So time flies when you are having fun and getting to know your husband and daughter all over again.

The day of love was upon them and Sammy wanted to make sure it would be a night to remember for her beloved. She'd showered Ali with a new gift, the gift she could make her own and flourish no matter which way she decided. Sammy handed over the stables at their home in Rhydin to her and gave her an allotment to buy the horses to fill them. All Sammy wanted in a return was a horse of her own!

While Arch was away with Gav, Sammy had their new bedroom suite delivered. The four poster bed was made of mahogny wood, the color a deep red, so rich in color it was majestic all it's own. The feather mattress was soft, but not so soft that you'd loose yourself in the coverlets. "Yes, this will do rather nicely, please place the dressers over there on that wall, the end tables...yes yes...right there...oh and the curio on that wall. Hmmmm, yes I think that will do rather nicely."

After another half hour or so of moving everything around to her liking, their bedroom was finally complete with furniture.

"Now the fun part," her amber eyes twinkling with delight as she brought in some pictures, tapestries, fresh flowers, sconses for the walls...all those wonderful scented candles and of course the weapons cabinet. What bedroom wasn't complete with a weapons cabinet?

It wasn't long before the queen of mana was dressed in a special nightgown, made just for this special evening. When he opened the door, he'd be in for a big surprise.

Sir Arch (pronounced ?Ark?) Fane, the immortal knight, finished his duties with the new security measures at the Starfare mansion, and he rode his great black destrier back to the home that he and Sammy had purchased together.

The sun had set and the moonless night settled upon the land, making the cold wind and blowing snow all the worse. Arch pulled the hood of the heavy woolen cloak up around his head with his gauntleted hand. The cloak covered his armor but couldn?t keep the cold from reaching the knight. He road slowly through the city streets to avoid the hoofs of his horse from slipping, and then he road out of the gate to the north where the trail was already covered with a foot of snow.

His thoughts were not on the cold, nor even upon his duties at the Starfare mansion, or at the castle in Westridge. His thoughts were totally on his wife, Queen Samleanus, the Drow Queen of Mana. It was those thoughts that kept him warm as he rode through the woods and then up the path that led to their own little castle in Rhydin.

A servant took his horse and Sir Fane entered the castle through a rear door into a large mud room where he removed his cloak and armor. He freshened up with the cold water from the sink and combed out his long, dark hair. Arch Fane then entered the castle proper and greeted the staff, requesting his dinner to be brought up to the bedroom.

Arch trudged up the stairs, knocked on the heaven wooden door, and then opened that door to the bedroom.

He was greeted by the soft aroma and light of candles ? and by the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.

Arch smiled and whispered her name. ?Sammy.?

She was reclining on their new sofa in front of the fireplace, cuddled all into the satiny soft pillows reading a book waiting on her beloved. Why he knocked on the door Sammy would never know, he was so formal and that made her smile.

That smile is what he saw when the door opened, she stood up quickly laying the book off to the side, it now forgotten. When he whispered her name, it sent tingles up and down her spine she was so happy to see him.

"Arch," her voice equally quiet as she strode toward him, doing the occassional hop from one rug to the next. The fireplace played with her siloutte within the confines of her black sheer nightgown. The sleeves were floor length and slit up to her elbows, while the sides of her gown was slit as well all the way to her tone upper thigh. The tease of a red satin ruffle could barely be seen as she walked, making one wonder what was underneath.

"I've been waiting for you," she arched an eyebrow while giving him a coy smile.

His eyes followed Sammy as she approached him, taking in every inch of her shapely body. He smiled, ?And I?ve been thinking of you all day long.?

He walked up to her and slipped a large, strong hand to the back of her head and pulled her into a kiss, slow and deep. Then he bent down, picked her up into his arms, and walked her over to the couch.

?Can?t be having your pretty toes touch the cold floor, baby.? He smiled and set her down on the couch. ?I need to get cleaned up. Don?t go anywhere.? He gave her a wink that was filled with promises.

The queen had been literally aching for the kiss he now gave her all day long. Being back in his arms was a dream come true for her, one that had almost driven her to her death trying to find the right plane of existance. So she was not going to screw up this time, no way...no how. If she had to give up Mana to keep everything running smoothly in her personal life, she'd do that too. Mana was running just fine, even with her daughter's trek across the wilderness. This time of year everything tended to slow way down due to the weather conditions. Her head of security had assured her everything was fine and she was good with that. Plus a few spells set in place to make sure nothing was amiss that was always a good form of security too.

As he carried her to the couch, she couldn't help but chuckle softly at him, "Why no we wouldn't want THAT now would we? My toes getting cold, it would make life just so unbearable." When he said he needed to clean up, she gave him a pretty little pout as she watched his retreating backside. Rather nice backside too, she tilted her head to the side watching him walk away and stretched just so...to get the last glimpse as he walked into the bathing chamber.

"I'm so glad you are home," she called out to Arch from the couch, she stretched out like a lioness while reaching beneath the pillows making sure her gift for him was still there. Secure in the fact that it was, she left it right where it lay and would give it to him at the proper time.

Arch Fane smiled when she told him that she was so glad that he was home. He had not yet told her that he had a week off to spend totally with her ? a week with his wife, what could be better. He hummed in the bathroom as he showered and shaved, then he came out wearing only a black robe that was tied loosely at the waist.

It had been much too long since they had just been husband and wife, without any worries, without any problems, without anything except their love for each other and the time to show it.

The immortal knight looked at his wife as she stretched out on the couch, and he could feel the desire she aroused within him. He sat on the edge of the couch cushion, even with her waist, and he leaned over her and looked into her eyes.

?I love you, Sammy. Very much.?

*Oh to be that robe!* she thought to herself as he walked to where she was laid out on the couch.

?I love you, Sammy. Very much.?

As the words were spoke of love, tears streamed slowly from the corner of her amber eyes, "And I love you, Arch...so very much." She reached up with her hand, placing it at the back of his neck pulling him too her. When their lips met, she kissed him with a built up passion that had been threatening to errupt from the moment he walked into the bedroom. Now all that she wanted to do, could do, would do and would willingly have done to her person...could happen.

One of the servants was heading for the master bedroom of their new master's suite. So much had been accomplished this day with the new furniture delivered, plus the dining hall's table and chairs had finally been completed and delivered this day as well. This is what she was going to tell her Lady.

Just as she was about to knock on the door, muffled sounds were heard through the door and Seline hesitated before her hand connected with the door.

"Perhaps I should tell her later?"

Sir Fane would never have heard the knock on the door. The only thing he was hearing was the wonderful sounds of making love with his wife. This was all he needed . . . all he wanted. The wars, the conquests, the feeling of victory in batter - it was all fleeting satisfaction which meant nothing in the end.

Being here in the arms of his wife - this was what life was about, this is what brought true happiness and meaning to him.

When their love making had finally come to an exhausted conclusion, he curled up with his wife and tenderly caressed her face with the same right hand that had literally taken the lives of thousands.

"I don't want us to be apart again, Sammy. Being with you . . . this is what matters," he said softly and smiled. "Do you think you can put up with me hanging around you all the time?"

As Arch, Sammy would have not heard the knock at the door had it actually happened, or perhaps it did. Knock? What knock!

Sometime during the love making the pair had made it to the floor in front of the fireplace. Thankfully the fur rug had been delivered that day or it would have been rather nippy down there.

"Hmmmm, yes I think I can get used to you hanging around." She moved her head just so and kissed one of his fingers as he caressed her face lovingly. "Do you think you can handle me? Now that's the real question." Her eyes danced happily as she gazed into his, "I'm sure our daughter will be thrilled." Sammy nuzzled into the nap of his neck, softly kissing him there as they enjoyed being together. "You know, I could get used to this. I just wish you didn't have to back to Westridge tomorrow."

One of these days Sammy was going to have to take herself back to Mana. Her daughters were no doubt wondering what had happened to their mother, but Sam was enjoying...doing nothing for now. The few times she'd tried to contact them, it was obvious they were otherwise preoccupied. The eb and flow of thoughts along with emotions told her they were both quite happy with their current circumstances. So perhaps down the road she'd take herself backt o Mana, so for now she was quite content living in downtown Rhydin with Arch and their daughter, Ali.

Speaking of Arch, she wondered how long he'd be gone?
