3:42am

Who would have thought a room would hold so many surreptitious proceedings.

For within these small blue painted walls Lucy and Jane?s secret were kept away from all.

A sleep over they had said; both parents needed an excuse and they bit down into every time; luckily for them? They dare not imagine if they ever found out.

Best friends, on the outside.

But that much more, on the inside.

Every morning was like the Roswell ?conspiracy? cover up. One mass and quick clearing of any evidences of a hot and heavy illicit night of savage love-making.

The bed sheets were fixed, the windows wiped of steam, their pyjamas folded and ready to place on at the sun?s breaking across the horizon, the necessary marks painted over with a small hidden pot of overused foundation under the mattress?

They had done this so many times over the past year that lying and covering up all the evidence was performed right down to a fine art.

Why, though?

Why hide it?

Were they ashamed of it?

Lucy?s fingertip lightly caressed the smooth surface of Jane?s cheek ? both girls turned to lie on their sides; stomach to stomach, breast to breast? Forehead touching forehead? Arms draped lovingly around the other?s waist, while the other?s hand touched the other?s cheek ? blue eyes staring deep into brown.

Both lost within the other?s penetrating gaze.

The single window at the foot of the bed washed them bleached in the moon?s white light, the glossed lips of Lucy?s parted as she heaving out a sigh, chest falling from Jane?s, but pushed back as she took another big deep breath and one last loving sigh?

Lucy looked sad, for a moment then.

Jane blinked from their exchange of gawking at one another, her body shifting in her attempt to get closer than she already was, pressing her body tightly into the other girl in an attempt for a ?snuggle.?

?What?s wrong, Lucy?? Jane removed her hand from her lover?s cheek to drag up the thin sweat-damp sheets up and over both of their shoulders. Trying to retain both their warmths within the confines of their space.

The red head diverted her eyes and shrugged her slender, bare shoulders, ?School, soon??

?Yeah?? Jane nodded, ?What about it?? Another shift under the sheets had her hand resting on the other?s ass? She grinned.

An amused chuckle, or was it perhaps nervousness expressed when Lucy replied to her gesture with a gentle tap to Jane?s own ass cheek, ?Stop it you, I am trying to be serious here??

?You? Serious? Get out of here??

?Jane?? Lucy sighed, removing the closeness, the coldness and bitter air around them causing her to shiver? As if their parting had brought sadness to her, the small of her breasts were risen as her lungs had swelled to full capacity, but fell as yet another sad sigh escaped from her lips.

The brown haired Jane suddenly pushed herself up to lean up from the bed ? one hand planted to the mattress, leaving the sheets fall from her more than ample breast-sized compared to Lucy?s.

The red head could not tare her eyes away from them, now, and stared enviously at the other girl?s chest.

?Is something bothering you?? Jane questioned, curiously.

?It?s? Us?? Finally, Lucy got it out.

?Us?? Jane suddenly felt her chest tighten as the questions flooded her mind. What was wrong? Was there something wrong? ?What about us?? Resting a hand simply on Lucy?s forearm, she shook her head too, sadly. ?You have been acting weird all night? Didn?t you? Enjoy it??

Another sigh from Lucy, ??Not that I didn?t enjoy it? It?s just because I? Feel bad for what we are doing...?

?What?? An abrupt reply to such a silly comment, again Jane squeezed her lover?s arm but this time out of comfort, ?What the hell, Lucy? You?re the one who came to me and started this off, remember? That time? In class? All those little notes we exchanged?? Jane forced a giggle and kissed Lucy?s cheek, lovingly as she leant over. Whispering into her ear suggestively, ?Come on, I risked detention for you numerous times remember? Sneaking out of the grounds? Running off into the bushes for a quick smooch? Remember??

Lucy couldn?t help but smile. And even feel somewhat aroused at her words uttered so closely into her ear.

?Yeah? I mean it?s not like I don?t like what we do. It?s just all the secrets? Keeping it from our boyfriends ? leading them on? And our parents too? I think?? Sighing, Lucy closed her eyes and slumped back onto the bed. Grumbling something?

Jane drew closer, pressing her body to Lucy?s side, lifting a leg to rest a thigh on Lucy?s stomach, ?You think what??

?I think we should tell them.?

?Oh now Lucy-? Jane was ready to counter this conversation again. They had it so many times, but this time round she was taking it far too seriously.

?I hate looking at you from across the class room, Jane. Pretending? Pretending like we don?t do this to each other??

Jane shook her head gently, ?It?s not like we?re in love or anything? This is just a little fun, right??

Silence followed?

?

Jane blinked and shook Lucy lightly, searching her face for any signs of reply. Or emotion for that matter??Lucy??

The red haired smiled, and nodded. She turned to lie on her side again, though this time away from Jane and towards the wall, curling her knees close to her chest, shuddering from the cold as the sheets barely covered her now. ?Yeah, just some fun?? Oh, that was a whisper nearly unheard, ?I?m tired Jane, think I am gonna try and go to sleep now? Before school starts.?

Jane was always one to be blonde and hardly noticed the sudden change. She snuggled up close to Lucy?s back, burying her face deep into the long thick red hair that smelt of floral and oil scented shampoo.

?Goodnight, Lucy.? Jane sighed, happily.

Lucy didn?t reply.

10:45

?Hey geek, what you got there?? Dan?s arm rested against the wall above Lucy?s head, his coat was over-dramatically slung over his opposite shoulder.

?Wh-H-hey!? Both of Lucy?s hands shot to behind her back suddenly as she turned to him, smiling, crumpling up the piece of paper she had been reading in a tight clenched fist... ?Oh, it?s just Anime stuff me and Josie want to buy... Made a big list, you know? Geek stuff? Something you can?t appreciate, Jock?? A perfect lie too, save for the faint blush she had upon somewhat cute full cheeks.

?Urgh, not that hen-tie stuff?? The boyfriend ran his hand carefully along the finely jelled-up tips of his black hair, ?You?re a big girly pervert you know that?? How vain was this guy? Now he was adjusting his school tie in his reflection from the window across the hall.

?Maybe? Why? You jealous?? The red head idly poked at his chest with the hand not holding the note, moving to tiptoes to reach his lips and deliver a quick peck to them.

Dan took the kiss with his smug-like grace, though wrinkled his nose suddenly to something distasteful. He even tilted his head away after the kiss, frowning, ?You smell like smoke? You know I don?t like the smell of it. It?ll do you no good you know, you?ll end up having all that cancer and shit. Then you?ll die.?

?Fuck off! Your not my Mother.? A slap was sent to his arm as rough as the girl could had mustered at the time, but he laughed it off anyway. He surely knew how to get under her skin. Secretly she despised his muscular athletic physique.

With a turn of her hips she had glanced down the hallway, the growing commotion of others going too and from class finally registering. ?Why do you have to be older than me? We don?t get to share the same classes together??

?Oh please, like you complained about that last night??

?Dan!? Lucy winced, bringing her voice back down to a more suitable whisper, ?Will you stop saying that so loud??

A frown passed his lips, both hands moving to rest behind his head. ?What? You embarrassed about it?? He would ask with one eyebrow raised, teasingly hip-bashing her off balance.

?H-hey! Damn it, Dan stop saying that!? Again, she kept her voice in check, barely. ??I am not embarrassed. It?s just I don?t want people knowing about our business.? Several nods was soon followed with that comment, ?We both don?t need rumours flying around.?

?So? You screamed like a bitch and let the whole street know about us.?

Taken back by that Lucy just stared to him, shocked. Lost for words, she parted her lips, but nothing came out. Both eyebrows would scrunch together, feeling a most dreadful stabbing pain pierce deep into her chest?

She let out an exhale of air? Before even speaking.

?? Please, don?t call me that.? She mumbled, directing her head away. So very close from slapping him across the face in front of everyone.

?Dan!? A call came from down the hallway from several tall lads kicking a football about the hall, disregarding school rules of no ball games inside. ?Come on! What you doing with the geek-chick??

?Your not fuck?in her are ya buddy?? A smaller, fatter one pepped up.

Lucy thought of a million ways to insult that one right on back. Instead, with hands behind her back and resting upon her ass, still in tight fists and clenching that note, she?d turn away? Humiliated. Staring to the wooden floor.

?? Why do you hang around them?? Lucy grumbled to the floor, though keeping her eyes onto him despite how awkward the view of him may had been.

Dan replied easily, casually and like he meant every word. He moved to kiss her cheek, smile and tap her head, ?You ARE a geek, Lucy. Well? I am off to play some footie with the boys, catch you later, Screamer.?

?Dan!? Too late, he was off and running through the crowd, leaving Lucy to stand there all alone with her hand outstretched holding nothing but air that should had been his hand.

People bumped into her, some avoiding as she stood there like a statue? Her voice fell into a deep sorrow. The poor girl sounded almost about ready to cry.

?Dan? D?? Those chocolate eyes of hers closed, restricting the flow of tears.
Why was she born intelligent? Why is it people like her are ridiculed because they wish to expand their knowledge of life? Of their hobbies and of their profession?

Bringing the note before her face she slowly parted her eyelids to finally read it. Each crease in the paper smoothed between thumb and fingers. She moved the note so close to her face that it was nearly pressing to her nose? All because the tears dangling off the lens of her contacts blurred her vision.

The tears that dripped, smudged the pen written upon the paper?

?Well I am single, too. Who are you? What do you look like? What is your name? Do you know me? Are you a friend? Write back soon, I want to know more about you.?
