Phillipe opened the door and stepped down out of the horse drawn coach. Turning, he took Aj's hand and helped her down, before turning and walking over to grab their bags from the back. Then together, they walked up the steps and stopped before the door.
Phillipe turned and smiled at her. "The last time we were here, the circumstances were quite different." he said.
Aj giggled softly. "The last time we were here, I thought I never wanted to see you again." She turned and looked up at the front of her father's mansion. "Of course, I didn't know Soul was my father then either. I'm so glad that I can wash that memory away with these happy ones!" she smiled brightly.
"I am too." Phillipe replied as he set their bags down and began rummaging for the key in his pocket. "By the way, we got a gift from Lohan Tennibrus. He sent us vouchers for an all expenses paid voyage one one of his sailing ships up the continental coastline and back again. Should take at least a week to two weeks to do, whenever you are ready."
Aj's eyes grew wide. "Really? Oh Phillipe, that's wonderful!"
Phillipe managed to get the door unlocked and pushed it open. "Soul said to stay as long as we wished. He would mind the apartment and keep Alex company until we return." He saw her look and grinned. "He promised that he wouldn't fight with her as long as she stayed out of trouble." He looked inside the door. Inside the mansion, he was amazed to see the inside totally transformed. His last visit he had found Soul's house to be sterile and bare. But now the large mansion had been totally remodeled. Everywhere he looked he saw beautiful furniture and decor, oriental rugs and small accents to make the manor seem warm and cozy.
"Wow..." Phillipe said, letting out a low whistle. "He's remodeled."
Aj went to look but Phillipe put out an arm, stopping her. "What?" she asked. For an answer, Phillipe pointed. "Threshold." he said. "I'm supposed to carry you across it!" And with that he scooped her up in his arms and carried her laughing through the doorway.
Once inside, he carried her over and set her in a large squashy arm chair, and picked up a note that was resting there on a table. He opened it and read.
Please stay as long as you wish. I hired an interior decorator to try
and make the place a bit more welcoming. I hope it pleases you both.
Dont worry about meals and other things. I have hired a small staff to
cater to your every need. The master bedroom is upstairs and to the
right, above the reception hall in the South Wing.
Soul
Phillipe whistled. "Every need eh? Well I know one need that the staff can take care of!" and he gave Aj's bottom a quick pinch. She squealed and took off running up the stairs, with Phillipe in hot pursuit.
