Dimitri was standing in front of the 1,000 Elves. They were ready to march through the swamps. Everyone of them were armed fully, armor, bows, swords. Dimitri never cared what weapon they used as long as they fought. He nodded to the elven soldier next to him, He put a horn to his mouth and sounded the march forward. They passed the outpost line and continued forward. Wyverns were flying above there heads, Dimitri could feel butterflies in his stomach.

He was nervous, he had no information on what the strength of the Nyadd army. All he was told was to push them back farther into the swamps and away from Azilla. He knew that he would leave without a visible scar. But what would he see during this battle. Dimitri saw something, a large moving object. Dimitri nodded to Elrohir as he blew the horn halting the march.

?Elrohir I want you in the rear. You are the one to get out with his life.? Dimitri said.

Elrohir nodded silently and ran off through the ranks to the rear. Dimitri looked at the troops in front of him.

?Ready bows!?

The soldiers did just that, every single one of them had bows at the ready. Dimitri turned around and looked at the Nyadd army. He took his place in the troops his own bow ready. The Nyadds were growing closer and closer.

?Ndengina sen!? (Kill them)

A first wave of arrows flew at the Nyadd army. Then a second, a third then there were no waves as arrows flew at random. Nyadds were falling to the swamp water. The Nyadds drew closer and closer then the two armies broke into hand to hand combat. Dimitri dropped the bow and drew the nodachi blade and rushed forward. There was no turning back now.

The Nyadd army outnumbered the elven army. Dimitri slashed downward into the defense of a Nyadd then another sliced at his back. Dimitri spun around chopping off the Nyadd?s head. Then threw a knife at the first nyadd?s throat killing it instantly.

?Mallen pelu e' n'alaquel en' sen!? Dimitri yelled. (Circle around behind them)

The command was slowly being fulfilled. The wyvern?s above were dropping down picking up Nyadds and crushing them. Dimitri sliced at an open stomach of a Nyadd doing little to damage its thick skin. He brought the blade up slicing at the neck. The elven line was curling slowly pushing the flanks of the Nyadd army and trying to get behind them.

Dimitri was slashing away at Nyadds. The battle dragged on for hours. He was knocked to the ground. Suddenly green hands grabbed onto Dimitri and suddenly he felt like he was shrinking. He was being dragged underwater Dimitri threw the nodachi blade away trying to wrench himself free. But it was useless as his lungs slowly ran out of air. His world blacked out,

he awoke in a dark room with the smell of rotten flesh assaulted him. He puked instantly he couldn?t stand it. Suddenly he realized that he was laying in a pool of blood. He propped himself up looking around the dark room. He was now laying on a body. He took out a small piece of paper with his name on it. The D and the I disappeared. As well as everything else with this enchantment.

?My chances are not good?? He said to himself. As he did he passed out.

He had followed the Elven army for the better part of two days. Waiting, watching.

As the vast horde marched over the field, he knew that the elven force would be slaughtered. Then he heard the trumpet sound. From his vantage point he saw that it was Dimitri blowing the horn. Moving quickly he darted amongst the elves as the battle began..racing towards Dimitri. One of the large Nyadds came bursting out in front of him..it died before it came within two steps of him and he was passed in the blink of an eye.

Moving into the water, he saw Dimitri get pulled under and dove in after him. He changed into a shadow as he swam deeper and deeper, following the Nyadd that had taken Dimitri.

He followed the creature for several minutes before an underwater cave came into sight. Swimming faster he followed the pair inside. Rising from the water slowly, he moved towards a wall. Flitting from shadow to shadow he paced the creature with Dimitri in it's arms. They soon came to a small room. There were other bodies littering the floor of the room. The reak of rotting flesh and old blood filled the air, assaulting his preternatural senses. After setting Dimitri down, the Nyadd moved off into an adjoining chamber and out of sight.

Moving over to Dimitri's unconscious form he knelt gently to examin his friends wounds. "These are not good....not good at all....." Muttering a little spell he healed a few of the more serious wounds to stop the internal bleeding but he could not save him. "He does not want to be saved..." As Dimitri stirred towards waking he vanished into the shadows.

He awoke in the dark again the smell of rotten flesh made him puke again. Dimitri looked at the ceiling and saw objects swaying back and forth slowly. Then a drop of a liquid hit him in the forehead. The room was suddenly bathed in light and he saw what the room was full of. The ceiling had elven, human and orc bodies hanging. The ground was covered in pools of blood. Bodies littered the ground, a nyadd slithered toward Dimitri and grabbed him.

The nyadd tied his hands and feet together and put Dimitri over his shoulder. As Dimitri was flipped over his shoulder he saw the face of Galder. The soldier that he knew closely. The nyadd brought him out of the cave and threw him onto a stone table hard.

A large nyadd wearing a bone necklace reached over and broke Dimitri's arm. He grunted in pain but his bones healed themselves. Suddenly there was a burst of chatter in a strange language. Another nyadd cut the ropes and stretched Dimitri's arms apart. It took his left arm and broke it in multiple places.

Dimitri yelled in pain but was answered with silence. But the silence was shattered as his bones cracked and snaped beck into place. The nyadd with the bone necklace placed his hands on Dimitri's arms and began to speak in another strange language. Both of his arms were broken in ten places. But this time they did not heal the bones would not move. Dimitri was yelling in pain as another nyadd leaned forward and spoke in common,

"Why do you trouble us with this war? Why we have done nothing wrong."

Dimitri just closed his eyes and turned away. But the Nyadd continued to talk,

"How many more of you are there? What weapons are you bringing? You have destroyed over 1,000 warriors. We need to equal the total bloodloss. Tell me what you know!"

Dimitri kept his mouth shut. But the bone necklace nyadd opened Dimitri's mouth and poured an extremly hot liquid into his mouth. He was forced to swallow as he did his throat was on fire. The nyadd continued to say,

"Tell me what I need to know, or the pain will continue."

Another nyadd came into the room and grabbed Dimitri's legs and broke them muttering an encantation. The leg was broken and stuck horizontialy. Then the bone necklace Nyadd grabbed the elf's head and slammed his head against the stone knocking him out.

Dimitri awoke in a haze looking as his body is covered by another. He could do anything. He would spend eternity here, a body fell from the ceiling landing infront of dimitri's face the stench of rotten flesh was the only thing Dimitri could smell. He could turn his head, he held his mouth shut as his throat was burning. He summoned a golem that was in terrible shape.

He said in a raspy weak voice, "find help...any...one..." He passed out as the golem turned to dust not being able to send the message.

She'd been roaming RhyDin, and following some of the Temple members when she'd been jumped by a band of cut throats in Badside. The knife wound was not bad, but she returned to the Annex to clean it up and put a stitch in it.

As she sat there behind the bar, waiting for the sting of the gin she'd used to disinfect it to wear off, she pulled the piece of parcment out of her cloak that Dimitri had given her.... and an audible gasp escaped her.

The first 2 letters of his name were missing!

He'd told her that if his name disappeared, he would be dead.

She bit her lower lip. Something had gone dreadfully wrong!

She put the cloak on once more, and slipped into the darkness, heading for Azilla

He awoke once again but this time he was in a brightly lit room. He turned to the side and saw shelfs of shelfs of weapons and liquids. An older looking nyadd and spoke in common,

"Ahh good my subject is awake. Just one thing to do before I torture you."

The old nyadd grinned evily and grabbed a branding rod that was shapped like a figure 8. Dimitri looked down at his chest as the branding iron got closer and closer. The nyadd began to speak in it's own language again. The iron pressed against Dimitri's chest burning the skin. He yelled in pain and squirmed around but the the figure seemed to get hotter every second.

He lifted the branding iron and put it in a bucket of water. Then grabbed a iron rod and jammed it into Dimitri's stomach took three more and did the same. Dimitri continued to yell in pain as the rods stayed in his stomach. The nyadd turned it's back and grabbed a red liquid and opend Dimitri's mouth and poured it in saying,

"Drink. Drink this blood. Drink it all." He laughed.

He was forced to swallow coughing badly. The nyadd pulled a wooden mallet and slamed it onto Dimitri's ribs breaking them. Then letting the heal then breaking them again.

"Tell me how many elven soldiers you have! Tell me where you plan to attack next!"

Dimitri just closed his eyes and turned his head. suddenly his eyes were wrenched open and hot wax was poured directly on the pupil. Dimitri yelled in pain as everything went black. The nyadd put the eyelids over the wax sealing them closed.

"Tell me everything and we will let you go." As the nyadd said this he pushed one of the iron rods all the way through his body and through the wooden table.

Dimitri answer quietly and in a weak voice "I know nothing..."

This angered the old nyadd as he grabbed a vial of a clear liquid and forced Dimitri to swallow. As he did his entire body felt like it was burning. From his heart to his fingers were burning. The nyadd looked at the leg that was broken so that the knee down was horizontal. He broke the other leg so it was the same.

Letting it heal itself and broke it again and again. "Tell me! You will tell me or be tortured even worse then this!" Two more nyadds came in bound his hands and feet together. They dragged him out and hung Dimitri from the ceiling the iron rods still sticking through his body. He just hung there both legs broken. His eyelids were now glued shut because the wax had cooled and Dimitri now was in the worst shape ever.

The eye pendant he once wore was gone. But where it once laid was a large figure 8 burnt mark. But on his arm were a tattooed number. The paper with is name on it had only two more letters on it. He was swaying back and forth his body still felt like it was burning. He was muttering to himself in elvish praying for help. Praying that he would die and get away from the pain. But no one came or will ever come.

Dimitri's body was badly beaten. he coudlnt move "help...me...someone...." His vision blacked.

HIs knuckles were white as calloused fingers wrapped around the hilt of his scimitars. He watched Dimitri be tortured without end...knowing that the time to save him was still not right. He needed to act when the nyadd's security was lax. For now all he could do was heal Dimitri's multiplying wounds.

Each night he went to Dimitri's aid, healing the most threatening of his torturous injuries. Staying in the shadows throughout the day. He knew that Dimitri was losing faith in his hopes of rescue. The elf needed to know that friends were close by.
After the branding was done and the aged nyadd left to think of more punishments, Sylus moved to Dimitri's aid once more. Healing his injuries, he left the branding and tattoo on the young elf's body. Sylus knew that if he healed those, suspicion of an intruder would put the nyadds on edge.

This time however, as Dimitri drifted into consciousness Sylus did not retreat into the shadows. He stayed and let Dimitri know that he was no longer alone. Help had come....

Dimitri slowly woke up seeing a figure. His eyes were trying to focus on the figure. Then he knew who it was. ?S-Sylus? What are you doing here?? Suddenly the room was bathed in light and Sylus disappeared. Four nyadds slithered up to Dimitri and lifted him off of the hook he was on and took him from the room. He was thrown into a simple square stone room.

The Nyadd with the bone necklace came into the room. ?Welcome to your final day. If you don?t tell us what we need to know. Your army is killing our young. So will you talk??

Dimitri did not answer but just stood up and stared at the nyadd. Suddenly the door burst open and three nyadd rushed in and slammed him against the wall. Punches were hitting him everywhere. He was thrown out of the room and forced onto a platform. His hands tied above his head and his legs tied. The ropes began to tighten and Dimitri was being stretched. He yelled in pain as the head nyadd whispered in his ear.

?Tell me. This will all end.?

Dimitri turned his head away and took the pain. A hammer came down onto his chest breaking ribs and again and again. He continued to yell in pain as his arms and legs feel like they were about to be ripped off. One of the nyadd henchmen took a whip and whipped Dimitri in the stomach over and over again.

?Tell me. This will all end.? Then nyadd said again.

He continued to yell in pain. He suddenly felt a searing hot pain in his right leg. He lifted his head and looked as a nyadd was burning his leg. He couldn?t take this any longer. A henchmen nyadd poured a blue liquid inside the branded mark on his chest. It began to get colder and colder by the second. Then it poured a red and golden colored liquid and the temperature went skyrocketing.

His yelling grew louder and louder. Then from the corner of his eye he saw another branding iron. But it was too late it burned some kind of shape onto the side of his head.

?No more! Please no more! Please stop please!? Dimitri pleaded.

The nyadds stopped moving and the leader of the group said,

?you know what you have to do. Tell me how many more soldiers are coming. Where they are and who is in command.?

Dimitri looked away and said ?I can?t I don?t know anything.?

Suddenly the ropes tightened and the pain began again. The head Nyadd spoke in a language and the group left Dimitri and the head Nyadd alone.

?You are mine. I will force the information out of you.?

A very large square stone fell from the ceiling landing on Dimitri's chest. Everyone of his ribs broke instantly. He organs were about to be crushed when the stone was lifted. Then it fell again, a few of his ribs shattered to pieces. Dimitri yelled in pain, as the nyadd laughed insanely.

Another stone square fell on the first on causing more damage. ?Help me! Please stop?? His shaking hands suddenly stopped. His head fell back his eyes closed. Those were his last words for the moment. The torturer grabbed Dimitri?s jaw and placed a red hot rod against his cheek and dragged it across his forehead and over his eyelid. But left it on cheek letting it burn. The nyadd focused on elven's completly burnt face. The paper was now only a tattered blank piece of paper. His name was gone and so was he.

He sensed his friend fading.

Before the brand touched Dimitri's face Sylus appeared in the midst of the nyadds, scimitars covered in dark fire. Hacking and slashing he killed them all until only the oldest remained Muttering a soft spell he healed Dimitri.

Looking at the aged Nyadd with death in his eyes, Sylus advanced. "You messed with the wrong elf...." He was a blur of doom and steele as he rushed the nyadd. Darting under a vicious swing as the apparent leader swung his weapon, Sylus rushed behind him, a scimitar slicing a gash up it's back. " Look...I've cut you...what a shame..." His dark amber eyes had an icy glare as he ran rushed away from the nyadd to escape a second swing. He tried to cut it again and again, his baldes slashing at it's arms and chest but it was to no avail. Seems the nyadd's only weakness was it's back, but that is closed off as the thing moved to the wall as he dashed away, out of range.

He rushed in again, blades leading the way he nyadd was ready for him this time, it had adapted to his speed. He barely evaded a hackig swing as he darted him, his left scimitar knocked from his grasp. Momentarrily stunned he clutched his now numbed hand to his chest. That moment was all the nyadd needed to catch him. It's hand closed around his throat lifting him into the air. Slamming him against the wall roughly, the wind was blasted from his lungs. A second later the stench of it's breath filled his nostrils. " I have a new subject to play with now, and you seem to be much stronger than that pitiful elf. I wonder how much you can withstand." Pressing it's blade against his chest, the nyadd cackled as it started to slide the weapon into his flesh.

Pain flashed in his eyes for an instant..only an instant..before it was replaced with raging anger. His hands clamped onto the beasts' sword, the veins in his arms bulged as he started to push it way. Amber eyes flash as his animality rushed to the surface, his human hands changing into claws. With a twist of his wrists the nyadd's sword shattered.

Backing away in fear and wonder, the nyadd dropped him to the ground. By the time it was against the far wall Sylus had finished his transformation. "Wha....what are you?!?! " He demanded as the beast became aware that it was looking at it's own death. Clawed hand clamped onto the side of its head and with preternatural strength Sylus twisted the nyadd's neck in a perfect 360 degree circle. "Not human..." was all he replied as he lifted Dimitri in his arms and took him to saftey.

As Dimitri drifted in and out of consciousness. He felt like he was being carried by something. But his body would not move, he then felt his body being laid down. He only thing he could do was open his eyes. He heard Sylus's voice

"It is alright. Dimitri what happened to your eyes?"

He tried to ask what he was talking about but not a single sound came out. He looked left and right his head not moving at all. The only thing he could see was the sky and Sylus's head. Dimitri was having a extremly hard time breathing. Sylus left his view but he could hear him talking but to who? or what?

He could feel grass under his hands. He looked at the sky. As the time passed he tried to speak but to no prevail. But he continued to try to say "Thank you."

He knew that most of Dimitri's injuries were internal as he laid the elf down on a patch of soft grass. Removing his friends shirt he saw right away how bad his situation was. Bruises dotted his body, making his chest a rainbow of painfilled colors. Every rib was wither cracked or broken. Fearing that some may have puntured his lungs, Sylus wrapped Dimitri's upper body with thick bandages after applying a simple healing balm. "I'm not that good at healin magic....but I know how to apply splints, poultices, and basic first aid...." He spoke softly to Dimitri, he could see the thanks in his friends eyes as he moved away, toward the small river nearby. Kneeling down he filled his waterskin, knowing that dehydration had all ready set in.

As he was walking back to Dimitri he heard a gentle rustle in the bushes nearby. It was too soft, too faint for an animal of hunter, it had an elven stealth to it. Stopping where he was, he turned and looked to a spot just beside the sound, assuming an ignorance to woodcraft. "Who goes there?!!?" Never foolish, he did not put his hand on his weapon, he just watched, and waited.

She'd made haste to Azilla, and found out where Dimitri's troops had been deployed. The parchment now held only the last 2 letters of Dimitri's name, and she moved throught the countryside with the practiced ease of a Ranger.

Pausing now and then to read the tale the vegetation told, she found herself near a spring when footsteps brought her to a halt, where she blended into the foliage and waited.

Forest green eyes watched as Sylus laid the battered body onto the mossy ground, and it took every ounce of training to keep herself from gasping as the shirt was removed, revealing a beaten and battered body that was so broken, it may never heal.

She moved slightly, and that brought Sylus' attention to her direction, "Who goes there?!!?"

She didn't move right away, but sent her voice to echo from behind him. "It is Lucelei, you have Dimitri?"

He smirked as her voice echoed behind him 'Clever..' he thought to himself. "Yes..I have him....come on out Ranger...you'll need better tricks than that to fool one such as I. You are standing down wind....I can smell the soap you bathe with on your skin.." Not waiting on her to come out he walked back to Dimitri. Lifting his head, Sylus poured some water onto the wounded elf's lips muttering all the while a small prayer.

Easing him back down to the soft grass, Sylus turned amber wolf-like eyes to regard Lucelei as he applied the only healing spell he knew of..but that spell would not be enough.

As he laid there not know who was there. He began to cough violently crimson blood came out of his mouth so did tiny chunks of a glass object. As it hit the grass smoke rose as it burned it. He turned to the side and coughed even more blood up. His now golden eyes rested upon Sylus and Lucelei.

His coughing was hurting his entire body. The more he coughed his body began to feel like it was burning. More and more of the glass items were burning the grass. As the coughing stopped Dimitri finally figured out how to comunicate.

A small and deformed golem rises from the ground next to Sylus,

"Hel...p...me..."

The golem disappeared and Dimitri was exhausted. He turned his head to cover his burnt side. Trying to keep some of his injuries hidden from Lucelei

She moved out of the folliage after listening for unwelcome company. Laying her bow on the mossy ground beside Dimitri, she took stock of his wounds before looking at Sylus, concern written clearly in her expression.

You cannot move him like this much further. I'll need special herbs to speed the healing, or initiate it. Some of this damage we cannot fix in the field....

For the internal bruises, we need to get Agrimony, do you have any wine with you? If we steep the agrimony in wine and get him to drink it, some of the internal bruises will be healed.

For the burns, we need Alkanet roots, make a paste of them to apply over the burned flesh.

Great Celandine will work to help heal his eyes, it's one of the very best, we'll boil the leaves in water and use that.

Moonwort for bleeding, if we boil the leaves in white wine, we can slow his blood loss.

From there, I think we can move him again. Her bow never out of reach as she begins searching for the herbs, trusting Sylus to provide the water and the wine they would need.

Nodding to her he moved to look for some of the herbs as he got the water boiling and started to think of where he could get some wine. Magic was Artemus' strength, not his.

As he was looking for a way to produce the wine, he came across some Great Celandine. Smiling slightly he pulled a few of the plant and headed back toward Dimitri. Summoning a small bowl, he began to grind it up

The Alkanet roots would be found near the water, she was looking for a plant with long, narrow, hairy leaves, and a reddish root. It was too early for it to be in flower, but it was the root she wanted anyway, but as she moved silently along the stream, she happened upon Archangel, what a lovely find given the circumstances!

Archangel would help Dimitri's spirits, and allay pain. This was a good find indeed.

Further along the stream she found Nightshade. This would be a last resort, but she collected this as well. The nightshade could cool inflammations, but could also kill. It is a touchy plant to use, but she would have it if needed.

A snapped twig brought her to a halt, melting into the folliage again. Her hand slid to the long knife in her boot.

His now golden eyes were staring at Sylus and the bowl he had. He tried to speak again but still no noise came out. Lucelei was here where did she go? He continued to speak to Sylus this time some noise came out,

"S. Sy."

His face contorted in pain as his throat burned. His entire body burned, The liquid the Nyadds gave him was doing it's job. The liquid would enter your body as a fluid. After a few seconds it would begin to burn your organs. Then it would stick into the linnings and burn but they would stay. Slowly hotter and hotter, until they would destroy every organ.

He could not see anything beyond Sylus. He tried to talk again and an almost inaudible noise came out,

"What...is...Happenin'?"

He stared at Sylus still grinding the plant.

Suddenly a large group of elves bruts from the trees on all sides of the group. Dimitri layed there his breathing was veryloud. he grunted in pain as he looked around. Sylus spun around ready to fight. "no...azillian guard..." Dimitri rasped quietly then the darkness took him again. His breathing stopped...the elves rushed to aid their fallen comrade.

When Dimitri awoke he was in the hospital. Bandaged hevily. He stood up and walked toward the door. No one noticed that he was gone. He headed for the city.
