"Lady." A polite voice sounded behind her. Queen Teleperien turned to see Brego the captain of the Rangers standing in the door of her study.

"Brego! What a pleasure! How do you?"

"I ?m well Lady." He pats his stomach that had put a few inches since he married the now retired head cook. Teleperien laughed merrily. She gestured to a chair.

"Would you take tea with me? It is fresh."

"Aye! Tha? would be grand." Brego answered with a whiskered grin. Tele pours the tea into cups then handed him one. They exchanged the usual pleasantries as they took sips of their tea.

"And what brings you here?" Tele asked. She watched as Brego open a satchel that had been slung over his shoulder and pulled from it several leather bound books.

"I foun? these inna small hole nexta Ll.. er Captain GreyMantle?s old bunk." His craggy face grew sad as he spoke. "I though? ye would wanna look at ?em."

He leaned forward and held out the books. Tele sat down her teacup and took the books, holding them as if they were precious china. She breathed, "Oh my."

The covers were worn and weather stained. Each book was about an inch thick, the length and width slightly larger than her hand. Opening the top book, Tele saw Llewyss?s firm hand writing that gave dates of when the book was penned.

Unexpectedly tears sprang to her eyes as she flipped the pages. She didn?t look up when she asked; "Have you read these?"

"Aye Lady, tha? I have. I kin you wou? wish ta see ?em."

Tele looked back up and gave a smile. "I would. Thank you."

"I mus? get back Lady." Brego stated as he set down the teacup.

"Thank you Brego."

She walked with him to the door and planted a kiss on the weathered cheek. He smiled shyly and walked down the hall back to the ranger?s quarters.

Tele closed the door and went back to the chair. Picking up the first book she opened it.

After reading a few pages, she closed the book, stood and went to the bell and rang it. After few moments a side door opened and her seneschal entered. A hobbit name Thomas Greenweather.. or Tom.

"Yes Lady?" He gave a short bow.

"I have a task, it?s very important." She gestured to the pile of journals that lay on the table. "Please copy these, word for word."

Tom picked up the top journal and opened it carefully with ink stained fingers. He looked up in surprise.

"These were?"

"They were. I want these made into historical record. And if possible, send the books back to Lady GreyMantle."

"I will." Tom answered with another bow.

Tom gathered up the books and disappeared into his little room. It was a cozy room, round of course. A fire crackled merrily while out the window snow was falling in slow, lazy spirals. He sharpened several quills and made certain he had plenty of ink.

"This will take awhile." He muttered to himself, but the honor of recording of GreyMantle?s life was overwhelming.

He unrolled a scroll and dipped the quill in the ink well and writes:

"Herein lays the life of Llewyss GreyMantle, Captain, Steward and Ranger of Eldicor. This record is directed by the ruler of Eldicor, Queen Teleperien."
