One minute past midnight on the birth of the new year, and Kina heard the sound of a baby's cry. She puzzled at the sound a moment in her half dazed, pained state, having expected a kitten's mewing, then smiled a bright tired smile up at her husband.
The nurses cleaned and swaddled the infant, weighed and measured him then brought him to rest in his exhausted mothers arms. "A healthy six pound baby boy! The two of you must be so happy."
Kina stroked the downy brown hair on the child's head, so much like his fathers, and smiled up at the nurse. "You have no idea." Her attention then shifted back to Antonio. "Well love what do you think? Does he look like a Dominick to you?"
