going to do you any good... and it sure as hell won't do her any good."

"I just can't understand why she would do this..If the slaver took her..." She shook her head again while her head lowered slightly," She's been off since Shane dumped her. I should have been there for her instead of keeping to myself." She pushed back some of her hair," The funny thing was... Two days before that day.. I started working for the watch with Jin."

The journeyman pats her shoulder and take to half-sit there on the edge of the table beside her. "Funny how life takes its little turns and twists." He regards her with a friendly gaze for a silent moment. "Now... anything I can get for you from the outside?"

She exhaled lightly before she nodded," A blanket and a picture of Jin." She said as she sat there," Perhaps one of Bcu too. Just small comforts. I'm cold at nights, very cold and one blanket isn't doing much. The pillow sucks, but I can live with it. I just want to be warm cause it's a whole hell of a lot different when there's not a snoring boyfriend laying next to you at night."

Alec chuckled at that kast bit. "I wouldn't know about that, but I can speak volumes about having an elfess girlfriend to lay beside at night." He makes a mental note of that list and nods, standing up and patting her shoulder. "Alright, I'm off. You hang in there, May. This will all work itself out."

"One more thing Alec..." She said as she drew in a breath," Can you stop by 36 Pinbrook lane for me?" She had been going there on free times, helping out when she could. Alec would understand when he saw the place.

"Thirty-six Pinbrook Lane," he repeated, marking it down into his memory and nodding. "Will do." He smiles to her. "Take care, May. I'll be seeing you again soon."

She nodded to him right as the guard opened the door, bringing May a chicken sandwich with ranch dressing and fries. He warned that when she was done she would be moved back to her cell. She nodded to him before nodding to Alec," See you soon."

{Live RP between Mayday and Alec. Thanks Alec for the help!}
