(( To keep the story more real and to allow the flow to happen without my direction or interference, I've not spoken openly to anyone about my thoughts (not *plans*, just thoughts) about what could happen. I've wanted things to be more spontaneous and let the story unfold in unexpected ways - and they sure have. Perhaps that was an error, but with so many excellent writers, I thought it could work.
In my opinion, Sharon has been the best part of the story thus far, and my thoughts were to have her be an integral part of the Tal's plan. Charles was about to come back into the library and mention to all gathered that Sharon brings up a very good point. Being such an unassuming human, Sharon could go places and get information that none of the others could. Furthermore, he was to mention that Sharon was right. What better way to get information out than through a reporter. Tal was going to be very thankful for that input because he really does like Sharon. Charles is very fond of her. The plan for "a deal" with Sharon has been in my head since she first showed up. These were going to be my posts for today until I was directed to look here in the OOC area.
I loved the way Sharon was talking herself out of trouble, but I didn't want instant success and make Tal look too soft on her. I wanted a bit of fear present that would naturally have been the case in such a situation. I love her resourcefulness.
I've had this story in my head for at least a year. The funny thing is, I have been playing Tal as a vampire on DM for three years now and I had never read a single vampire book in my life. I've mentioned that to people on many occasions. I felt so ignorant. I recently picked up a Laurell K. Hamilton book at the airport and what I learned of her version of vampires (after reading only 80 pages) inspired me to finally begin this story. I've not read much more than those 80 pages, because while wanting to know more about vampires, I didn't want to consciously or subconsciously take on any plot. It's also why I've let others come in and change the story in different directions.
To me, what was in Sharon's pockets was fine and could stay there. No one had any idea IC they were there (again, very resourceful of Sharon). The idea I had was not to search her pockets and strip her of her defenses, but to get her on their side. I guess knowing what was in my head and how very cool all this could have been, has me very confused and disappointed.
I will not post for a day. Lan, if you still want Sharon out of the story, then Charles will sadly usher her out, and I'll think of a good reason.
It's funny, just a couple of days ago I told a player that I worry whenever things get too good and too much fun. Disaster is surely around the corner.
