The black coach, pulled by six back horses rumbled down the road to their new home, but this time it had gone in a different direction. Instead of climbing to the desolate area of the southwest, they travel easterly and down along the coast. Some areas of the road took them within yards of the great cliffs that look out over the ocean. Inside the coach are two vampires of renown.
"My love, I do hope that you will like this place. It will be ours, all ours,? Talomar said to his wife, Tara, as the carriage road along. ?No old memories to soil it; and I did try to find a place that would be more suitable to your needs without having major alterations."
Tara Rynieyn sat with her face and hands pressed up against the window of the carriage as they passed all these new places she had never been. They seemed to be so high up which excited her because she loved to take dives off cliffs (and push others off them) in her spare time. What fun that would be to actually have them nearby instead of having to drag your victim in search of a cliff. Talk about convenience! She giggled and turned her head to look at him. "I love it already, Twinkletoes. You are always so good to me."
"I try to be, sweetheart. You know how much I love you, and I did want to have a home that was just for us. The other castle was not yours, and neither was it mine. It was Dominique's and when she passed on, I never felt comfortable there." The coach began to drive up a twisting, turning driveway that led to the castle.
"At least I won't have to worry about her trying to choke me in muh sleep anymore," she said with a relieved look and pointed to the castle in the distance. "Is that it?!"
Talomar smiled proudly at the silhouette of the magnificent castle. "Yes, love. That's our home; if you like it, of course. You have the final say."
"Holy gumdrops it's ginormous!" She was blinking with her mouth wide open. Then she snuggled up against him and began to pet his chest. "Muffin, can we christen every room in it this time? We never did that at the old castle an' I think I'd like to do that."
"You better believe it, my sweet cakes - every room twice."
She blushed at the thought of doing it twice in each room and wondered if they'd have the strength, that is until she would see the skeletal staff.
The coach continued until they were in front of the old cathedral-type door with lights on either side and ivy running up the walls. The door open and they stepped out. Talomar has arranged for a skeletal staff to be present, and the head butler opened the door. "Good eve, m'lord...m'lady. We've been expecting you." They truly looked skeletal, or at least ghoulish.
This was probably the coolest servants she ever had and of course, because they were new, the New Rule applied, which meant that Tara had to go up to the ones closest to her and poke/prod them to (a) see if they were real and (b) just to be annoying. When she was finished with her impromptu examination, she turned to her husband and nodded. "They are sufficient, honeysuckle."
The main entrance was more circular than anything else, with several hallways going off in spoke-like fashion. Talomar took Tara to the main hallway that was at the "12 o'clock" position when coming in the door. This led in to a very large circular chamber with large Roman columns and steps going around in concentric circles. "I wanted something that was in some way similar to what you showed me in your castle, my love. Is this suitable?"
She walked over to the Roman columns and followed them up to the ceiling, then all the way back down. With a slight poke and a sniff later, she turned her head to the side and grinned. "Affirmative, lumpkin. Can we hang bad people on them and use them as pinatas?"
"Of course, love. We can even chain them to the columns for torture. But there's much more to see."
