Introducing the Rhy'din Transit System (RTS)

The Rhy'din Transit System(RTS) is a set of trackless trains that run various routes through the city of Rhy'din and some of its associated Communities. The service is provided courtesy of the RTS at no cost to
either the communities, their residents, or those that make use of the system.

The RTS provides mainly passenger service, but limited freight service is also available. This frieght service will be station to station on the train's schedule rather than door to door service when requested as any of the normal carrier services in the city can provide.

Currently, the RTS has 3 Routes outside of the city of Rhy'din. These routes go to the communities of; Star's End, Arcadia, and Mount Yasou. The routes for Star's End and Arcadia run twice a day. Once in the morning, once in the evening. The route to Mount Yasou follows the one for Star's End until it leaves the city limits, at which point it breaks off and heads north to the borders of Mount Yasou territory. This train runs twice a week.

Trains may also be chartered at rates varied according to the event. Charitable charters are done at no charge. Civic charters at reduced rates. Private charters are charged a base rate, but application for reduced, or forgiven rates can be made on the basis of need.

It is also the policy of the RTS to keep two spare trains and drivers ready at all times for either emergencies, either civic or mechanical, or for impromtu chartering.

Unless otherwise noted in the post for that route, each route runs once an hour, starting out from the Transfer Station at right about on the hour. The trains will run 24 hours a day, unless severe weather or other restrictive crisis occur.

The RTS has 5 "Main stations" built on the pattern descriped here.
These stations are located in the Rhy'din Southgate district, Arcadia, Star's End, this side of the border for Mount Yasou, and midway to Star's End in the Dagger Edge mountains.

These Station have been designed with large, above ground flight entrances for the convenience of the flying members of the community.

Each station has space for several small shops as well as the usual facilities such as Restrooms, Multi-Vers WiFi, and info booths. At least one shop in each station will be a food service type.

The Dagger's Edge station will also be provided with several cabins and a scenic picnic area.

((The shops and restaraunts in the staions are purposely left open to allow others to a place to start small places of their own, or even just "branches" of established businesses. ))

Trains
The trains of the RTS come in two varieties, Andu's Personal Train, and the Standard RTS Train. Regardless of appearence, each of the Standard RTS trains (SRTSTs) has the following basic stats. It is NOT a standard "trackless Train" as is found on Earth. While that idea was used as the basis of these trains, Andu quickly realized that the limited capabilities of such vehicles would not work well with the primitive, dangerous, and year round needs of Rhy'din.

1. There are a total of 11 trains in the RTS, Andu's and 10 SRTSTs.

2. The "engine" of the Engine part of the Train is an high-tech electric plant with a steam engine back up. Batteries provide enough electicity for the Engine to run continuously for 12 hours of normal usage. The batteries are designed for easy and quick exchange in case of an emergency. Fuel for the Steam engine is normally limited two 20 minutes use, just enough time to run through one of the "anti-tech" areas, but can be increased by the simply addition of a special car right behind the engine.

3. Each train is able to haul up tow 6 cars with full passenger loads of 6 adults or 9 children. This means each train is able to handle upto 24 adults or 54 children or a combination of the two.

4. Unlike their "earthly basis" these trains are designed to be able to handle both higher speeds, rougher terrain and relatively steep inclines.
A. While their "Normal" cruising speeds are about the pace of a fast walk, the Trains are capable of doing up to 50 miles an hour. Each engine and car is specifically built with "Ballast" in the lower part and an active suspension so that they are able to safely handle turns and inclines at those speeds. These speeds do reduce the "endurance" of the Batteries significantly, cutting their time to 6 hours for 25mph, or 3 hours for 50mph.
B. While the trains are not built with the sort of "ground clearance" common to Off-road vehicles, they are built with wide tires and the power to handle most fairly even terrain, ie. fields, dirt roads, and open prairies.
C. These Trains are fully capable of handling slopes of up to 45 degrees instead of being limited to the 8 or less degreees of the original designs.
5. Due to the size needed to fit Andu in as an engineer, his personal train is able to include even greater capabilities than the SRTSTs.
A. Andu's Train is able to mount 4 of the standard batteries, giving it a full 24 hours at normal usage, the increased engine and load size halves what increase endurance might have occurred otherwise.
B. While it can't handle any greater inclines than the SRTSTs, Andu's train is able to handle rougher ground (It has a naturally higher ground clearence due to it's size), and to pull MUCH Heavier loads.
C. Andu's train is able to haul up to 100 tons divided between cars and "cargo/passengers". Using the double decker cars breaks down like this... It can pull up to 10 double decker Passenger cars with full loads. Each of these cars is able to carry 40 adults or 60 children, giving his train the cappacity to haul a total of 400 adults or 600 children.

Special purpose and foul weather cars are available on need. Coloring and trim can differ wildly as drivers with regular routes are allowed to customize the trains they usually use.

Robyn's Flower Train. Both cars are enviromentally controlled with a coommunication system linked to the engine. The rear car also has shelves and systems for the care and transportation of flowers. These include a sprinkler system to prevent dehidration.

The RTS has varying advertising options available. The highest level includes a train and cars customized to by the advertiser.

The following Groups/Businesses/Organizations have contracts with the RTS that include a customized train.

Bristle Crios
Reilly Recording Inc.
The Grand Imperial Hotel & Casino
Llyr's Healing Arts

Other Advertising opportunities with the RTS include posters in one or more of the 6 stations. (Main, Transfer, Dagger's Edge, Star's End, Arcadia, and Yasou Mountains). Poster space is also available inside each of the passenger cars of the trains themselves.

((Due to the loss of my primary system, I am currently unable to work up 3d models. So the "owners" of the groups on this list are welcome to post a description and/or pics of their train.))
