"Are you sure?" Her voice obviously full of doubt as she looked toward the battered looking man. "Yes, I am sure. The coordinates are right this time. This has to be the right plane."
"Yes but you said that the last what....6 times? I'm sick and tired of dying. I'm sick and tired of you having to get me rezz'd. I don't think I can take much more of this."
"I keep telling you...You aren't really dying, it's sort of a rebirth every time you jump through the portals. You knew the risks. I warned you this could happen. I warned you about these places and what they could do to your mind. Are you sure this husband of yours if worth all of this?"
"Be careful mage," her hand on the hilt of her long sword, Eternity..."I would just soon slay you as hear you say such things about my beloved. He and my children are all that matters. I've always known it, but never saw the forest for the trees that were before me."
"Ok ok..." he gulped a bit when he saw where her hand strayed...he'd seen her slay many a foe with that sword. He'd watched her best some of the mightiest creatures that haunt your worst nightmares. It would not be wise to upset a woman of her *stature*, let alone a drow. "But, I'm warning you once again, this time could very well be the last. Remember how you were disoriented last time? Every time it gets worse. Takes you longer to piece things back together."
"I know, but it's a risk I must take. Now just cast the spell," her voice a near shriek by this time.
This time Olav only nodded and began to chant the complex spell that would enable Samleanus to enter a portal to a different plane of existence. He hoped she would succeed this time, he wasn't sure if he would have the strength or power to pull her back a seventh time. As it was, his darling wife was going to have his head when he went home.
In front of Sammy a shimmering portal began to slowly appear, on the other side a town of sorts appeared. She squinted, her eyes trying to make sense of all the fluctuations that were happening before her. Could it be Rhydin? Finally? Her mind a blaze with hope as she placed one hand into the swirling light. When flesh touched light, she disappeared...the rending of her soul and body seeming to pull her apart, the charge of the electrifying magic surrounded her. Then in what seemed hours of pain she fell to the earth in an alleyway behind a couple of buildings. When she finally came too, Sammy didn't really know where she was or why she was here. She remembered a pain in the ass mage and something else...Oh yes...she would never forget his face...Not ever; she closed her eyes seeing him in her mind's eye. So handsome, his long dark hair blowing in the breeze, beckoning her to come to him...to help him. The handsome face turned to one of horror as the dark dragon queen descended upon him in all her fury. When she finally opened her eyes, they were full of tears...It couldn't be true. Arch wasn't dead. He couldn't be dead, she had to find out. Where was he? "Where am I?"
Instead of pondering anymore of where she was, she slowly pulled herself up from the ground and stumbled toward the light and sound from a nearby tavern. Pulling her cloak tightly around her like it was her only protection from those around her; she entered the Red Dragon Inn. The name sprung forth a blatant memory or two. Maybe she had been here before?
