"Music and magic my love, like the notes of a perfect song blending to make something more than what we were alone."

Shey thought over her words to Dark earlier that morning. How true they were. Music really had been the magic that drew them together. Starting with an early morning song, a whimsy of a request seeing so many beautiful women surrounding a lone musician. "Juke Joint Jezebel" just seemed appropriate at the time. It seemed like from that moment on she was just looking for excuses to spend time in his company. A few minutes snatched here and there, some of them feeling like precious treasure stolen in between moments while he was with PJ. But those stolen moments grew longer and longer, and he seemed to enjoy them just as much as she did.

She was not certain when friendship had turned to love, but it was the most wonderful feeling in the world. Maybe it was the first time they played together. Shey had never played for anyone outside the harem, so bringing her little silver flute to the inn was an unusal thing. The only reason she did it was because Dark was there, and she wanted to return some of the joy and peace he had given her. The way he looked at her when she started playing had made her feel so warm inside, like just having stepped from shadow into the summer sun. The sound of flute and guitar mingling was a seductive magic all its own. Once they had shared that, it seemed you would almost never see the one without the other. And yet they still were not lovers.

The first night Dark came to the club was the night Shey would always consider their first official date, its amazing what time alone in a deserted warehouse will do for a pair of best friends. A lot of love and care had been taken in the construction of the Alley Cat Club, and the wonder Dark had shown at it touched the foxling. Sharing dinner with him in the little dining grotto they called the lions den was the most domestic experience she had ever had. Hearing Dark say over spagetti that the atmosphere she was so quickly beginning to call home was "the type of place that demands excellence in a performer. The place, the music, you, and thats what I live for." had nearly made her cry. She had had butterflies in her stomach for hours after that not knowing if that meant what it sounded like it did. And ending the tour in her place behind the club snuggled up fully dressed on her bed held close in her best friends arms was the perfect way to end the evening. That one night had turned into a never ending slumber party.

Each night was precious to her, and each night they got closer and closer, but never more intimate. Dark seemed to always be there when Shey was sad, doing his best to make her smile. The night she had carried a broken and tired little Daivd home to Kina was one of the hardest nights emotionally she had ever faced, after the boy was safely back with his mother, Shey had sought out a quiet place to cry, only to have Dark find her there. He held her and teased her, and when she said she never wanted to have children because she was afraid to see them hurt, he told her what a wonderful mother she would make. And the way he blushed and stammered when trying to pass of a slip of the tounge when he said he wanted a little girl, was just endearing. That was the first moment Shey had really thought of taking him as a lover, and possibly bearing his children. And still she held off.

The first time they made love was nearly a week into the never ending slumber party. Sheyleigh had never felt so close to anyone before as she did to Dark, not even with her first love Alex. What she felt for Alex and what she felt for Dark was like the difference between candlelight and the light of the noonday sun. In Darks arms she felt complete for the first time ever, hearing him whisper of how much he wanted to give her the child she had started to crave having with him was a new kind of music, one that wrapped around her heart. And now that baby was growing inside her, and despite the discomfort that came with pregnancy, the foxling could not have been happier.

Their life together was turning into one beautiful symphony note by perfect note.
