The player of Thalas and I are so grateful to finally have a folder for the dark adventures and ordeals that occur at the Dark Lore Library!
If you need information on what the library looks like and what sort of literature your character could find, go to the "Library of Darklore" announcement. Books that we feature to encourage people to visit the library or include in their SLs will be mentioned as stickies ( such as the Index Book).
Want to post with your own book idea? No problem! You are welcome to come up with an idea for your own book as well (Thalas and Saga, working at the library, do have a pretty good idea of what is there, so both characters have the right to be "familiar" with whatever book you create). Just post under "New Topic" for the entire forum and either me or Saga will list your book as a sticky like the books we offer. It's nice to include an image of the book so that players can get a better "feel" for it.
This is to encourage other players to also interact with your idea, as well as make the concept behind your book more easily accessible for other players. Whatever stipulations your book has should be listed, if there are any. If using the book has unknown consequences, mention that. This isn't a necessity, just a recommendation so people can feel more comfortable interacting with an idea because they know it's dimensions. If you don't mention any stipulations, you can't argue when another player imposes them-- if you don't state it, others are welcome to interject.
Got a problem with your post? You can PM either Saga or Thalas, and as moderators we can edit, delete and move whatever post, no problem.
What if your post isn't about a book? No worries, just post it as a new topic, whatever you're playing. You can post anything here that has something to do with the library, it's workers, or its items.
What if someone is an angel/good/light character? Can they go to the library? Yes, the library is not an evil place in and of itself. If anything, it's somewhere in the grey. The closest thing to "evil" that your char may interact with, should they visit, is more like a charm or stipulation that the book has. This means that... perhaps one books stipulations makes it "evil" (ex: if we had a book that allowed you to see the future, but by viewing it you cause one of the outcomes to turn out unfavorably. That book, by it's very nature, could be "evil").
What about God and the Devil, then? The stance of the library is the same as Hinduism-- that is, that everyone is RIGHT!!
Feel free to leave some love or even some hate (though we prefer the former!) and we both hope to see you around the library. Much love and appreciation
