After being adopted by Darkmere Alcar, Zack Alcar endures intense training with some help from friends and family in Nosgoth as well as Rhy?Din. Thanks to her time in Rhy?Din, Claire experiences Christmas for the first time as well as all the fun that goes with it. From decorations to gift giving, all were welcome to contribute to the holiday cheer. Timeline: December 2013

A nefarious influence infiltrates Claire?s subconscious, leading to nightmares and lucid daydreams that leave her in psychological shambles. From Heart to Paper

Serah struggles with her mortality and impending death and decides to put her thoughts to paper in hopes of leaving some small part of her behind for those she cares about. No Rest for the Wicked

After a gruesome murder in Seaside, the reigning Baroness is left scrambling for answers. The harder Claire looks, the more questions she has but maybe just maybe she can trust those closest to her to get to the bottom of it. Timeline: January 2014

Sister Mine

Serah finally finds out just how fragile Claire?s mental stability is when the swordmage Arthour seeks her out for a rather difficult conversation. As if the younger Farron didn?t have enough on her plate, how will she react knowing that Claire seems to think she?s dead? Timeline: Early February 2014

Amidst all of the chaos, Zack and his fiancee Raven have a little bit to celebrate and share that with their friends and family. Timeline: Mid February 2014

Time ticks by in leaps and lulls for Serah as the shadow of death continues to loom over her at every turn. A near death experience makes it even more real and her recovery afterwards provides a fresh perspective for the young woman. Timeline: March 2014-July 2014

I was contemplating laying out a timeline of the threads in this folder now that it's getting so big and saw a rather amazeballs example of it in down in the Reigns of Alluvius folder (go read them if you haven't!) with Fiona O'Neill's Of A White Lady: Following Fiona O'Neill. While mine won't be anywhere near as comprehensive and in depth, I'm hoping to put together *something* to make a little more sense of the menagerie of posts/threads that I'm lucky enough to see here in the Lux Aeterna folder.
OMG! I was so excited when I saw this!

You have totally blown my example out of the water! That?s fantastic because it?ll inspire me to get my rear in gear to write more, since my little collection of stories pales in comparison. Though, with the holiday season coming up, don?t hold me to that just yet. Your story summaries are a perfect length, giving just a taste of what?s going on and providing a teaser to make me want to read more. Your character can have as detailed a history as you like. Your character can grow and change as you see fit. Only you can determine when and if your character will die.

This applies to SO much more than just characters growing, changing, and dying. If you don't have permission to involve another character within your storyline, here's a tip: Don't Do It.

For those of you who were invited to participate in the Last call before the shadows fall thread, this is more or less the writing prompt I promised to outline participation.

ICly, the fight took place late, late Wednesday night (9/20) into early Thursday morning (9/21).


Mostly, the most recent post speaks for itself. I?ve done my best to outline the the setting: the locale, the feeling, the terrain, with just enough detail to give you a visual and still allow for some creative license. As with the setting, I?ve tried to offer up a basic idea of the opposition, allowing for creative license within the confines of the wording offered in the post. The point of this is for you, the wonderful person/people, to get to showcase your character(s) doing something awesome, profound, interpersonal as a supplement to the story I?m trying to tell. Most, if not all of you, have been involved with Cooper the character on various levels for anywhere in upwards of 13+ years and it just feels fitting to ask you to share at least a little of this with me.

That being said, this is the culmination of a long SL arc that has spanned the last 7+(ish) years and I do have some boundaries I would like respected and some other helpful thoughts.

- Please keep your contribution confined to the battlefield provided. There are separate posts (in a separate thread) being written directly impacting the outcome of this, which has already been decided, since I?m currently writing it. What is occurring with Cooper and inside the caern is the subject matter for those posts.

-Be respectful of the setting and the other contributors. There?s no set enemy numbers, so if you want to go hog wild, please do so. Just please remain mindful that other people are participating too.

-Have fun and try to share the enjoyment of this with me. This is a long overdue labor of love and as much as I am looking forward to the end of the arc, I?m excited to see your enjoyment of it too.

-If you have any questions, shoot myself or Claire a PM or IM. I?m terrible about checking site PMs, but I?ll try to remember to keep an eye out.

Did a little clean up and locked up any threads prior to Jan 2017. If you find you need one unlocked, just hit up one of the mods around here. Also updated The Table of Contents! Hard to believe 2017 is almost over. Even harder to believe Lux Aeterna passed the 2000 post mark. From May 2013 until now, that just blows my mind. So thank you to everyone who had contributed over the years. You're all fab <3

Also, we're pondering a folder name change 'round these parts to account for the changes in all of our stories over time. Be on the look out!

1,100+ posts for Claire by herself.

Over 2,000 posts in Lux Aeterna.

167+ threads authored under numerous names of mine (90 of which were in this folder alone).

Dozens upon dozens of characters, stories, and connections made.

And now it is time for me to depart. You know, I used to poke fun at people who wrote out involved goodbye posts but this is a bittersweet moment for me, so bear with me, if you would. I'll try to be brief. I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to have created such amazing things with so many fantastic storytellers, writers, and roleplayers. You all are what make this community what it is. Or I should say was.

Sadly RDI is no longer what it once was even just a scant handful of years ago. I no longer feel welcome here despite insincere assurance to the contrary. For too long I have kept my mouth shut in the interest of non-engagement in this issue and this will likely be all I say on the matter. This post is made not as a sport coordinator or "green name" elsewhere but rather as a long standing, contributing player who gave this place her blood, sweat, tears, and words for over half a decade. It reflects on no one's opinion but my own. Sad that I have to say such a thing, but certainly you all know how that goes, right?

Anyways, Lux Aeterna's time on Dragonsmark has come to an end. Our stories have been backed up and if necessary reposted elsewhere. Upon posting this, all other threads save this one will be locked and no longer updated. In interest of not getting this deleted out of the blue, I won't be linking it but I assume y'all know where to find me. If you don't, send me a PM or hit me up on discord under Claire#2278. Shoot me a friend request and a message, I'd be glad to talk.

I am not advocating a boycott, nor would I ever. People should be welcome to play where they wish with whomever they want and to insinuate that anyone has been advocating such a thing is a stretch at best and a libelous attempt at gaslighting at worst. Emotionally manipulative behavior like that cannot be tolerated, at least not by me for something that was supposed to be fun hobby. I've seen stuff like this before and I can say that there is no room for it in my life, not if I am being mindful of my own well being. I am, however, encouraging everyone (friend, foe, stranger, and everything in between) to broaden your horizons. Expand your creativity, never stop pushing yourselves to build and shape your content. After all, what is roleplaying without the beautiful minds behind it?

So much for brief, right? But hey, that's my two bits on my way out. Thank you all again for everything you have contributed to this place. It is nothing without you.
