Gabriel stood out like a sore thumb as he walked down the streets of WestEnd. His arms were in front of him, cradling bundles of cloth that shifted and writhed often in an attempt to wiggle free of his grasp. Occasionally, one of the two bundles made a mewling sound when it was forced to slump back against his chest.
He walked quickly, turning down the many winding streets and lanes and ducking through several alleyways to make the trip shorter. It was cold and he didn?t think it was safe to linger outside with the two energetic armfuls of cloth and fur he was struggling to keep hold of.
He came to the first door and shoved it open with his shoulder. That was a pain, because he felt like he?d crush the package he was delivering. He passed the heavy machinery with a skeptical look, hoping the increasingly difficult to carry bundles wouldn?t get free and go off hiding in the dark, damp, and sharp places.
Then he came to the stairs and started up quickly, tightening his hold as his foot kicked out and banged the toe of his shoes against Quinn?s door several times with a number of hard, loud and resounding thuds.
