Ahni had never heard of Valentines Day before, but her curiosity was piqued from the moment she saw flyers pop up around town. Florists, chocolatiers, bakeries, even dueling officials -- all were talking about this strange holiday. The little half-elf immediately thought to ask Neo, but something in the back of her addled brain told her she needed to keep it a secret from him.
So she took to the streets to ask the people of Rhydin. She pestered her friends, she questioned passersby, she interrogated Tenders and Callers. Everyone told her the same thing: Valentines Day is about spending time with the one (or ones) you love.
But... Ahni sat on the edge of a fountain in the Marketplace, head in her hands. I do not know how to tell the time... How will I spend it with Mela if I cannot read the clock-machine?
Something tugged at the little Keeper's sleeve, and saddened grey irises peered around Ahni's fingers. A small child was staring up at Ahni, his chubby little fingers offering a small flower. "Happy Vawentine Day!" The child cheerfully called, waggling the flower at the half-elf when she didn't immediately take it.
Ahni gasped. "You give the gifts on Valentines Day?" She squinted at the flower in her fingers, then at the child, who nodded and skipped off back to his mother's side. Kaleidoscope irises flicked back to emerald, and Ahni jumped off of the edge of the fountain. "Thank you, small child!" She called and waved, as a plan became to form in her mind. Skinny fingers tapped at the Key to the Tower of Earth at her throat, and a fissure soundlessly appeared in front of her small feet. With a giggle, she stepped into it and disappeared.

The rest of the day was filled with frantic scrambling back and forth from the Marketplace. She directed the elementals to keep Neo out of the Tower's kitchen, much to the angel's dismay. Try as he might, he couldn't get the stony sentinels to budge. His patience (if one could call it that) was rewarded when Ahni finally emerged, too-skinny arms filled with surprises.
