Those early morning hours were her quiet times and even now she was adjusting to the fact that she wasn't at her rented room but at the cottage. Guage plodded up to her, whuffing silently in greeting as she grinned down to him and offered her hand to the hound dog to lick.

wait, i'm wrong
should've done better than this
please, i'll be strong
i'm finding it hard to resist

so show me what i'm looking for

save me, i'm lost
oh lord i've been waiting for you
i'll pay any cost
save me from being confused
show me what i'm looking for
show me what i'm looking for
oh lord

The shirt worn hung loose on her. Far too large but she found comfort in it. Pale hand touched the window pane as she leaned towards it and smiled up faintly towards all that rested beyond the window. One hand smoothed through fox-red hair to still all the wild parts that stuck up despite her control.

A turn then and she was kneeling down besides the dog with a light smile as she kissed his nose affectionately and got slobbered in the process. She was laughing warmly at that, her barking dart of laughter as she hugged the hound dog to her.

don't let go
i've wanted this far too long
mistakes become regrets
i've learned to love abuse
please show me what i'm looking for

save me, im lost
oh lord i've been waiting for you
i'll pay any cost
save me from being confused
show me what i'm looking for
show me what i'm looking for
oh lord

"We'll take care of 'im won't we, pup?" The hound dog answered with a chuff of agreement and was slobbering her face again as she squealed and laughed like a ten year old with a beloved pet. It felt so much better to laugh rather then cry. Heart and spirit felt so much lighter now. Sure there were things that they had to deal with. All in good time. They had all the time in the world to deal with Death and Insanity. For now... it was nice... for it just to be the three of them...

save me, im lost
oh lord i've been waiting for you
i'll pay any cost
to save me from being confused
wait, i'm wrong
i can't do better than this
i'll pay any cost
save me from being confused

It had been years since he'd had company over like that, years.

He'd come so far to put Ireland and all that it was behind him, but with Jinx upclose and personal, memories and thoughts on it were haunting him. No matter how much he told her he still felt like he was hiding something. Still felt like he wasn't sharing what he should, telling what he should. He could have confessed a hundred times and still thought that the truth were far away from him.

Here though, going to work and knowing someone was back there, hanging out with Gauge-- he thought it would bother him, nag at a sore wound when the reality was that it was some sort of relief. The two had had it out with one another and finally the dust settled with an understanding. He almost missed a couple stitches with his mind so preoccupied. He chuckled. Boss let him off early and Shane made for his home.

But the question one really had to ask was... would she still be there when he got back. He held his breath when he opened the door.

The door coming open had her looking up from her place on the floor where she now had a hound dog gracefully draped across her lap. Even though gracefully and hound dog didn't really fit but it was a polite term.

She had remained, with no where else to go save for a quick stop at the marketplace to pick up a few items.

"How was work?"

A bemused chuckle as she nudged the dog off of her to stand up, dusting off her jeans. It was nice to be off for a change for a long weekend. She had taken a few days off and the tavern hadn't seemed to mind. Jinx if anything was a hard worker.

It was an odd thing to be on her own for so long, she almost forgot what it was like to have human companionship, someone to look forward to coming home to or them coming home to you. Jacinta wasn't wanting to act like she was playing house but for once... it was so bloody nice just to have someone there.

Smile touching lips she went to him then, arms sliding around his waist as her cheek nuzzled his chest lightly. Work worn and probably sweaty she didn't care. Those blue eyes that could be as tempestuous as the sea looked up at him then.

"Ah 'ope yer 'ungry."

There the Fox's grin came, fingers lacing through his as she tugged his hand lightly. If he hadn't noticed it now, his home was delightfully coated in the aroma of beef roast, fresh bread, and the comfort of roasted potatoes. With time on her side, it was just another ace up the sleeve. The woman might be wild at times... but one thing was for sure... she could cook.

Actually, her presence had been overwhelming when he opened the door.

The keys were still in the doorknob when she embraced him and as she did his arm came around her. Blue eyes scouted what he could see, the scent of food hitting him as she began to pull him into the kitchen.

"Of course I'm hungry," he chuckled. Sometimes after work he'd grab a drink or two at the inn and then get something to eat or maybe even miss a meal or two. Might have been why the guy looked so lean.

Gauge took the opportunity to shoot out the open door, off to do his security laps around what he considered their land. When he heard the door he double backed to take the keys out of it and shut it. Keys put on the kitchen counter and he lowered his head to press a kiss to her cheek.

"I'm gonna go wash up real quick before I get into this. It looks great."

Shane didn't dally. He shot into his bedroom, to his bathroom, showering off rigorously with soap and lathered up his hair with shampoo. It was getting warmer, he was musky and tasted like salt. It felt like an oily layer were getting peeled off and when he hoped off, dried off and put on new clothes, he felt a thousand times more worthy of affection. He stepped outside his room, rolling up the white sleeves of his button up.

"Let's eat."

Brow lifted at the idea of him washing up. If anything her expression was amused.

Curling up on the couch as she waited before he was out in a flash and already craving the meal.

The conversation was pleasant, laughing often and grinning at each other like they'd spent a lifetime together.

It felt nice for once to have company and to not be alone. It felt nice to not have to have a conversation about being sick or planning for the end of days.

All and all it was just nice... a quiet glance at her drink, those bright eyes meaningful as she looked up to him and smiled softly.

"Thanks fer 'aving me 'round...it means ah lot tae me...probably more den ye realize."

A lift of brows in surprise when the bag with it's long box was given to her.

"Och, Shane..."

A whisper and a tucked smile to withhold private glee.

"Look under yer chair."

Musing grin broadened to Fox's potential for there surely enough was a bag resting underneath his chair. Heavy with a sturdy wooden box within it's claim.

The tankard would be within, silver and etched.

She opened her own gift, the necklace taking her breath away. Simple and beautiful. Perfect.

Words could not explain her joy at the gift. Grinning at him she returned his kiss with that joyful intensity.

"Happy Valentine's Day, luv."

A murmur. Smiling warmly at him.... oh indeed it was...

He grinned at her, searching underneath his chair for a good time. When he felt the velvety bag he pulled it onto his lap and felt as though he were unveiling something monumental. And it *was*. It had a weight to it which was respectable.

He grinned at her and gave her a kiss , lifting the mug up for another inspection, "This will make me look so much more offical when I do ale testing."

Yea, that was frightening. The irishman when he wasn't doing his tailor work OR at the bar with a drink, was off elsewhere having a sip at some mugs of ale. It was really a small part time job that didn't pay much. He did it all for the prestige!! No, really he felt like it was some lighthearted recreational thing that he did.

He couldn't recall the last time he had had a Valentine. Though, certainly, this one had gone off without a hitch. It set a staggering standard for Valentine's day from that point on.
