Charna's warning to the catling had not gone unheard. Trouble was coming.. Question is what trouble and how to prepare for it. Nonspecific threats could be so bothersome.

Deciding that the best place to start might be riding the perimiter of the property the catling found herself in the stable. A nod to Ou got her pointed to one of the mares that needed exercising, a pretty cream colored thing with rose and blood red markings given the somewhat ominous sounding name of Blood on Snow. Snow was quickly harnessed and saddled and the pair taking flight.

The first leg of the flight took them to the gates from the main road to town. Nothing unusual there... a turn and a short flight to the lakeshore also brought nothing out of the ordinanry. But the third leg... from lae to falls was different... Smoke where none should be.. and not the uncontrolled baze of wild fire... a slim trail as if from a newly extinguised camp fire.

Landing a ways from the fire and aproaching cautiously Kina learned two things. The camp was empty.... and that she needed to fire the dungeon guards post haste... because there lieing half burned in the fires was the robes given to the prisoners in the blackest cells.

"CHARNA!" Kina came rushing back into the house at a full on run and yelling at the top of her lungs. "Where Are you we gotta talk!"

the catling finally comes to a stop in the office gasping and panting for breath. After colapseing in her desk chair she pulls several files from the drawers and lays them on the desktop to await Char.

Even from the upper levels of the house, the vixen could hear Kina's anxious call. Her brow furrowing instantly, concern taking over, Charna scooped up her new puppy, Ares, and headed down the steps to the catling's office.

She didn't wait in the foyer this time. Instead, she just marched right on in and headed straight for the desk. It sounded very urgent...

And it looked pretty urgent, too. Kina was out of breath, which meant she'd probably been running around for a while. That usually wasn't a good thing.

She casually noted the files fanned out on the desktop as she set Ares down on the floor.
Brow still knit together, she made somewhat of a head-nod towards the pile of papers.

"Kina..dearest...what's all this? Is..is everything all right?"

"The blind old fools! They let her out!" Frantic searching through the papers finds the one shes looking for which she slides to Char."They were not suposed to let her out yet... not till the cubs were bigger."

The paper contains a description and a list of offenses for a prisoner that was untill recently bound in the dungeon.. first and foremost being arson and destruction of property... the intended target? The nursery at Lions Pride.

"We found that other bad thing Love... And I dont think its gonna be pretty."

"You mean...it's not even safe here anymore?"

Oh gods. The room at the Red Dragon was off limits, and now Lions Pride was on red alert. Her eyes skimmed over the files, picking out all sorts of unpleasant words. The instant she read the most serious offense, though, she dropped the file and her jaw.

"She...She's after the babies?!? Oh gods! Where do we put them? Are we fleeing..or?"

She broke into a nervous fit of nail biting. Around her fingertips, she tried to ask a calmer question, so as not to but the catling into an even more panicked state.

"Who is she, exactly?"

Adressing each of Charna's questions as they came up helped the catling to resume her composure just a bit. "First off Love, we are as safe here now as we were before... we are just gonna have to make a few...adjustments."

Gathering up the file with one hand while keeping her eyes on the wife, movements deceptively lazy. Then files returned to their places and cabinets locked again all in silence. And then she motioned char over to the window seat and moved there herself.

"She is my daughters daughter.. and untill the cubs were born by the laws of my homeland she was my heir. After her mother died and her father went mad...when I brought her sisters and brother to live at Kinatal, Shan ran away. She did not trust the temple preists. I had people keeping watch on her but she would often evade surveilence."

A soft sigh accompanies the catlings story "She grew wild and feral... and grew to hate me choosing to think I abandoned her. This is why I understand Art's little Tina so well. She is so like my Shandren. This never changed the fact that she was my heir and whenever she deinged to come home she was treated as such. That may have been my mistake."

"When we went looking for a new house because of the cubs, and I found she was trying to sell Lion's Pride, I was furious. Lions pride was something that my daughter and I worked hard to build. Yes I had avoided the place since Imili died, but I had left the running of things to Kireth and Aubriel. When we came here I scolded Shan, telling her she had no right to do that assoon she would not be my heir."

"Then barely a few weeks later after we had painted the nursery... she slipped in in the dead of night... and lit fire to it." A pause for a drink and a long look at the wife trying to judge her reactions before she continues.

Despite her insistence on calling the dog a "puppy", Ares was a little over a year and steadily getting bigger. She'd had enough trouble toting him down the stairs...

But still, the urge to cling and cuddle up to something was overpowering enough that she picked the near 45-pound pooch off the ground and held him so close she nearly choked him. He bit her gently to prevent that, though.

"Is she just going to try and attack the cubs? I do not fear her for my own sake...but for Kireth's, the stable-hands', and yours. How ruthless is your granddaughter?"

At this time, Charna was standing besides the catling, but she would not sit. Fighting off the urge to pace was hard enough, let alone trying to force herself to sit still. She was returning Kina's gaze, watching the catling's reactions as she watched Char's.

The vixen was doing her best to repress any really telling facial expressions. Hell..she was still trying to process all of this.

"I dont know what shes going to do Char, and thats what scares me most. I dont think the stable hands have anything to worry about...and Kireths is the safest of us.. Shan would not hurt her sisters. But the cubs... I don't know." The catling fidgeted with the drapes as she spoke, looking out the window now.

"We need to take every precatuion we can think of to make sure she does not have access to them. But we aren't gonna run away. I refuse to be chased from my home again."

Besides, the raven-haired one had nowhere else to run, other than Momma Cat's, and she would rather die than put that little house and littler family in danger. She couldn't very well run to the O'Corr Estate, either, considering she'd no idea where it was.

Lions Pride was by far the safest, with the number of people to keep guard and the capabilities of much of its staff.

"Then we stay. We'll need a schedule on keeping guard over the cubs. Or perhaps we should actually transport them. They wouldn't be running, and we could let this tigress keep -thinking- they are still here....

Whatever we choose to do, we do it here, as a family."
